  1. We have probably had the two best chances of the first half despite looking second best. This tim defence is proving yet again that you can get at them if you play good attacking football.
  2. FFS Windass you dick, that was an easy pass to either of the two great choices you had and you passed to the centre half in acres of space. Your first contribution of the game after 38 minutes and it was a shocker!
  3. Yes, Alnwick has already done more as a keeper than Wes has in the last few OF games. A great save early on from a drilled shot in through traffic. It says more about Hodson that Halliday is preferred!
  4. We have had a decent last 10 mins or so with a lot more possession and a couple of good moves. Some good work from Murphy and Holt, but Dorrans, Candieas, McCrorie and Windass are having stinkers so far. Cant afford any passengers.
  5. There are clear signs that the defenders dont trust Alnwick with passbacks. That is the second time in a couple of minutes our defenders have chosen to give away the ball rather than use a simple passback.
  6. So close to an equaliser there from a great pass into Holt who had ran past the defender but a good save from Gordon and their defender was first to the rebound to clear.
  7. Dreadful defending from Tav there has allowed a corner to them instead of us having easy possession. Thankfully keeper collects another poor corner easily.
  8. We all should have quit at 11.59!!
  9. 1-0 down already. A really poor goal to concede. Candieas beaten easily by Tierney after a short corner and Dorrans failing to mark the wee Edouard when Tierney cuts the ball across goal. Martin is in no mans land. Lets see if we now crumble or stand up and fight. Sadly, I think we all know the answer.
  10. McCrorie diving in when he cannot possibly win the ball left us really exposed there. Needs to show more composure and make better choices.
  11. tims have came out the traps firing. We are looking far more determined to not just meekly give in but we are being overrun. We are starting to settle down now and have our first bit of possesion in their half after 12 minutes. Cummings booked already. If that is a booking there are going to be a lot of bookings. Linesman gave the booking.
  12. Have you ever seen Windass work his socks off.? That is just not his game. he is a luxury player who, on his best day, can find some space in between the opponents midfield and defence, has some pace to get on the end of crosses with late runs, and is a decent finisher. On his worst days, well we all know about his worst days as we have seen far too many of them this season, and hopefully today is one of his very best days. If it is, he can be a matchwinner for us. But working his socks off aint going to happen.
  13. Official line-up; Alnwick Tav McCrorie Martin Halliday Holt Dorrans Candieas Windass Murphy Cummings Subs: Kelly, Hodson, Rossiter, Docherty, Goss, MOH, Morelos
  14. Easter Road Helicopter Sunday 2005 4-0 SCF v Dolly (2000?) 1986 LCF V Dolly (pens) Florence Piggery 1999 Tannadice 1997 2002 SCF v tims Battle of Britain v Leeds 1992 Leverkusen 1998 - possibly best away Euro performance i've seen To name but a few.......
  15. Candieas is a hard-working committed player, but his crossing is really very poor. He must attempt 15 crosses a game and a very low percentage hit their mark. I took count at one recent home game and he had put in 10 crosses with only 1 going straight to the target. The others were overhit, underhit, defended or blocked. Not national POTY material in my book. The truth is we have had nobody with any consistency this season that deserved to be included in the honours roll. Some players have had hot patches of form, including Morelos, Tav, McCrorie, Windass even, but nobody has been consistently good. With no proper management at all this season with Pedro & Murty, it is perhaps no surprise that our players have been inconsistent as they have had no leadership to believe in. Players I have been impressed with this season include Christie at Dolly, Boyd at Killie, McGinn at Hibs, and the best bheast player for me is always Rogic. Brown is one of the worst football players I have ever seen. A bully who charges into opponents at every opportunity. Forrest is just a wee fat winger whose brother caused us more problems in one game than he has in about 10 OF games. I have always laughed at POTY nominees/winners, both from players and press. The final straw for me was in 2005 when the gave a joint award to Ricksen and Hartson. Neither player were in the top 5 performers in their club that year, never mind the two best in the country.
  16. Spot on Gaffer, its disgusting and self-defeating.
  17. IF, and its a big if, McGregor is even 80% the player he was when he left us, then he is still head and shoulders above the two average keepers we have at the moment. Wes is bang average IMO. His shots to goals ratio must be the worst in the league by some distance. If there was any chance of a £3M bid I would bite the hand off the buyer. I am not ever convinced about bringing players/managers back once they have left us as it very rarely works, but it will be up to the DoF and board to decide if this improves our first 11 or not. We do not need an expensive backup when we have a few first team places that need upgrading (including keeper).
  18. If it was somebody already in employment, we would have to have had permission from their current employer, and there is very little chance of that information not being leaked unless said club were still heavily involved in a promotion struggle (surely if a relegation struggle we wouldnt be interested, no?) and they didnt want the breaking news to upset their momentum. Sounds like Neil Warnock to me!!!!!!!!
  19. Scott Brown as a potential football player of the year. Jesus wept.
  20. After the (rightful) criticism and anger at our SF performance, you again look to see a reaction in a fairly routine home game next time up. The exact same lack of pace, passion, creativity and desire as we witnessed at Hampden was in show in a first half that if it were shown to someone who had never seen football before, would have ensured they never watched another match ever again. The only difference between yesterday and last Sunday was that our opponent was worse than us. In the first half, I couldnt see any shape to the team, any obvious tactics, any desire to get the ball into certain areas, no Hearts player had been picked out as the weak link to attack, there was no closing down quickly, no neat triangular passing to create space, nobody wanted to go past a man. It looked a team that hadnt been coached, had no confidence, no gameplan, nothing. It was Murty-football. The second half was much more like it. More desire, more effort, faster, closing down opponents in the final third, creating chances, passing quicker and more accurately, and, thankfully, taking a couple of chances as well. It couldnt have been any more different from the first half. I wanted to see the second half performance in the first half as if to say to the fans that they were sorry they refused to turn up for our biggest domestic game of the season and they were going to finish the season with 5 wins, nothing less will be acceptable to them. Alas, it was only after half time that they played like they can, and I suppose I should be thankful for small mercies that we at least looked like we want to try to finish second. The team looks broken to me, there were plenty of arguments going on between players that didnt look like just about the moment but something festering. Candieas run right past Murty to go straight to Halliday and the ones who had been dropped when he scored said a lot about what they think of the hapless youth coach who continues to be thrown to the wolves by a board who seem to have 2 pencils up their nose and their underpants on their head (Blackadder fans will get it!) I dont even want to think about Sunday yet....
  21. Every other Saturday has always been my personal favourite. The song in the OP does my nut in, as does the description of UB as "ultras" when they are clearly nothing of the sort, nor do I want them to be.
  22. Loved the video montage but that song is utter gash IMO. We are very fortunate at our club that we have dozens of songs about our club, the players, our culture and heritage, and I really dont think there is a need for new songs. The UB have tried to introduce some new songs and I cringe when I hear them. Like Compo says though, to have a chance with a football song it has to be basic, upbeat, simple. Ballads like yours have absolutely no chance of making it into fans hymnbooks for matches, on buses or in clubs. You obviously have a passion for your music and the montage alone must have taken you hours to edit, so I take my hat off to you for the effort!
  23. Another heavy defeat to the scum, more in-fighting in the dressing room, a dead man walking as interim manager, battling with Dolly & Hibs for runners-up. In the world of spin, you release a deflection story (true or otherwise) to try to take some of the heat away from all the negative stories doing the rounds at the time. This is exactly what this is.
  24. going for beautiful on the eye, fast-flowing football is a pipe-dream we cannot afford at this moment in our history. We simply must stop 10IAR, and therefore we simply must bring in a manager who can WIN FOOTBALL MATCHES. That, and only that, must be our short-term priority. If you want to them get rid of him after he has won the title to bring in someone who entertains more, then carry on. Most of Walter Smith's teams were brutal to watch, but he is revered simply because he won us title after title after title. I watched almost every single game of Walter's two tenures as manager and beautiful football was never his watchword. Yes we played some amazing stuff at times when we had two world class players in the team and also a lot of other very good players, but quite a lot of that era was also just about getting the 3 points and winning the league. Winning ugly is still winning. From the mark we are at just now we are a million miles from playing like Man City or Barcelona, but that shouldnt prevent us from being fit, organised, tactically astute, and able to win crunch matches, especially derby matches, and therefore win titles and cups. I will happily go to Ibrox every week next season and see us win 1-0 with boring football if it means we win the title. Dont anybody kid on that they wont.
