Tony Bloom makes offer for 29% of Hearts
BEARGER replied to BEARGER's topic in General Football Chat
Brighton owner Bloom bids for 29% stake in Hearts Brian McLauchlin BBC Sport Scotland Senior Reporter Brighton & Hove Albion owner Tony Bloom has made a formal offer of just under £10m to take a 29% stake in Heart of Midlothian. The proposal will be considered by fans' group Foundation of Hearts (FoH) - the major shareholder in the Scottish Premiership club - and must receive more than 50% approval from its members to be successful. A consultation period will end on 26 May, with the vote taking place after an extraordinary general meeting is held. Bloom would be purchasing non-voting rights shares, which would not impact the 75.1% voting rights held by FoH. If successful, Bloom would also be entitled to one place on the board, but is expected to appoint a representative rather than take up the position himself. FoH is recommending the terms are accepted and should this happen the Scottish FA would then be required to give its approval for the deal to be concluded. In a statement issued to its members, FoH says the proposed investment is a personal one and Hearts will not become a feeder club for Premier League side Brighton or Belgium's Union Saint-Gilloise - where Bloom is a minority shareholder - or part of a multi-club system. It also says Bloom believes Hearts can "disrupt Scottish football" and that he wants to be a part of a "glorious chapter" in the Edinburgh club's history. Bloom's investment has been the topic of conversation for many Hearts supporters ever since his name became linked with the club last year. If approved - and there is little reason to see why it wouldn't be - the cash will come at just the right time for the club. With no European football to look forward to next season, the income for 2025/26 will be substantially reduced from that of this current campaign. And with investment in the squad badly needed after a hugely disappointing term, an additional near £10m will be more than welcomed within the Hearts board. But as we have witnessed in the past, money does not ultimately lead to success. It's about how it is spent. Value for money should be key to every transaction. In a statement to its members The Foundation of Hearts, the clubs majority shareholder, says Bloom wants to "disrupt Scottish football" and to be part of " a glorious chapter" in the club's history. By that, Bloom undoubtedly means challenging the top two clubs in the country. That will not come, but he is up for the challenge. -

It now seems we have to take our standards from them. No PWE, no restraints on what we do as long as they do the same.

I just do not accept this nonsense/lies from the board. Do they not scrutinise these things? Is there no conversation between club and UB? Rangers have condemned fans for unfurling an "unacceptable" banner appearing to show former manager Graeme Souness holding a gun during Saturday's Scottish Premiership game against city rivals Celtic. The tifo display was shown as the players emerged from the Ibrox tunnel before Sunday's 1-1 draw. Rangers have also condemned the actions of a supporter who threw a glass bottle on to the pitch during the Old Firm derby. Objects landed near Celtic goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, with Rangers substitute Neraysho Kasanwirjo, who had been warming up nearby, entering the pitch to remove the bottle. It was the first time Celtic fans have been able to attend an Old Firm derby at Ibrox since January 2023 after an agreement was reached to resolve a dispute over ticket allocations. "Rangers Football Club condemns the actions of the individual who threw a bottle during today's match," a Rangers spokesman said. "This behaviour has no place at our stadium. Steps have already been taken to identify the person responsible and the club will take the strongest possible action once their identity is confirmed. "We also acknowledge that the tifo displayed prior to kick-off crossed a line and was unacceptable. Our approach to supporter displays has always been built on trust, with the responsibility placed on groups to exercise good judgement. "We will reflect on how these displays are managed and engage with supporter groups to ensure the right balance of trust, responsibility and oversight is maintained moving forward. "Rangers is proud of its passionate fanbase and we all share a duty to protect the standards and reputation of our club." A Police Scotland spokesperson told BBC Scotland: "We are aware of the banner and enquiries are ongoing." Any potential charges brought against Rangers by the Scottish Professional Football League could depend on whether the incidents are included in the match delegate's report. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c98gz89n75po

Changed my mind on Cerny in the last wee while. Guy has talent but no heart, never wins a 50/50. If you don't give 100% and are also having a poor game, youre contibuting nothing.

I would sleep a lot easier if Ferguson would just say “ I will not be manager next season”. -

Took a wee trip to see the Sons yesterday, couple of things stood out. 1. Webster our loanee looked a useful player. Son of Andy😳 2. Game was held up in second half due to fire alarm. All fans on the pitch for 10 minutes or so, no fire brigade in attendance. Surely all football grounds fire systems are connected to fire service? 3. Not one person left the ground before full time! Lesson there for some of our fans.

For the first time in our history we have gone 8 consecutive league games where we have lost 2 goals or more.

From the Daily Record Rangers close to new sporting director appointment with Barry Ferguson and Nils Koppen to learn their fates The search begun by Patrick Stewart back in February is nearing the end game with the new man expected to be announced imminently SPORT Ross Pilcher 19:04, 22 Apr 2025Updated 19:35, 22 Apr 2025 Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart The appointment of a new sporting director at Rangers is imminent. Record Sport understands the new man is set to be announced sooner rather than later, having been given the tour following negotiations. CEO Patrick Stewart has been leading the process, having confirmed back in February that the hunt was on, and the new man will be in charge of the whole footballing operation at Ibrox, which needs attention. Stewart said: “We are now in the market for a Sporting Director. “That role will put someone right at the top of the football tree; an experienced football person who will be responsible for all aspects of the football club to ensure they’re working together towards fulfilling our holistic joined-up plan." Article continues below And Record Sport's Keith Jackson revealed on Hotline Live that conformation is coming, which could have different repercussions for interim boss Barry Ferguson and technical director Nils Koppen. He said: "I'm told Rangers are very close to appointing a sporting director. Really close. They know who it is they want. "Patrick Stewart is in charge of this one. I think they've got their guy and it will be announced sooner rather than later. "That's going to be fascinating, to see who it is and his beliefs, views and philosophies. Also, what he thinks about the guy that's currently sitting in the dugout. "Because if he fancies Barry Ferguson, then who knows? There's a whole load if imponderables but that will be the first thing that happens. "Rangers fans can expect an appointment in that position very soon. "Again, that kind of moves Nils Koppen a little bit further out of the equation and he goes back to doing whatever it is that he's been doing. "If Rangers were serious about it, they'd need to take a look at his handiwork, assess it and say 'I'm not sure that we really need you in charge anywhere near the recruitment side of the club.'"

Thanks, that’s very kind of you.

Ta, but printer only does A4 looking for A3 or A2.

The commercial side of things should improve. The amount of items on the 49ers website dwarfs ours. I know they have a bigger fan base.

Where’s best to acquire, framed or unframed a picture of Ibrox?

Chris Graham, still in the background at Club1872.

I see Dave King’s fanboy at Club1872 is suggesting the takeover may gather speed now we are out of Europe. Says the sellers have no reason to hang on now, from DK?
