  8. http://www.insideworldfootball.com/world-football/europe/16259-hamburg-sv-announce-new-money-and-return-of-the-volksparkstadion Hamburg SV announce new money and return of the Volksparkstadion Published on Friday, 23 January 2015 15:01 Hamburg SVBy Mark Baber January 23 - Billionaire fan of Hambrg SV, Klaus-Michael Kühne, has become an official investor in the Bundesliga club, converting his latest loan of €18.75 million ($21.8million) into a 7.5% stake and buying the naming rights for the club's stadium which will revert to its old name of the 'Volksparkstadion' (People's Park Stadium) in July 2015. Kühne is executive chairman and majority owner of the international transport company Kühne + Nagel and has a net worth is $10.3 billion, according to Forbes. The name Volksparkstadion dates back to 1953 when a stadium was built from the ruins of what remained of Hamburg after the devastating RAF raids of July 1943 which killed over 40,000 people and destroyed whole districts of the city. HSV moved into the stadium in 1963 when the Bundesliga was set up, but in 2001 the stadium was renamed the AOL Arena as AOL bought the naming rights for €15.3 million. In 2007 the stadium became the HSH Nordbank Arena in a 6 year €25 million deal and in 2010 it took on its current name of the Imtech Arena. Hamburg chairman Dietmar Beiersdorfer said: "We are delighted that we now have a strategic partner in Mr. Kühne, who is a true HSV man and supporter. I am especially pleased that Mr. Kühne allows us to play in the Volksparkstadion again." Kühne himself said: "It was a matter of the heart for me that the home of HSV carries its initial name again. I wish that our team can return to the success of the past in the Volksparkstadion." From this summer HSV's stadium will be joining just two other Bundesliga stadiums without sponsored names - Werder Bremen's Weserstadion and Hertha Berlin's Olympic stadium. 9. I'm not the organiser.
  10. The splitters are a very very small minority within the fans groups so I think you are taking too much notice of these guys(and it seems to be guys). Both of the major fans groups members voted overwhelmingly in favour of holding merger talks, obviously these members must vote again on the finalised plan before any new group is formed. The talks are ongoing and must be held in confidence by all participants, the rest of us just need to have patience - all will be revealed in due course. I have faith in people like plgsarmy who are doing all the work in the background through their love of the club and belief in fans representation not to massage their ego's like some.
  11. RF members now being given advice from a pub on how to vote! Advice from the Louden Tavern on the Rangers First vote Vote for those who you think will put Rangers First Rangers First Elections Rangers First elections are live today, anyone who can vote should vote and put The Rangers first. Everyone will have their own opinions on who should be voted on, for what it is worth here are mine. In no particular order, James Blair James is company secretary of Rangers and is also secretary of Rangers First, he has been involved from the first meeting and been one of the reasons RF prospered, He is an outstanding Solicitor and a very decent human being, he like all the rest has never received a penny for the work he has undertook. Greg Marshall ( for those that don't know Greg is my son ) Greg has been with RF from the beginning and was instrumental in spreading the word through social media, he spent most of his time promoting RF through the various different outlets. Greg, if elected will always be available at The Louden on matchdays to address any issues that the members want clarified. He is an 1872 life member of RF and has been a season ticket holder since he was six. He also has a Honours degree in accounts from Glasgow University Richard Gough Our iconic 9 in a row captain ,Hall of Fame member and 1872 life member of RF, Despite stories elsewhere it was myself that asked Richard and he accepted without hesitation. Rangers worldwide Ambassador and would be a fantastic addition to the RF board, There is nothing else I need to say about Richard. Ricki Neil Since Ricki joined RF about 18 months ago he has worked his socks off and has grew into his role as RF spokesman in the last year and deserves to be re- elected. Iain Martin Iain is another one who has been involved in RF from the beginning and done a tremendous amount of work getting the working groups up and running. Stuart MacQuarrie He is a fine upstanding member of the community, the club chaplain and a former councillor so could bring a lot of skills to RF. For the final position I am struggling to choose as there are so many good choices. Lads like Peter Ewart and Derek Miller who have put so much work into Rangers First. Guys like Graeme Henderson who has bought large numbers of shares to try and help the club move forward. Vote for whoever you think will put Rangers First – RF is there to help Rangers and The Rangers Community and that is what the future board must do! Thanks Robert Marshall Founding Member of Rangers First The Louden Tavern: RF Life member #0001
  12. This is copied from RM. AH is insinuating that Chris Graham has attended club board meetings is he not? AH could easily have said no to the questioner but decided not to, why would he do that? He knows (or purports to know) who attended club board meetings but declines to absolve Chris Graham when given the chance. More politicking from AH and as I have stated before not very good at it. AH It has been suggested to me tonight that at least one of those who is taking part in the merger talks already attends Rangers Board Meetngs so perhaps there is some upward mobility built in there as well. Other poster Would that be CG? *Allegedly? AH You might think so but I couldn't possibly confirm.
  13. Aye an FF is an open forum , I cannot disagree with that, he banned me buts it's his forum. Edited bf
  14. Well you should read his twitter feed , he is always in the shadows , and you can believe all you like that he isnt involved He has one vote same as you and me. Just because he is in favour of something does not mean that you and I are wrong to also to be in favour.
  15. Hes is still there right beside you , have you read his twitter feed today , as for hatred , no , personal experience yes , , the people from the other org have been talking about proposals that will be going back to the RF membership , but you state it doesnt matter the new group will be going ahead anyway , your words not mine. The proposals being advanced is totally different to some people believing that RF will just roll over and get their bellies tickled , what was posted on twitter today was unbelievable , in a negative way, Can I also ask why as a lifetime RST member I have never been asked to vote on the proposal I fail to understand your feelings on this. I'm also,a life member of RST and not particularly a fan of Dingwall, but he ain't involved in the negotiations he is not even on the RST board. At the end of the day we all will have a vote, I'm sure all will be revealed then it's make your mind up time. Best not to let our distaste of certain individuals cloud our judgement.
  16. Rangers Supporters Charity Walk Up Ben Nevis Date: Saturday 4th June 2016 The charity challenge will be for the group to climb to the summit of Ben Nevis, which at 1344 metres is the highest point in the British Isles. The climb to the top of Ben Nevis should be achievable for anyone with a general level of fitness. The walk will take somewhere between 5 and 7 hours all in, to reach the top and get back down again. This will vary person to person depending on fitness, but we will wait on the summit for all the group to arrive before descending. This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself, see stunning views of Scotland from the highest point in the country, and to raise money for two excellent charities. For the challenge, we will have a bus leaving around 7am (tbc) and returning to Ibrox in the evening. To secure a place on the bus, a payment of £10 is required. The final price will be confirmed nearer the time, but if anything, shouldn't be much more than this. If you would like to take part then please send me a message for further details. You can sponsor us at the link below: http://justgiving.com/RFCBenNevis For anyone donating through the Just Giving page, we would ask that you tick the gift aid box. On Saturday 4th of June, a group of us will be leaving Glasgow for Fort William, with the aim of climbing Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom. The walk will take around 5-6 hours, and will see us climb to over 1300 metres. All money raised from the walk will be going to two very worthwhile charities; The Erskine Hospital for ex servicemen, and the Rangers Charity Foundation. Please donate whatever you can, and help us reach our target for these great causes.
  17. I think it would although it will never be 100% as can be seen by the machinations of a small minority at the moment. Most people believe in democracy so any decisions taken by the members of a merged group would be accepted. A merge group also gives the fans bigger clout when dealing with club. I be I believe that a merged group would be larger than the total now in the various groups.
  18. From FF by Mark Dingwall. I attach a report I wrote for the Rangers Supporters Trust back in 2012 after a meeting which effectively ended the Harris reign at SDS. A reign which saw it lose it’s full-time staff and funding. After the meeting I had a chat with Dame Pauline Green who said “You can’t imagine the problems that man has caused us.” Au contraire Dame Pauline! Green delivered a blistering critique of what she had found in Scotland while Harris tutted, rolled his eyes and ostentatiously flicked through a large folder oblivious to how deranged this appeared. Several attempts to correct Dame Pauline’s narrative were swatted away by a woman who was on a mission, had a very obvious command of her brief and without notes was able to quote the dates of meetings and emails. If it was a boxing match it would have been stopped as an obvious “no contest.” He didn’t hang around long after that. NB - I should note that my memory tells me he lost the crucial vote 11-4 but the email quoted below says 14-4. Supporters Direct Scotland consultative meeting at Stirling Albion FC, 1 April 2012 I have to report a mostly good meeting, the circumstances considered, yesterday at Stirling. BACKGROUND As a result of the cuts which had to be made following the dip in Supporter Direct UK funding both the SD Scotland full-timers James and Elaine were made redundant. Since the announcement of the funding cuts the current SD Scotland Council have struggled to find new sources of income apart from a stop-gap grant from the Scottish Government which was contingent on SD Scotland becoming more representative of football fans in general and not just trust members. That funding has now run out. There is an outline proposal from the Scottish Government to provide some funds but that was based on the formation of something akin to the Scottish Football Supporters Network that Harris has been touting - despite it not being approved by SD Scotland as a whole. Essentially Harris and his allies have formed it, sent out letters, set up a website, got a logo etc before there was an agreement by the member trusts to do so. THE MEETING It was obvious during the meeting and in private discussions afterwards that SDUK have been driven demented by Harris and his antics. The big guns of the organisation from London came up. The Secretary Clare Oakley; Chairperson Dame Pauline Green; Tom Hall, Policy and Development; Brian Burgess, Chief Executive and a secretarial support. Harris trotted out his usual self-serving cobblers - this included a moving passage where he felt very sorry for himself having to struggle with the question of transnational rights with the regard to obtaining a quote for a website (the dastardly SDUK office tried to stop him spending money) but informing us he had triumphed over adversity in managing (all by himself mind you) to obtain six quotes for lapel badges. Essentially it came down to this - having failed to obtain any new revenue the only option the current SD Scotland Council was able to present was the offer of jam tomorrow from the Scottish government should SDS transform itself from a trust organisation to a collection of variously constituted fan groups - associations, fan clubs, etc. Incredulously one of Harris’s cohort said that he believed “Supporters Direct was a toxic brand in Scotland” and that his advice was to stop using the word Trust! Dame Pauline noted several times that the recollection of events Harris provided was simply untrue. THE BIG VOTE The main vote was to retain or disband SD Scotland in it’s current form - that went 14 to 4 in favour of retention. The second vote was wether or not to continue with a funding application to the Scottish Government on the basis that SD would ‘project manage’ a feasibility study into the possibility of a coherent fans network. There was a decent debate about this with some feeling it was SFSN by the backdoor but in the end Brian Burgess’ involvement in it and the idea of discussing it after finally getting proper consultation at the SD Scotland Conference/AGM in May/June met there was a unanimous vote to proceed. OVERVIEW Finally people have seen through Harris. His only supporters were members of the Board of SD Scotland who have worked with him over the last year and are obviously under his spell. The trusts themselves were very anti the idea of the network in principle and raging about the sneaky way it had been presented as a fait accompli. Likewise, the people up from England have obviously had enough of him and want him out. Harris had apparently said he would resign in he didn’t get his way but I think we all know that is unlikely, his ego won’t let him. The Celtic Trust actually called for a vote on no-confidence in him but Dame Pauline ruled that out as the meeting was not competent to do that. Other trusts represented are now openly calling for Harris and Co to be got rid of and are taking steps to ensure that the Conference/AGM is worked towards to ensure he is a goner and the values of onemember-onevote, openness, good governance etc.
