Age is not really matter now, either way. If you are good enough, you are old enough. You see Leverkusen or Leipzig with half a team of kids way below 25 running away with games. Same in France and Spain. We (almost forever) have a tendency to sign "talented" youngsters, but also seasoned stars who by default make sure that the talent will hardly ever see the pitch of Ibrox. Only necessity meant that some youngsters were thrown in at the deep end and proved their worth. Only that the managers (of late) simply send them back to the bench/youngsters if the seasoned warriors came back (and usually the dire fare continued). IMHO, most of the chaps blooded these last two seasons hardly set a foot wrong. Brightest spark this season was McCausland, whose drive and bite were rarely seen on that flank with other people. How it can go was seen with Patterson and, to some extent, Bassey. Likewise, Weir, Davis and Balogun show that if the body is fine, people can nowadays go on to 35 with not much problem. A DM or CM is not exactly meant to be a sprinter these days, just grab the ball from the defence and do something useful with it. That aside, it looks like we are doing some business early in the window, which is good. The more, the better.

Is that still a thing? I was sure I read that was no longer a requirement. -

It's not about age, it's about fitness. I accept the two become more closely linked as a player ages, but simply being 32 shouldn't be some kind of cut off point. Steve Davis played 35 times in a title winning side at 34. If Barasic, Roofe, Lundstrom and Jack are away, plus this talk of Goldson and Tav leaving too, then we will be very short of experience, and a club the size of Rangers does need experienced players too. He's played 35 plus matches each of the last 3 seasons, that suggests his fitness isn't currently an issue. McLean isn't the kind of signing that gets the support excited, but he knows the league, he's played at a decent standard, he's Scottish which helps for European squads, and he's a decent player. I imagine his salary expectations are within our budget too. -

McLean is too old. -
Diomande was one of very few players on the pitch who was able to show his quality. Unfortunately for us it was still all too fleeting and his defensive positioning leaves a lot to be desired. Potential is definitely there to improve though.

Given he is attracting interest from other clubs would suggest that he can and would. I'm sure he'd be able to cut it in the lower leagues in the UK. Anyway it's very unlikely that he'll end up here unless Norwich release him which is highly unlikely -

It might be. We won't know unless he ends up elsewhere. -

It's fine to have a different opinion and fine that you don't want to sign him. But to state a player who played almost every minute for Norwich this season, was their POTY and a n international player, can't cut it elsewhere is simply not true. -
It's not really, did you watch him when they were in the PL? he was in his 20s then, and wasn't particularly impressive. I'd rather sign players that shone in a brighter, more technical league than the championship. Kamara made it look easy. If it wasn't for Butland, Tav would probably be our player of the year, but I wouldn't sign him, would you?. It's okay to have a different opinion to yours Cammy.
