Which player contracts expire in the summer?

Recommended Posts

Thanks guys, so Novo & Beasley will still be with us unless they're sold in the summer. I guess that leaves Hemdani & Daily as the main candidates to be offski. Anyone we're missing?

According to Colin Duncan in the Daily Record today...

avie Weir, Christian Dailly and Brahim Hemdani are out of contract at the end of season and are expected to move on.

The futures of skipper Barry Ferguson, Kris Boyd, Nacho Novo, Lee McCulloch and Charlie Adam will also be up for discussion.

They will be entering the final 12 months of their deals and given the economic downturn Rangers will not let their contracts run down.

All could find themselves surplus to requirements with Smith set to put faith in kids John Fleck, Jamie Ness, Andrew Shinnie, Danny Wilson and Archie Campbell.

No way will WS blood as many youngsters as 5 at the same time. It's just not part of WS ethic!

Not unless we're in a whole lot deeper financial shit than is generally believed. If Walter Smith is going to spend years more or less ignoring youth development and then suddenly change his approach, I'm willing to bet it's not his decision.

Kids and has-beens. Surely that's not the next stage in this long decline?

We've had the has-beens stage already, just not mixed with the kids. TIme will tell I suppose! Best thing we could do at the end of the season is get rid of WS but we'd end up replacing him with another inept manager.

Catch 22!

If he did, do you think they would be given a chance by the fans?

In a word - NO

Rangers fans demand success and as soon as these kids failed to deliver, the fans would be on their backs - just look what happened with Adam, Burke et al.

There is an interview in Silversmith with an unnamed ex-Rangers player who states that during 9-in-a-row, the abuse the players received from the stands was unbelieveable. He recalls one game where we were 3-0 up and Ally McCoist missed a chance - a howl of abuse was hurled at McCoist including a line of 'Fcuk off McCoist, you're sh1te'.
