Who should be the new manager?

I think they'd consider it, yes.

But if they thought it brought success, then they'd push through. If it does bring success, the fans would come around.

I tend to agree. I think that the Yanqui will make decisions based on the dough they have committed, and will be unlikely to be swayed by the opinions of those in the bleachers. This applies to players, and to coaches.

Like it or not, we now have sports' businessmen in the boardroom, making the decisions, committing the resources, and not fans.

From what I can see, taking fans' views into account might push them to going all in for Stevie G.

I only suggested they'd consider it. It is part of the business decision.

They're not going to appoint someone because that's what the fans want, if it didn't align with their aims.

If it comes down to a couple of candidates and one is viewed overwhelmingly negatively by a majority of fans (I'm not sure if Martin is viewed negatively by the majority, but there's certainly a vocal minority), then that surely will influence their decision a little?

If you want to make decisions on the model of Pilate and Barabbas.....

I'm not sure how you would assess the opinion of the fanbase - at least ol' Pontius had a ravening rabble on the doorstep.

We do know that Russell Martin has the backing of one fan. I suppose that could be construed as a start.
