I have never met CG nor have I ever had any dealings with him but the letter over his signature reads true to me both in what it says and in what it doesn't say, as highlighted in the SFA letter. I have been in around a dozen meetings with Stewart Regan both directly (on behalf of SDS and FFS) and where we were both participants in the JRG and the SFA letter does not look like his work to me. He is a man of few words, he is clever but he is not a great intellectual or a debater, nor can I see him writing at such length. He tends to home in on one or two particular points and then keep repeating them. For what it's worth the letter looks genuine to me, but I agree with you that it was written by a lawyer. One reason I say that is lawyers are paid by the word or the page and there are numerous places in this letter where two sentences have been used where one would suffice.

Where can one view the leaked letters?

There are a number of possibilities: An option of subscribing for shares could be offered alongside the membership fee. The structure of the Club might be altered Members might be offered new shares If the membership scheme is successful in giving fans a voice on certain issues then they might be encouraged to have a greater voice by becoming shareholders. A benevolent existing shareholder might be inclined to gift shares to a members block rather than sell on the open market I am sure there are more.

The lunatics must be running the asylum now if this is anything more than an elaborate hoax. You would need to be utterly desperate to sell three long term assets to generate enough cash to see out the season, quite apart from the figures not making sense. There are more holes in this than (well make up your own metaphor).

Then you will never have a membership scheme. RST raised £250k recently at a time of great crisis and very commendable too, and has raised other money over the years for share purchase in Gersave but these amounts are trivial in terms of ownership. You need 10x - 100x that amount to begin to be a serious player in terms of ownership. I joined the RST because I thought it WAS possible although I didn't agree with the way RST was going about it and hoped to change that. The problem as you well know is that all the serious money players have their own agendas, as we are witnessing right now. A membership scheme is achievable and affordable now for most fans and I would suggest might even be a means to a long term end.

Leggat is correct that you have to complete Money laundering procedures when you open a new account in a bank or with an investment company but provided that the institution are satisfied with the source and destination of funds they are not obliged to complete Money Laundering for subsequent transactions unless they have reason to be suspicious. In any event it is the Bank's problem, so why would the SFA be asking Rangers?

I agree with that.

The threats etc were all published on web sites and Police records would show both to be true but glad to know I'm not TOP of the list Hopefully publishing a germ of an idea for the benefit of fans and club alike won't push me to the top.

The OP came out of rbr's original thread highlighting AB's article, a one hour meeting with AB and some batting back and forward of the text and I can only repeat that it wasn't meant to be anything more than testing the waters in very general terms. One of the reasons why I referred to next season was that it would take a lot of time to get it right and in one of the posts I did suggest that a working party be set up to take it forward. Another reason that I alluded to was that hopefully some stability would have returned to the board room by then. A fully worked up proposal would require weeks if not months of work and rightly or wrongly we thought that this might be a good time to start the ball rolling. Thank you for your confidence in my experience; certainly I could help to produce a working document or at least certain aspects of it beginning with a constitution and regardless of your comments would be more than happy to help but I am getting the message loud and clear. I absolutley agree with that and I did refer to various channels e.g. web site, programmes, magazines, supporters clubs, Assembly, Asscoiation, Trust, NARSA etc etc, as a means to do it at little or no cost to the Club.

Yes he did and that's to his eternal credit, but I think you would have too, for 15 grand a week. I actually think that it's to his greater credit that he was prepared to play second fiddle to McGregor for so long (when he wasn't getting the appearance money, so on a lot less than last season) and stepped in and did a great job in cup ties and in the UEFA Cup run, when gregs was injured. Yes, good luck to him.

Thank you for your frank comments. The OP wasn't meant to be a fully fledged proposal, if it was this wouldn't have been the place to launch it. It was a broad outline of some ideas and there have been many useful comments including those from TB, which I acknowledged in terms of the fees etc and amended the OP accordingly. However I think you could have made your point without referring to it as , which is quite derogatory. I am not sure I agree with you about needing the (when what you really mean, at least in relation to FF, is the public blessing of Mr Dingwall). I am certainly prepared to move on for the good of the Club and find it deeply regrettable that apparently others are not like minded. If an idea has merit, then surely a major forum should allow it to be discussed, regardless of any enmity towards the proposer, anything else only weakens that forum IMHO. However, I don't see that that means that I can't propose a membership scheme and am comforted by the fact that 20 people (including your good self) have thanked me for the OP, which is a very high number for this forum, as I'm sure you will agree.

We just bought out the lease to the Albion, if we sell and leaseback does that mean that Imran owes US money? Seriously can't see that happening or with Ibrox either; but Murray Park might be attractive because of its development potential. Difficult to see how the Club could get a deal on good terms given our current situation and I would see it as very much a last resort type thing. The Club has to become self-financing, that's the top priority.

You have to be CB: for the Boardroom, the Team, the weather in Stranraer, a return to Europe

I'm sorry but I think this confuses share ownership and a membership scheme once again. Unless the Club ceases to be a plc, the only way to gain "control" is to buy sufficient shares, ergo the current battle amongst the investors. RST raised £250k when the chips were down, very commendable but doesn't look at what is needed. If you started with a blank sheet of paper, then the German model is what most fans would go for, I'm sure; sadly we don't have a blank sheet of paper. But a large membership base would be powerful and influential and could gain Board seats depending on the size of the membership; ultimately the legal structure of the Club might change but I don't see that happening any time soon. SDM could have given the fans his shares for £1 but the fans didn't have £30M to invest (of course neither did CW, but that is another story). Masterton & Co wrote off all their debt which is why the fans now own Dunfermline; but the bigger the Club the harder it would be to make that happen, can't see people like CG doing that any time soon, can you? Of course Craig Whyte promised..............

I did a bit of googling and see someone kindly put it on RangersMedia where it's had a mixed reception but generally positive.

He is a semi retired accountant who wrote this article http://www.therangersstandard.co.uk/index.php/articles/current-affairs/276-fan-involvement-an-alternative-model, that was posted here by rbr before the recent crash. I managed to connect with him but had never met him till yesterday.

Really, taken down? How petty, everyone on here seems to think it's a idea with merit.

It's not going to be on the agenda of the EGM.

I think that's a very fair point of view and one that I would respect and convey back. On the other hand if a director did take it up it would be no bad thing and obviously essential to have Board support to get it moving.

Yes of course, it's not something I shy away from; I am proud of the contribution I tried to make in terms of financial management, the rules of gersnet etc; but let's not dwell on the past, the future of our Club is what matters now.

Quite so, I was going to ask if my nom de plume was attached but no doubt someone will refer back here anyway; hopefully there will be no threats of violence this time.

No problem. I was kind of hoping someone might! As you know I don't go there (I was barred once and politely declined a kind offer of reinstatement from Mr Dingwall.) No doubt you will report back here.

TB, thanks for this helpful contribution; I think if you read my subsequent posts you will see that I agree with you in all the areas I have highlighted and don't disagree with you on anything. I did only refer to the first year free or at nominal cost for season ticket holders to give the scheme some momentum; equally it would be possible to restrict benefits for that period; but broadly I agree with £5 per month/ £50 - £60 per year. I have inserted a line in the OP to make that clear. The exact constitution of Scheme could be proposed in a document drawn up a by group of people, perhaps including say one club director, someone like Jim Hannah or Sandy Jardine (if up to it) and some supporters representatives drawn from forums etc assisted by the Club's solicitors, but for the reasons highlighted I would suggest that any current serving member of the Boards of the Assembly, RSA or RST would not be eligible because there MAY be a conflict of interest. But let's not sweat the small stuff at this point, the important thing is to see if the idea gains traction over the next few days. It is arguable that the fans best chance of influencing events at the club was lost in 2010 (how much influence do the RST have now for their £250K?) but I can't see that there can be any better timing than now, when McColl & Co are almost begging for support.
