Russell Martin on potential incomings to Rangers, with only Dundee's Lyall Cameron through the door so far: "We'll have a few before the European game. That'll be for sure. I honestly don't know [how many]... I'm excited about the people we're starting to look at, and we'll hopefully add."

"Everyone's working extremely hard, that's what the bulk of the work has been in the last week or so - identifying character and talent we want in the building which can add to us and add to the group and add culturally and in performance."

Jean-Luc and Thelwell mentioned it several times at the Martin unveiling. They're looking to rebuild the club culture.

Rangers Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Stewart, who led the search along with Kevin Thelwell, commented: “Our criteria for our next coach were clear: we wanted a coach who will excel in terms of how we want to play, improve our culture, develop our squad, and ultimately win matches. Russell was the standout candidate.

“This appointment is about building a winning team and a strong culture. He is no stranger to our club, we expect success and Russell knows that. We are excited for his leadership.”

Rangers Chairman, Andrew Cavenagh, continued: “I am delighted to welcome Russell to Rangers. This was a thorough, rigorous process and Russell impressed throughout. His appointment embodies the club’s goal of attracting top talent, empowering them, and supporting them.

“We believe that Russell can improve on-pitch performance while also helping build the culture and infrastructure necessary for consistent and long-term success.”

No, we're going to have a footballing identity, and not be a feckin basket case drifting from debt to more debt.

Hopefully. 😎

True, so far we have a player from Dundee and nearly a loanee from Bournemouth to probably sit on bench behind tav. Footballing identity should be fun playing out from the back with tav, butland and jefte next season. Buzzing for it

No wonder this country is a footballing backwater.

The least little change and you're all...

I think it is more to do with nobody has a clue what they mean by “culture”, and probably have very little faith in us being able to carry it out.  We don’t have time to imbed a culture (whatever that means) as we just need to win. Our style has to be one that beats a low block as that is what we face more often than not. It’s all well and good saying we will install a system of play that is attractive or plays from back to front or whatever but if it doesn’t break the 10 man wall then it won’t result in winning football and a league win.

The negativity comes from signing one squad player from Dundee and a backup player on loan from Bournemouth  in the 5 or 6 weeks since the season ended and with our first massive Euro game only a month away and 10 players having left the squad.
