Given the war of words that's broken out, which just isn't McColl's style at all; I'd say Ian Black could put one of his famous fivers on it. -

Only shareholders can requisition an EGM and that's what's happened; we'll know tomorrow whether it's going ahead as one off or part of the AGM. The point about the RFF is interesting however because the last information on their web site is As of 12 November 2012 the Fund stands at: £530,663.59 Time for an update methinks. Also according to their web site the Committee is still: Walter Smith Ally McCoist Sandy Jardine Jim Hannah Andy McCormick Robert Roddie William Montgomery Mark Dingwall Dick Spence Andrew Kerr David McCutcheon John McKee Jim Riddell I have never been comfortable with the fact that there are Rangers employees on the Committee; though I appreciate that a certain amount of Club input would be required as to financial priorities, I don't think that justifies being on the Committee. At the same time Chair, Andrew McCormack, is Ally McCoist (and Ian Durrant)'s agent; so that doesn't seem entirely independent either. For the avoidance of doubt I am not suggesting any wrongdoing here; but an update on expenditure and some clarification about the committee might be in order. -
Until recently he was the USSF US Youth Soccer Technical Director. But I must say I had missed this in May: Manchester City have announced former player Claudio Reyna as director of football for their New MLS team. Former City midfielder Reyna will take on the role for New York City FC, the MLS franchise bought by the deposed Premier League champions in partnership with the New York Yankees baseball team. Former US international Reyna, who played for City under Kevin Keegan, said: "Having had the privilege of playing both for my country in the US and Manchester City in England, I could not have hoped for a more tailor-made opportunity in soccer. "I'm incredibly excited to again wear City's sky blue as part of the expansion of the MLS and the growth of soccer in the US. "With a large fan base through the New York area, prime television rights and distribution, sponsorship commitments and the Yankees as a US partner, the New York City Football Club has everything in place to succeed." City chief executive Ferran Soriano said: "finding the right person for the role and getting him in place from the start was a priority. New York City FC name Claudio Reyna director of football operations http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/05/22/new-york-city-fc-name-claudio-reyna-director-football-operations Pity he didn't think to mention Rangers; but then New York Rangers (ice hockey) is already taken!

Excellent, brought back all the memories. Love the spectator calmly puffing on his pipe. What a winner from Ralph Brand and Bobby Shearer lifts the Cup, classic.

Yes, of course; but the point I was making was that the devil will be in the detail or more likely the detail that isn't shown and to that extent it will be up to the auditors agreeing with the directors as to how much detail is shown and how much is hidden as simply "other/general expenses" whilst still presenting a "true and fair view". I recognise also that much will depend on the size of these expenses vis-a-vis the total expenditure.

I think one could say that they have been very astute in most of their dealings, Hooper being a prime example. We might have been in a similar position with Jelavic, Naismith and the likes of Davis had it not been for our financial woes. Mind you we have had a few good ones: Hutton - £9,000,000 pure profit after 8 years and some outstsanding performances in Europe in 2007/08 van Bronkhorst - approx £3,500,000 profit (bought for £5.0M or £5.5M sold for £8.5M) and according to SDM one of a very few players ever to leave Rangers and better themselves. Boumsong - £8,000,000 pure profit in less than 6 months (less his cut/agents etc) and some questions asked! Cuellar - approx £5,500,000 profit (bought for £2.3M sold for £7.8M) after playing a record 65 times for Rangers in 2007/08 and stating he wanted to stay for life! but I can't remember any in the past 5 years and it might be a while till we're in that position again, unless one of the young lads really comes good.

Yes inded it is and I plan to use for something that I hope everyone will be up for, in the near future. Watch this space.

Quite so; but isn't that the auditors job?

It might well be that Mather knew that Easdale & Co were about to reappoint Media House and knew the damage it would cause; so told Traynor to get the retaliation in first.

Yes indeed, I suspect a large amount of "other expenses" might appear in the accounts.

Wouldn't argue with the CL income, Zappa; but given they have a squad of around 30 first team players and a wage bill commensurate, how much of that is actually profit? Also bear in mind their average attendance SPL is down 10,000+ over the last two or three seasons and only 1,000 more than us last season and we would have had a fraction of their wage bill.

Undoubtedly, if the Directors have determined that is an appropriate expense; although that would seem to be highly debatable at best and an exercise in self-preservation at worst.

It's ludicrous; if you put it in a script for a play no one would believe it. No wonder Traynor and Mather seemed to having a heated exchange before the kick-off.

With Jimmy Millar playing slightly behind Ralph Brand as the "twin strikers" of the day; I will never forget the two late goals they scored in the '64 Cup Final against Dundee. When Jimmy Millar scored to put Rangers 2-1 up with a few minutes to go, a drunk beside me who couldn't see past the spectators in front said, "Is it a goal" to which I replied "Yes it's a goal". When Brand scored his second to put the result beyond doubt, he said "Is is another goal" and I replied "Yes, and we've won the cup".

Absolutely no idea mate.

You might think so, but I couldn't possibly confirm.

I would always play my best team from the start, that way you have the option of keeping them on or changing later as you suggest. If you leave one of your best players on the bench, you may never have the opportunity to bring him on, or only when it's too late.

Fair enough; I was putting all fans (which may well not be the case of course) + Laxey in the McCollCo column; but for sure a lot of unknowns/undecided at this stage.

This is a very tough shout, my new friend; and I know full well where most Rangers fans stand on this issue. BUT, the problem is that unless A Scottish team or two start putting up some points for the coefficent (and barring a Scottish Cup win and early accounts next season, which seems an unlikley combination) we are going to be somewhere around 25th - 30th in the country rankings by the time we get back in, in 2016/17, so if we win the SPFLP in 2015/16 we would start in CLQ3 (as Celtic this year) and if 2nd or 3rd in the SPFLP quite possibly the ELQ4, which would mean four ties starting early July even to get to the group stages and trips to places like Kazakhstan in the Q1, which as Celtic found out are by no means a given. For the avoidance of doubt and debate I am not saying that I would like to see Celtic pile up all that cash (and here note that with their high wage bill it is certainly not all profit) just pointing out the harsh realities of NO Scottish team getting beyond the qualifiers. Ideally the other 3 would all qualify and Celtic get gubbed but unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world.

To mix some metaphors it's going to be a bloodbath and all our dirty linen is about to be washed in public (as if most of it hadn't been already). If you count up the percentages I make it almost 50/50 right now.

Yes, Chistine, both of us are, thanks for pointing out, may have to puchase a copy! Are you stalking me, or is someone else, may have to start wearing a hoodie. Not my best profile perhaps, if indeed I have a good profile.
