  1. Past hour
  2. So no one hoves into view. The bookmakers are all over the place. These markets are notoriously volatile, but this market has prices in and out like a fiddler's elbow, and, simultaneously, up and down like a whore's drawers. We remain no further forward. I wonder if there is -whisper it- a lack of consensus among the incoming shareholders re: this very important appointment. It seems to be suggested that the manager/head coach will be selected by Messrs Cavenaugh, Stewart, and Thelwell, which does rather beg the question of where is the 49ers fitba' man, Steinsson? If this is the case, is it it a little, well, worrying? I mean why get in tow with a sports' business, with some experience in 'soccer', and not use its expertise? The decision, ultimately will lie with Mr Cavenaugh, who, as I understand it, will own/control 50+% of the share acquisition vehicle (which itself will own/control 50+% of Rangers' shares). This is total speculation, of course, but it would not augur well if there was a strong divergence of opinion, on the most significant appointment, and that even before Day One. Maybe those charged with selection have not been able to tempt a suitable candidate. That is, perhaps, an even worse scenario than the above!! Of course, the investors, and the Club, may have identified, with unanimity, The Man, and agreed terms, conditions, support staff, etc , etc. and his contract will commence the day after the shares -finally- change hands. If they are merely taking time with filling the post, is this not a Good Thing, in itself? Whatever is going on, they have kept it tighter than a crab's arse, to the discomfiture of the press and other media. Is this not, too, a Good Thing? I await developments. So should you. Percolated coffee beats instant - Everywhere, anywhere. Mind you, and before @ranger_syntax pops his head up from his Whack-a-Mole table, nobody in this decision making process is a "Rangers' Man". Worrying? Or not?
  3. I think we need to accept that a lot of matches Rangers play in will be quite boring, regardless of who the manager is. It's very difficult to play exciting football when the opposition stick 10 or 11 men in defence.
  4. Covid?! Hahaha, flipping heck, which forum is this?
  5. Haven't Livi been bought over by some Americans? Aberdeen Dundee Untied Dundee Hibs Livi Rangers Bit of a Yank mafia takeover of Scottish football going on. Hopefully pushes on change for the better away from the Irish mafia.
  6. I can only speak for myself, but I was bored watching the majority of SG's games with us. It only really 'clicked' in extraordinary circumstances (The Great Timplosion and Covid), IMO.
  7. I think @lenny3k hit the nail on the head above: whether we like it or not, the tactical nous came from Beale not SG, without which I don't see what SG brings to the table. SG appointed Critchley as his assistant at Villa when Beale left, which didn't go well. Critchley has just been sacked by Hearts.
  8. Gerrard wasn't the all conquering hero some make him out to be. He also wasn't a failure. He had good and bad points. Mainly good, I'd say. I'd rather we looked forward with the new appointment.
  9. The football wasn't awful to watch, I don't know where this comes from, we played possession based dominant football, constantly got the better of celtic over those years, and then it eventually properly clicked at the right time to win arguably one of the most important titles in a long time. Not just because it was finally winning the league again, but also because it stopped something that has yet to be done in Scottish Football and hopefully won't be any time soon. We were unbeaten to celtic in 18 months, and in the season we won the league, were unbeaten by anybody. Granted the return was poor, but this notion we played god awful football is wrong.
  10. It was the same at Villa, I watched a bit of them when he went down there. Side to side passing, ball to fullbacks, lots of crosses into the box where they were outnumbered etc. 55 season was an outlier in terms of intensity, aggression, direct play IMO. What he did well for us was build a strong spine, we were well organised, never lost a game by more than 2 goals. But it did come at a cost at the other end. I feel he fell into the same trap as Clement in that, he tried to play the same way domestically that he did in Europe and that just doesn't work.
  11. Today
  12. Lampard was Souness' preferred pick the last time if I remember right, but I am not so fond of the great player turned manager type unless someone can give Zidane a wee phone.
  13. The football under SG was a bloody awful watch, and he did only win one trophy, but unlike Gio and Clement it took him three years. He was off like a theif in the night, and then done badly at his next two clubs. Personally, I would be gutted to see him back at Ibrox.
  14. Fair enough then 👍🏻
  15. If Rousseau or any other member of the admin team asks you to cut out the insults, please do it.
  16. I asked both of you to cut it out.
  17. Cut out the insults, please. I'm sure you can make your points without resorting to that nonsense.
  18. Bit of a mouthful.
  19. Jumped up wee clown speaks 😂 Immediately dives into a tirade about trophies and the like as if I mentioned anything about his win record and not merely that the board gambled with the success from the season before and effectively made him call it quits. "Grand slam of one single trophy. Unheard of record from any manager in our history" Just spoke more shite right there than I ever have 😂 Gio, one trophy. Clement, one trophy. Beale, no trophies Run along, bawbag.
  20. Looks like there's revisionism going on from both sides...
  21. His Mrs is fond of gangsters
  22. You talk some amount of shite on here , are you related to the clown ? This mug was at our club for almost 4 years and won the grand sum of one single trophy , unheard of record from any manager in our history. He spent a fortune too , on mostly donkeys just like several other recent managers , and the stuff we watched was as bad as the rest as well. The guy was hardly ever at the club and left the genius Beale to run training every week. He then walks into two other jobs and guess what , he fails miserably again. It would be suicide by this board if they are even thinking of taking this mug back.
  23. Aye sorry mate, I just don't think the guy that hangs out with gangsters, let's his daughter get involved with gangsters, gets pished and goes out whenever he wants, is going to be dictated to by his Mrs suddenly.
  24. Well said, too many willing to overlook this.
  25. How was it Gerrard's unwillingness? We had a Director of Football in Ross Wilson who's job it was to move on and sell players, not Gerrard. Let's not forget the board didn't want to sell certain assets as they were gambling on the squad going invincible again to the league title to secure UCL while they squandered our funds on NEH, Museum etc And yes I can say that with certainty, the guy effectively does what he wants, evidenced by his social media. He traveled to visit family last time, he agreed to manage in Saudi, and that was even more traveling, sure Alex would be buzzing that he's closer 😂 Lot of revisionism going on here.
  26. I see Livingston' s ground is now known as the "Home of the Set Fare Arena". Whatever became of Tony Macaroni?
