  1. It is a very difficult one to try to persuade a young kid to sign a pre-contract with us, when they have no idea who the manager is going to be.
  2. Agreed BD. It's not a survey, it's just for those who want it, but strangely called a survey. No doubt just a typo but amateur hour again in rushing to get something out without checking it first. It's not even a story on Club1872 website, just a mention in the rolling Twitter feed section, which makes you wonder how involved C1872 actually are in this as it seems to be coming mainly from UB.
  3. The last i heard UB had around 50 paid up members. The rest of the section are made up from kids who buy their tickets in a nearby area and just stand with them. Thats hardly a cross-section. My RSC has more members than that and I wouldnt expect Club1872 to put to a full member vote something we put to them, especially if we wanted to blow a huge chunk of cash on something that has no positive effect for the club.
  4. While watching last night (I know I said I wouldnt but got home from poker just as it was starting on youtube and got sucked in!) and I was thinking this must be the worst team of Brazilian footballers I have ever seen. The comments above that this was a development team at least gives some excuse for that. We should take no positives out of simply beating a youth team with the whole game pretty much at snails pace with hardly a tackle going in throughout. I would take positives that it got 45 mins into the legs of the newbies, who looked fine, and a decent shift I thought from Atekayi. The second half I was falling asleep but I seen the goal. I think I'm right in saying we made 10 subs at half time? Makes a mockery of the whole tournament thing, but is good for squad harmony that everyone gets half a game, and I would guess will do so again in the final game. No injuries was the main victory for us.
  5. This wont help it at all. The ones already making the noise (while standing all game) in BF1 are the same ones who will be making the noise in this new standing section. I dont see how BF1 being turned into safe standing (for example) makes them sing any louder or get the boring old farts (like myself) who sit elsewhere in the ground in virtual silence to all of a sudden start singing. If Club 1872 are even the slightest bit inclined to part with actual cash to help pay for this nonsense it will be a massive disappointment. Even going so far as to put this to a member vote will show a degree of incompetence I would have thought they were much better than. The atmosphere is affected directly by the quality of the football on the park, the opponent, and the number of young supporters we have in attendance. By all means do something to encourage more teenagers to come along, which revolves around football on show, transport, and ticket price/availability, not safe standing.
  6. I thought that area would have been a good beer garden/bar and food trucks area for fans to go pre-match, but I love this idea of a memorial garden and a fitting place to remember our fallen brothers, quite near to where stairway 13 used to be.
  7. It shouldn't be getting done at all. A complete waste of money. When there is so much to do at our club, including the stadium, this is a total red herring that should be so far down the list as to never see the light of day.
  8. I dont know how we can possibly be counting Jimmy Nicholl as new face! Good article though.
  9. Finished 2-1 to us with Dodoo and Dallas our scorers.
  10. In an ideal world we shouldnt be playing any fixtures during the break, but if we can get the whole squad away for warm weather training and get it all paid for by playing a couple of bounce games then so be it. We should not however, in any circumstances, be playing anyone who is recovering from injury or has any slight niggles, the results here are not of any importance. We should not take anything out of a victory, nor get too upset at defeat, it's all about getting the squad ready to play a lot of important fixtures when we restart next weekend.
  11. It's hard enough watching us play league and cup games domestically, so I certainly wont be watching kick-about friendlies in the middle of the night. As always with these matches, all I want is for players to get some match sharpness, but above all else NO INJURIES! I dont care about the score or how we play, those are fairly meaningless. As for those who are spending a small fortune to go out and watch these kickabouts (about a dozen from my RSC are out there just now), nutters the lot of them with more money and annual leave from work than sense!
  12. He is/was I believe our best attacking midfield option. His knack of turning up late into the box and getting onto the end of things is hard to teach. Yes, he seemed to struggle with the pace and aggression of our game, but I dont believe he got a run of games to fully let him get to the pace of the game, yet his goals return for his limited time involved beats everyone else who has played in that slot by some distance. If Murty wasnt going to play him, and we use the wages saved to finance good acquisitions, then fair enough.
  13. Sorry guys, I didnt know Kenny Mac was a bear. My sincere apologies to him, but given the company he is keeping its an easy mistake to make. I looked at who he works for and made an assumption, coupled with the tone and timing of the article. Are there actually 2 Rangers leaning journos at BBC celtic, Kenny and Richard Wilson? Who'da funkit? Funny how they rarely try to write anything positive about the club to balance out all the negative stuff that comes out of there.
  14. Khenny Mac is a bheast, so any Rangers related news from him is likely to be bull. It seems to me to be no coincidence that as soon as getting Naismith cheap is on the cards, Bbc Celtic report that 2 unnamed clubs are willing to pay Norwich's supposed wage demands, and that would rule us out. 15. A lot of people go away for a week or two in the winter too! Imagine how many kids you could get along to Ibrox for a midweek game in July (school hols) when it's much nicer weather than mid-December when kids usually have a lot going on with school events, parties, panto etc. Or for the adults, much nicer to stand in the Louden beer garden with shades on instead of gloves and thermals!
  16. Cheers, will try that tonight. Didnt like tapatalk on the phone when I tried it a couple of years ago but it might be perfect for the ipad.
  17. I think we have a few players that could have played as backup in our better teams of the past. Is Tav any worse than a Whittiker or Cleland/Bolland? McCrorie looks to have the potential to be a worthy Rangers player but it's early days. Nico at his best would have been good enough for sure, and if our young Morelos stays long enough and improves (as at 21 he is certainly not the finished article yet) then we may have another. The problem is that with the very best quality of player we have in our current squad, this would have been the supplements to our previous squads to add to the quality players we had for these guys to play around. Our poorer players are so far behind the required standard that our overall quality is sadly miles behind other eras.
  18. The forum is working brilliantly on my desktop, thanks guys for the advice and comments earlier. I think I will get a new ipad for the house, cant be doing without my Gersnet fix at home!
  19. I wish the winter shutdown lasted from November to February. going to the football in the freezing cold and/or pishing rain, slipping and sliding on the streets outside, sitting beside guys who sneeze all over you all afternoon, watching football of a poor quality because the weather is making it harder for the players to play to their best. Now move those fixtures from November - February and put them in June-August, where it is warmer, drier, the pitches are better, you dont need to go with 10 layers of thermals on, (visits to Aberdeen aside!), and watch better quality football as well. It's a no-brainer. If football was starting from scratch today, I am certain our season would be March-October. Sadly, I dont think we will ever embrace this in our backward wee country.
  20. I was midway through typing a reply and it happened again. IOS 9.3.5, iPad 2 (4yr old) Happens a lot on FF, just comes up with a page must be reloaded error message. might just be my iPad is too old , been thinking of replacing for a while now, this might hurry me up to get a new one!
  21. That was exactly my thinking Pete, either Scottish journos or they were bombarded by emails from sad obsessives and thought they had to safeguard themselves which threw our planning out. I am assuming we have paid them the first instalment which will be called a loan fee and this will come off the balance we will pay in June or July. This adds a lot of pressure on to the boy and our club for him to be an instant success as if he takes time to settle (code for pish!) we are still going to have to pay for him when we already know it hasn't worked out. if there was any Timmy interference in this, it is exactly this sort of thing we should be releasing through either C1872 or Rangers Observer, or just direct to a friendly journo (if one exists!) .
  22. Much slower to load between pages and continually crashes and automatically reloads on my iPad, which is just what FF does on this device but Gersnet never did on old board. Just letting admin know, I appreciate and thank you for all the hard work you guys have put in to upgrade the site. are there no thanks or agree buttons? I only see a wee love heart !
  23. Just came up on my Facebook timeline from the official site. he joins on loan for now but will join permanently with a guaranteed fee in the summer. Dont know how to do link things, I'll leave that to Ian in the morning!
  24. Give us at least every penny back that we spent on him and you can have him. The guy is certainly not worth any less than he was 6 months ago. Failing that a decent loan fee coupled with 100% of his wages and a loan deal can be done. Anything less and you are clearly saying you (or perhaps our board) paid far too much for him.
  25. The partnership Martin had with the other anglo at the heart of the Scottish defence was a massive part of the problems Scotland had in keeping clean sheets, I thought both of them were truly awful defenders. Add in the fact he hasn't played a competitive game since August and there is absolutely no point in a half-season loan as it will take him weeks to get to match fitness. We have Alves, Cardoso, Wilson, Bates, McCrorie already at the club so unless we are losing 2 of these, we dont need this position covered by someone who is no better than those we have.
