This is a good sign. It means they are planning well ahead and are prepared. It’s a bold strategy we as a club have never tried before. Don’t be shocked if it pays off.

I reckon they've already got the manager they want as well.

They do.

The media having no clue is a bonus, watching them make guess after guess.

I haven’t kept up to date with English football at all I have to confess, but I thought Everton were not known for shrewdness in the transfer market. Would like to see a report card on his signings. I’m holding out hope we get a helping hand from Red Bull like Leeds have had.

Generally not over Moshiri's (sp?) spell, but over the last few years their fans have been quite happy with the signings made under Thelwell's stewardship, in very difficult financial circumstances.

Shame. Feel he has made mistakes, but had some successes with one had tied behind his back.

Not sure getting in the DOF’s mates to replace him is the best idea. Not a fan of the old pals act..

Listening to a H&H pod on this, and they made the point that while there have been some successes, there were failures too, not just in the players but the way that we approached things, trying for a couple of months to get a player from Spain, who had no intention of moving outside Spain, and having to resort to last minute signings. His failure in moving players on for decent cash was also highlighted.

Is it old pals act, or getting someone in who you have first hand experience of and know can do the job, rather than the risk of getting in an unknown?

I understand that Thelwell was brought in when Everton were under severe PSR restrictions and he helped navigate them through it. I believe the overspending that resulted in the points deduction was pre-Thelwell.

Yes, I heard the same H&H podcast and the points you made were a good argument against Koppen, or rather, his ability to do the role. They also said his negotiating skills were, with hindsight not very strong.

I think both can be true, with regards the old pals act BD. If it works its the first option. If it fails, its the old pals act and will be expensive to remove them all.
