I don't have a problem with young players coming here and admitting that one day, they'd like to try a different league, whether that's the EPL or La Liga or whatever. I think that shows a healthy ambition and hunger to further their career. Someone like Gio for example. My problem with Cousin is that we've been used purely to put him in the shop window when things went sour at his last club. Like I posted a while back, his time here has been such a cliche of a grumpy/unhappy foreign player its been ridiculous really. The main thing is we've made a very nice profit on his fee and aren't going to be keeping a player who didn't want to be here.

Most annoying manager in a long time, but unfortunately with Premiership prices you can't really argue with the valuation.
-
Not much on that rumour, I've only heard it once. Since Keegan's been up here the last while, he's been linked with Fergie, Scott Brown9 and even Barry Robson! All nonsense I'm guessing.
-
At least we're getting a decent price for him and can hopefully reinvest it on a younger player who actually wants to be here.

Here's a link to Larsen's Wikipedia page btw.

I knew I should have put some money on this happening

This deal has stunk from the start, just like the Boumsong one. OK, so if he leaves for 3M, it won't be the worst business we've done, but it'll be even better business for Cousin himself and of course his agent.

US: Seinfeld Curb Your Enthusiasm Arrested Development UK: Blackadder Fawlty Towers Father Ted The Office
-
If he wants to go and we get 3M then I think we should take it.
-
I used to agree with this, but recent games have shown that Cousin can also have a pretty poor first touch. I'm not sure if its just when he loses concentration or something, but at times he's looked just as bad as Boyd when it comes to first touch.
-
And the rumour is there's a 3M release clause in his contract. I can only assume his agent is heavily involved in all the current goings-on.
-
The system just doesn't suit him, so he's going to have to be patient. FWIW I don't think the system suits any of our players at the moment apart from away in Europe, so I'd much rather we went back to a 4-4-2 anyway, but that's another thing not likely to happen any time soon.

2.5M apparently.

So WS confirmed the Hutton thing to Chick Dung today. Basically the Spurs offer is still on the table if Hutton wants to change his mind. If, and its a big if, Smith and Webster make progress over the next few weeks, that could sort out our defensive problems. Smith coming back with Papac or Webster replacing Weir would be a big step in the right direction IMO, but knowing WS, I can't see him dropping Weir somehow.

I'm sure the initial reaction to us looking at this "sort" of player is always the same - I'm thinking of Berg and Weir for example.

Unlike Christian Dailly I love how we spend most of the season slagging off the media in pretty much all respects, but then when they mention a story like this, forums go in to meltdown as if its the gospel truth. Very amusing.

Gretna 1 : 2 Rangers - Player Ratings and MoM Poll
ascender replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
At least we won last night. That's exactly the sort of game we'd have lost under PLG. Maybe its because there's some more team & fighting spirit amongst the lads or maybe we just have better players who can make the difference when the chips are down, but at least we got 3 points. I think the problems are there for all to see, but I'd much rather we were top of the league while not playing well than trailing in second or even third place. -
Interesting news Frankie. I think we're resigned to losing Hutton at some point and while we all like to think we'd pick our club over money, I think the reality might be a bit different if you had a young family and were actually in his shoes. Going on the last few games I've seen, we really need to get our central defence sorted out. Whether that's done by us signing a new LB and moving Papac in to the centre, or signing a new CB, I think we need to address that urgently. I was hoping Webster would prove his fitness and come in to replace Weir, but that's looking less likely with every passing week. Of course, signing a real creative and flair player would be a nice surprise too.

I thought Naismith had a great game tonight. -
Don't panic Craig, I've just seen another link saying the deal is nearly complete.
-
Good luck to him, he did a job for us and scored THAT goal, but he's obviously not going to play again for us.
-
Its the same deal as Murray though, there's so much smoke & mirrors going on with their accounting that we might never know what's going on there. I'm sure there will be money and debt being moved between different UBIG companies in the same way that SDM does with us. By the looks of that, the stadium is the least important part of the work and its the hotel and other buildings which are going to cost the most and I guess be relied on to bring the money back in.
-
Well at least they should be entertaining to watch. I still don't think they'll finish any higher than they would have under Allardyce, but I guess its a start if they play the attacking football that they did under him last time round.
-
Lol @ better knowledge! I could quite easily be wrong, but i thought he was naturally right footed although he's been switching wings in games.
