Bomber Brown and Neil Murray back at Ibrox
Tannochsidebear replied to MoodyBlue's topic in Rangers Chat
I absolutely hated Neil Murray as a player. I thought he was absolutely talentless and a waste of a shirt. Couldnt pass, head, tackle, shoot, run, or read the game well. How he got so many games in a good Rangers squad at that time was, and remains, well beyond my comprehension. Taking that aside, getting Murray and Bomber in stinks of the old pals act from Ally. I seriously hope this is not going to be the way of things under his reign, as I cant appointments like this being too successful. -
Official Text: Lafferty set for comeback in Holland on Thursday. Tonsillitis problem has cleared and he could be on plane to Eindhoven. Here was me thinking the boost might be that he was still oot!!
-
This stinks of Willie McKay coming to the aid of his heroes, not his client, and not for the first time either. "An insider said" Who the hell can be this mysterious insider if it is not McKay himself, or the journo just making it up to suit his pro-scumbag defence.
-
Zappa, I am assuming you probably already know this, but Charlie doesnt write any of his columns, he gets a telephone interview from a journo at the paper who asks him his opinion on certain issues and then has the unenviable task of turning those answers into English and making a column out of it. I have seen this process first hand when he was "writing" for the Express a decade ago.

Boot out Lennon instead, and we have no problem.

If that is Diouf "barging" the physio, then i'd hate to see him really make contact. EHD does not veer of the course he is running towards the sidelines to get a drink and some instructions. The physio can quite clearly see EHD running in the same path as him and makes no attempt to change his course either, hence the reason why the 2 brush past each other. EHD has as much right to be upset at the physio running into him as the other way around. Of course, it all depends on how you view these things, and when you are a vile racist sectarian scumbag you see what you want to see to suit your warped agenda. Rather than us all get hot under the collar about EHD being in Scotland, why dont we really focus on what has turned this season into fireworks, the appointment of the VRSS as Scumtic manager. This sole action is the reason for this season being as bad for negative headlines as any I can remember in the last 25 years of going to see Rangers. It was the same when the VRSS was a player, always looking for attention and blowing his nut at little things that dont go his way. The sooner he is hounded out of our country's football the sooner we can all go back to normal competitive play.

I have it on very good authority that it most certainly was racist abuse, both at Ibrox and the piggery, and that it was not only Lennon but Mjallby as well. Racism is not something to try to score points over, but is sickens me that we are letting down our players who have been the subject of racist abuse from these scumbags by not bringing this into the open, thinking instead that it will just make things worse, which is of course true, but not worse for us. If we protected our players properly, not only would we be doing the right thing, but we would ensure the racists involved got the correct punishment, the sack, and where would that leave their "open to all" policy. Indeed, what do their own black players think of being coached by racists?
-
The main thing wrong with Bain's statement is where he says verbal abuse, he should have told the truth and that it was racial abuse, a criminal offence these days. The scumbags who called our players monkeys and niggers should be criminally prosecuted, not censured by the SFA.

Just seen this on official site, good that we can get a good home win and a game caught up rather than a free weekend with all these games still to play.

Rangers 4 - 0 St Johnstone - Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Tannochsidebear replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Agreed Davis was much better and prob shaded MOTM for me too. I thought some of that could be to do with the fact that we had pace throughout the team without the 2 slowcoaches (Weir & McCulloch) in the side, and this allowed Davis (and Edu TBF) the opportunity to think more positively than always having to think about covering for the lack of pace elsewhere in the side. A lot of our midfield dropping too deep for me is down to the fact that they know Davie is so slow he needs help back there. -
The Champions v St Johnstone - Predictions
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I would like to think that we can build some confidence before going back to the piggery again on Wed by getting a good performance and a big win today, but like the Worthy Ed, I'm always wary after a Euro game, especially an away Euro game, that the legs always look weary and we usually struggle, so i'll take any sort of win today and hope that by the time we kick off, we McCall has done us a favour by taking something off the scum. -
Compare this to the last 16 of 2007-08; Anderlecht Bel Bayern M¼nchen Ger 0-5 2-1 Glasgow Rangers Sco Werder Bremen Ger 2-0 0-1 Bolton Wanderers Eng Sporting CP Lisbon Por 1-1 0-1 Bayer Leverkusen Ger Hamburger SV Ger 1-0 2-3 Benfica Por Getafe Esp 1-2 0-1 Fiorentina Ita Everton Eng 2-0 0-2 Penalty shootout: Everton - Fiorentina 2 - 4 Tottenham Hotspur Eng PSV Eindhoven Ned 0-1 1-0 Penalty shootout: PSV Eindhoven - Tottenham Hotspur 6 - 5 Olympique Marseille Fra Zenit St. Petersburg Rus 3-1 0-2 It looks to me like a similar quality at this stage most seasons, and generally somes down to the teams to prioritise this tournament over their domestic progress, perhaps due to having a poor domestic season, or conversely teams chasing CL spots for 2011-12 might not put too much effort into going all the way in this diddy cup. As far as the draw goes, PSV looks not much harder than Lisbon, and given both them and Twente are tight at the top of the league, there eyes might be on a bigger prize than this consolation cup.

I would agree that he has been Walter's best signing second time around, and by quite some distance at that. I am saddened to see such a sharp decline this season, and to see him getting beaten regularly by the likes of nonentities like Hooper is tarnishing the memories slightly. A first rate Rangers Captain in the true sense like Gough and Greig before him, and a man who realises that Rangers captain is a 24/7/365 appointment, not a 90 mins armband wearer. I hope we can win this title for Walter and Weir to depart as the Champions they most certainly are.

Let me get this right here. Spartak won 4-3 on agg. Before they scored their late equaliser on the night, the tie was level at 3-3 on agg, but thanks to Spartak's 2 away goals they were already through on away goals, so McGeady's goal was completely irrelevant to their progression to the last 16. But why let the facts get in the way of a non-story.

A blessing IMO, although I thought he was our best player in the last OF game, I still believe there are better players and better options without him. I doubt there would be anyone in the team that would want to win on Sunday more than Lee, but then that goes for every one of us being ripped off for £38/£40 in the stands as well.
-
Exactly MF, thats all that matters. A couple of assists or goals both tonight and on Sunday and that will do me fine, never mind the baggage. A clean slate for every new player that arrives at Ibrox is the least they should expect, and the least we should give them.

It's been nearly 36 hours since the window shut.
Tannochsidebear replied to Gazza_8's topic in Rangers Chat
I voted unhappy, but only because I want the best for our club and the quality we are bringing in is not where we want to be. However, that is more a protest vote at the ownership of the club, that bastard Murray, than any gripe with the way Walter is having to juggle things with an ever decreasing budget and such short-term leadership from above. Taking that out of the equation, I was delighted to see the back of Miller, who I was confident would struggle in the second half of the season anyway, the signs of his form dropping away have been evident for some time, I was delighted to retain our best players with the bank seemingly desperate to accept poor offers, and we have managed to bring in 3 players to freshen things up, although Healy and the defender (forgotten his name already) dont whet the appetite too much, and Diouf is a huge gamble, which if it pays off could lead us to the title, and if it doesnt could lead to some disastrous headlines ahead. I hope all 3 get a run-out tonight as the team really needs freshening up, and with Jela out injured, we badly need something to kick start us again. -
Agreed Totti, could never work that one out myself. It just looked so wrong every time.
-
Shows you what I know, I heard he was a 17yo kid straight from Arsenal's youth setup. Where was he in the Championship? As an aside any time I have had the misfortune to tune into a Championship game, I have found the quality to be very poor and is another example of over-hyped over-paid average journeymen, but I take the point that if this near 20yo has had a stint there it is at least some experience for him, although a million miles away from the pressure of playing for Rangers in our goldfish bowl up here.
-
Not impressed by this one at all. A trouble-maker everywhere he has been, and a real disruptive influence to have around, not to mention a horrible human being. Whilst making a huge enemy of scumtic fans is not something I would normally sneer at, his actions at the piggery were disgusting and not the type of player I would want associated with our great club. I sum up my feelings by repeating what I said to my son this morning about him, in that he is the type of player I would expect the scum to sign, not us.
-
He never really got fit enough to play consistently and to get the games in that could have seen him do a job for us. Unfortunately we cannot afford to give him 8-10 games to get his match fitness up to scratch before we got a return. Good luck to him, I hope it works out for him. It wasnt a lack of effort in his case, which is the very least we could expect I know, but not always a given.
-
Not sure about this one. While I can see nothing in his pedigree that suggests he has the quality to play for us long-term, his desire to do well and a natural goal-scorer might just be a winner for the rest of this campaign, a bit like similar signings in the past, Andy Gray springs to mind. I agree that I didnt think we needed another striker with what we have already, but it wouldnt surprise me greatly if he comes off the bench to grab an important winner somewhere along the run-in.
-
Not sure what the point of this one is for us. Can we afford to throw an untried 17 year old into our upcoming schedule? Is he really first team ready? I would put money on Papac and even Whittaker playing CH before this kid if injuries/suspensions KO Weir or Boughy, so I dont really see the point of bringing him up here to get some different training and some bounce games.
-
Well done Sasa for signing up again, a decent player who has not quite reached his form of last season for me, but usually dependable and a good steady versatile player to have in the team/squad.
