I have attended the last two AGMs, both were hosted in the Clyde Auditorium(the Armadillo). The Clyde Auditorium's seated capacity is in excess of 2,000. Both AGMs were well attended, each had attendances of several hundred. I believe Edmiston House has a standing capacity of several hundred, seated will be considerably lower. Parking will also be a problem.

I understand the club wanting to utilise the facility; however, both elderly and infirm Rangers supporters must be recognised and standing for in excess of an hour is unacceptable.

I'd have thought Edmiston House could take "several hundred" seated, depending on how many. 400-500 shouldn't be a problem.

They could limit the parking around the stadium/NEH to blue badge holders and open the Albion to everyone else.

I think that they should be able to make it work.

I agree that standing at the AGM is unacceptable.

  2. I remember John Grieg as a left back. Would love to go for Harold Davis but never saw him play.  Also don't have a clue what a half back is.

We never really had a sitting midfielder during the 90's and much of the 00's.

Can't think if one who deserves the accolade and therefore I've changed my mind and going for Harold Davis as he's one of the nicest ex-players I've had the honour to share a dinner table with.

I am too young to realistically assess Young and Woodburn but their repute is massive and we’re entitled to take that into account. The old fellows said Woodburn was the best but they never played together in central defence. Young was the Curtain’s original RB, converting to CH when Woodburn was suspended and serving club and country illustriously.

I understand why many are choosing Butcher and Gough and I liked Amo but it’s Ronnie McKinnon and Geordie Young.

And this shows the problems that many of us have, as I've never seen Young, Woodburn or McKinnon. It's impossible for us to assess them.

I do remember Forsyth and Jackson. Jaws was a great player and definitely deserves consideration but I didn't go that many games and had to reply on Sportscene/Scotsport and even then was not always able to watch them so again it's difficult to assess against players that I saw every week like Butcher and Gough.

  4. Given @Rousseauseems to be counting mentions and not votes, I'll mention Barisic.

I've got no idea about Tiger Shaw or Caldow as they are before my time and vaguely remember Greig playing left back. I don't recall Jardine playing there. However i don't think these mentions should be included in the poll.

Numan and Robertson were probably the 2 best during my time of watching the Gers and I don't think we saw the best of Numan due to his injury so I'll go for Robertson.

    Tallied up all the mentions:

    Rank Goalkeeper Count
    1 Goram 15
    2 Goram 15
    3 McGregor 10
    4 Klos 7
    5 Ritchie 4
    6 Woods 4
    7 Niemi 2
    8 Christensen 2
    9 Walker 2
    10 Brown 2
    11 Dawson 2
    12 Ginzburg 2
    13 Charbonnier 2
    14 Dibble 2
    15 McCloy 1
    16 Niven 1
    17 Waterreus 1
    18 Martin 1
    19 Sorensen 1
    20 Neef 1
    21 Stewart 1
    22 Maxwell 1
    23 Myhre 1
    24 Firth 1
    25 Sorensen's Daughter-in-law 1

Surely it should be based on people's votes rather than mentions. If everyone mentions Ally Maxwell as being crap then he could potentially win it, even if nobody feels that he was anywhere near the best keeper.

Oh. Who have we got thats worth anything? Our best players are a 32 year old RB, a 30 year old centre back and a 30 year old keeper.

Doesnt look great and Bennet highlighting player trading speaks volumes.

We've already sold Kamara, Colak, Sakala and Mayo. Profit of £6 or 7 million? But yeah, not sure where the next lot of sales are coming from.

  7. We qualified for the Champions League and made a £23.6m profit on player trading and still managed to make a loss before tax of £3.1m.

A £9.2m increase in staff costs.

Legal costs and resolution of contractual settlements of £1.33m. Obviously we don't have a split between the two but we only had a provision of £425K in the previous year's account.

£13m of loans from the directors are helping, but while they're not great in themselves, the next few years could be problematic if we can't maintain a £10m+ player trading profit.

Regency bias is always present in these discussions. Andy Goram played 181 games for Rangers and for those of us lucky to have seen him he literally won matches for us, Leeds away and numerous Celtic matches come to mind. While the perfect keeper for that time, I doubt Goram would be our number one now, his kicking wasn't his strength, but his agility, reflexes and ability to get inside opposing players and managers heads was unrivalled.

I disagree. Goram was very good with the ball at his feet.
