  1. Very good statement. Well done!
  2. Given the OP's inaccurate interpretation of Celtic's newco situation, I don't have confidence in his latest "exclusive" and it appears just to be a way increasing traffic on his blog.
  3. I guess I have some sympathy with that view. Remembrance Sunday should be solemn and about remembering the dead. If we want to acknowledge and thank the serving troops then it can be done on a different day. However I doubt that any that complained thought like this. We all know that they have a different agenda born out of bitterness and hatred.
  4. One of the most emotional things I have ever witnessed at Ibrox. Total silence apart from the piper playing Flowers of the Forest and the players on the park. Quite incredible.
  5. Depends on what you accept the minimum payroll costs for the club are and what the net annual spend on transfers (including signing-on fees are, to allow us to compete and whether you have debt (as we did when King made the statement). We managed to get staff costs down to £24m in 2007 but let's say that we could operate on £20m and our net spend on players is £4m per season. Turnover £40m Non staff operating costs £18m Staff costs £20m Annual transfer spend £4m Loss before interest £2m
  6. I haven't looked at the figures or given them any though or studied Green's comments in detail but we have had to pay off oldco football debts. It could be that Green is treating them as current year expenses and that is a major reason for us running at a loss?
  7. I can only comment about the people that I want to games with, met at games, were in my supporters club or knew socially. There may be others as you describe back then but I wasn't aware of very many of them.
  8. I guess there's been 2 major changes to the fanbase in the past 20 years: 1. The access to the internet - this allows all fans to express opinions and comminicate in ways that had never been done in the past. It's obviously here to stay. Have we, as a fan base changed significantly in respect of the factions? I couldn't say as prior to that the fans never really had the same ability to make their feelings known. If we had the internet 30 years ago, would the divisions be any less? 2. Changes in the views of our support - 25 years ago, your typical Rangers fan was a staunch Protestant Royalist Loyalist Unionist. It was very rare to meet someone at a game that did not fall into that category. It's clear from this site and the likes of RM that we have a new generation of fan who do not fall into that category and therefore the beliefs and ethos that existed in the past don't exist to the extent as they did back then. The signs are that this trend will continue. Obviously people will have their own opinions as whether this is a good thing or not.
  9. Are you sure you're not getting confused between what Green brought to the fans' meeting and what had been shown to Monty and McCormick on a previous occasion?
  10. Yeah, there seems to be a lack of objectivity when discussing Green for some reason. I knew when I opened up the thread which posters would criticise everything that he said, no matter what he said, and which would defend him. Green is someone who isn't doing everything badly but also does deserve scrutiny, questioning and criticism as to some of the stuff he says and does. Taking a polarised approach every time doesn't add anything to the argument and you're probably doing more harm than good as criticising or defending everything means that the areas that do require questioning are being masked by all the ridiculous stuff.
  11. It's not particularly funny and can't say I'm bothered by it. However if the Dundee Utd fans get a kick from it then knock yourselves out.
  12. Dale Gordon had one of the best debuts I've ever seen.
  13. I think that it just shows we were leaders in bringing atmosphere to games. Other teams' fans just copied us.
  14. A couple of fascinating articles that I had to reproduce here. Thanks to Dubwiser on FF for the original post. 1920 1921
  15. It IS his responsibility first and foremost to pay, but that doesn't preclude him allowing the RFFF to contribute.
  16. Ridiculous analogy. It's like fighting a custody case and part of your legal fees being paid by your dad rather than yourself. The fact that your dad pays your legal fees has no impact on how much you want to keep your children or how much you love them. Does it matter that although you have the cash to pay it, your dad is willing to pay so that you will have more cash to spend on your kids in the future? It's sad that some fans would rather the club be out of pocket rather than use the RFFF just to have a go at Green.
  17. Sorry FS and GS, your attitudes on this really come across as if you have serious issues with Green. If you disagree with the decision of The RFFF committee then you could debate that but the immediate need to try and bring Green into a decision that has very little to do with him seems to show a bit of an obsessive attitude.
  18. Why would Green pay for anything? If it's the choice between the club paying and the RFFF paying, I'd prefer that the cash stays in the club.
  19. The money has to be used for something and this is probably one of the most uncontentious things it could be spent on, as well as being as oldco related as they could get at the moment, so why not?
  20. http://www.rangersfansfightingfund.com/ RANGERS Fans Fighting Fund announce tonight that they will be underwriting costs incurred in the battle to protect the club’s 54 titles. The Fund are fully committed to defending Rangers’ history, which includes all honours. Rangers fans have already paid in more than half a million pounds to the Fund and after tonight’s meeting a spokesman said: ‘It is absolutely crucial that Rangers’ titles remain untouched. ‘But because there has been a long-running campaign in the media and within certain other clubs to punish Rangers we must do everything within our power to protect the club’s proud history. ’Every fair-minded person knows where these titles belong and we will not sit back and allow anyone to have them removed.’
  21. The same argument was used when we first had CR Smith on our tops. Nothing much changed, and it may well be the same here.
  22. If green had called for us to go to the game, you'd be calling for a boycott.
  23. Don't see what can be done on the shares. They're gone. The buyer won't be interested in selling them and even if we were to buy some they wouldn't really be the same ones that were sold.
