  1. Great to see Alan Hansen in good health giving out the PL trophy.
  2. Access to the champions league is far more profitable. Even if it is just to the qualifiers. If we get it, it means they don’t. For every 20 million we make from the EL, anything they get from the CL beats it hands down. The extra games and the toll our European campaigns take on our squad - in my opinion it detracts from our ability to compete domestically. This figure in the table means nothing until we know how much of that money we have left after win bonuses, staffing costs, police costs, additional transfer or loan fee clauses it Europe triggers, travel costs, tax etc etc after all these extra games.
  3. Davide Ancelotti Won't Go to Brazil; He Already Has a Destination There has been a lot of rumors surrounding the Italian recently. There has been talk that he was planning to soon begin his solo coaching career, and that is what will happen. Davide Ancelotti will not be joining his father Carlo in his new adventure as Brazil coach, as his next team is in Scotland: he will join Glasgow Rangers. Communicator Ramón Álvarez de Mon has revealed that Davide Ancelotti "is close" to making a permanent commitment to Glasgow Rangers for next season. He has had several offers on the table, including from Spain, but he considers this his ideal destination to begin his coaching career, with the intention of having a long career. https://madrid-barcelona.com/real-madrid/ni-brasil-ni-real-madrid-davide-ancelotti-tiene-nuevo-equipo-confirmado
  4. At least we won the most apologies from the incompetent officials award. Stunning and brave.
  5. Bit of a meh season, some good, some not so good. Can improve. Is he on a 4 year deal? Get a good couple of seasons out of him then move him on for a few million and job done.
  6. We don't have a proven track record of developing young players, so why would he (or any other) stay?
  7. Arsenal are interested in our youth goal keeper Rydnn McGuire. Son of Phil (former sheep).
  8. In Europe, we definitely did yes. Domestically I'm not sure we did, but take @Gonzo79's point about Scottish football and low blocks in general. Although I though we focused too much on possession based football versus the diddy teams, which can play into their hands. And after watching the Livi v Ross Country game last night, I think its impossible to host a good game on those rancid plastic parks. Don't think I've ever seen one. So that's a pass for Gerrard on those games. @Rousseau will be the expert here, and may have some xG stats squirrelled away somewhere which will prove me right, wrong or indifferent. But if I recall correctly, outside 55 our chance creation under Gerrard & co was very poor. Edit - important note, I'm not saying good football is not conducive to success (see Walters second spell for reference).
  9. He will 100% be involved, he has been to a ton of games, going as far back as our trip to Old Trafford. He was seen with Marathe and Thelwell as they visited Ibrox 2 weeks ago. At a guess the process is well down the line, the club have a #1 option they want to get signed and sealed, but have another few options keeping open in the background.
  10. Haven't Livi been bought over by some Americans? Aberdeen Dundee Untied Dundee Hibs Livi Rangers Bit of a Yank mafia takeover of Scottish football going on. Hopefully pushes on change for the better away from the Irish mafia.
  11. It was the same at Villa, I watched a bit of them when he went down there. Side to side passing, ball to fullbacks, lots of crosses into the box where they were outnumbered etc. 55 season was an outlier in terms of intensity, aggression, direct play IMO. What he did well for us was build a strong spine, we were well organised, never lost a game by more than 2 goals. But it did come at a cost at the other end. I feel he fell into the same trap as Clement in that, he tried to play the same way domestically that he did in Europe and that just doesn't work.
  12. Well said, too many willing to overlook this.
  13. Dynamo Kiev last season was evidence enough. We should have beaten them and RB Salzburg. We were not prepared enough. We are never prepared enough. It’s not a big deal though, it’s not as if there is about £30 million riding on these games or anything.
  14. probably also August
  15. Just noticed McInnes is Hearts manager. I missed that totally
  16. Bloody hell I fly back from Florida on the 21st of July. No time to waste.
  17. What a dreadful game, was like watching St Mirren v Kilmarnock
  18. Ancelotti Martin Gerrard In that order of preference
  19. She never came the first time, he would drive straight down the road after games to see them. Pretty sure his eldest daughter lives in Dubai where she is shacked up with the son of one of the Kinahan cartel bosses, and is pregnant to him. Not ideal baggage that.
  20. I have a little fear with some of these RB Salzburg guys that did well there, went on elsewhere and couldn't replicate the same quality outcomes. Perhaps the issue is that the RB Salzburg model is the value add and difference maker, and not the coaches. Who just happened to be a good fit for that club at the time. Jesse March, Matthias Jaissle(spelling). Roger Schmidt, Adi Hutter. Are they good enough in their own right or did they just 'fit in' with the RB Salzburg model which led them to success, then rinse and repeat this elsewhere. Without replicating the success. If only we could replicate that successful club model..
