The Summer 2013 Transfers and Rumours Thread
BrahimHemdani replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Correct, thats why I said at #418. -
Yes, leaving out McLoed was probably a mistake, right at this minute he would be ahead of Templeton. And I would beg leave to sub Miller for Little if he comes. Don't see Peralta as a RB, especially now that we have a "specialist" for that position.

If it's Jan window that makes more sense but then we would need to pay a fee, unless he's so dire for Vancouver that they free him then. At 34, he would do a job in the SPFL1 and SPFLC but by the time we get to the SPFLP he will be going on 36 and that's a bit of a stretch even for a fit guy like him, is it not? -

Wow, that came from left field, but why would they do that? Might need to change my "full team" on the new thread. -
What would be your full team if everyone was fit and eligible to play? I'll start it off with this XI :rf::sf: :ap::ib: :jd::al: No sitting on the fence with subs!

Ally told him that he hadn't spoken to Kenny Miller and in any event as Richard Gordon said, he's just signed a new contract and the MLS are hardly going to free him. -
No, it wasn't mean to be sarcastic, just my humble opinion; but having expressed my opinion, I'm more than happy to leave it at that; might be a generational thing.

Richard Wilson - 'Miles to go' but McCoist confident of moving on
BrahimHemdani replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I agree with that especially after having met him one day in June when he had a clutch of players detail sheets in his hand and told me that he needed: 2 CB's, a RB, a "wide player", and 1 "no two" strikers. Seems to me he has got most of that wish list and perhaps more (in the shape of Peralta) though personally I would question the point of Smith who is not a serious challenger to Wallace and may only get an occasional game in LMF to the exclusion of the likes of Aird. However, McCoist's biggest failing in the eyes of most fans I speak to is his total lack of tactical awareness; now if he could address that somehow........ Edit: I should add that McCoist also said "but no one wants to come" (and perhaps we had to pay over the odds wages wise to get them); but it does add to the achievement that on the whole the signings look like a good bunch. -

Some excellent points. -
Regardless of your obsessions or political opinions or indeed those of others, I personally find those comments quite offensive reading and I am sure you can manage to express your opinions without resorting to gutter language.

I have spoken to JG on two or three occasions and whilst he is certainly not the Brain of Britain I think he would have been a valuable asset on the Board (provided he was allowed to get his views across) to represent the values of Rangers Football Club, which are clearly a mystery to many who have been directors before and since. He had the good grace to resign when it was clear that his views and indeed those of John McClelland et al were no longer welcome to CW.

Found this: Since Claudio Reyna’s Rangers debut was against Dundee at Tannadice and not Dens Park you may be saying it was a trick question. You would be right that it is a trick but wrong with the answer. Claudio’s first three competitive games in Scotland were at Pittodrie !! Going back to my previous post “FIFA Under 16 World Cup Scotland 1989″. Claudio played in all the USA’s three games in Group B based at Pittodrie. They opened with a 1-0 win against Brazil, but lost heavily to East Germany by 5-2. The were 2-0 against Australia after 70 minutes only to lose two late goals and miss out on qualification. http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2008/10/19/claudio-reynas-debut-in-scotland/ and this: The most influential player of his generation, and arguably one of the few US outfield players to merit the label ‘world class’, Reyna was the focal point of the US midfield for the best part of a decade up until his retirement from the international game after the 2006 World Cup. There have been two sides to Reyna’s career, however. One has been the consistent on-field success of a player who moved across the top leagues of Europe, playing for storied sides such as Glasgow Rangers, Sunderland and Manchester City, while remaining a pivotal figure in the US team as its captain and midfield marshal. The other has been of a frustrating sense that, if it hadn’t been for a series of injuries, he could have achieved even more. Reyna’s 31 World Cup qualifying games tie him for the most in team history. Highlights of his National Team career include the brilliant assist on DaMarcus Beasley’s key goal in the World Cup clinching a 2-0 victory against Mexico in the fall of 2005. And at the 2002 World Cup he demonstrated why he is often regarded as the best US field player ever, using his skill, vision and composure to lead the team to the quarter-finals, and being named to the competition’s Best XI. After a career in the German Bundesliga, Reyna won a Scottish Premier League championship at Glasgow Rangers, and competed in the prestigious UEFA Champions League. He was also highly regarded in the English Premier League at Manchester City, but suffered too many injuries to be consistently effective. Reyna retired from international soccer at the end of the 2006 World Cup after playing in all three games for the US. He left the program with 112 caps, the fourth-highest total in history. In 2007 he joined RB New York in Major League Soccer as one of the team’s two Designated Players. In April of 2010, Reyna was named the US Soccer Federation’s technical director for youth soccer. In 2012, he was elected as a first ballot inductee to the National Soccer Hall of Fame. In May of 2013 Reyna took the job of Director of Football at New York City FC, the new MLS expansion team scheduled to begin play in 2015. http://www.ussoccerplayers.com/player/reyna-claudio

EXCLUSIVE: Emilson Cribari rejects chance to quit Ibrox
BrahimHemdani replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Nothing Rangers can do about it if he decides to sit tight, other than pay him off and since Pandza is unlikely to be cheaper the maths simply don't add up, even if there's logic in it from a playing sense. Mohsni and Faure or McCulloch look just fine to me. Much as I think that Kenny Miller would be better than anything else we have in the striking department at the moment (including Daly), he is 34 in December and if he comes in then young Clark is not going to get a game (he'll struggle as it is) so what's the point in the short or long term? -

As reported in a new thread this morning if someone like Cribari doesn't want to leave (for lower wages and who would blame him) then there is not much else you can do except subsidise those wages and probably add a golden goodbye, e.g. pay him off. -

You can't just "free" a player who is under contract, if he doesn't accept it. If you were Goian or Bocanegra would you have "accepted" a free, I doubt it? Hutton and Perry aren't fit. Hutton may well be needed if Black gets suspended either for the betting thing or if he goes back to his old ways with yellow/red cards. Argyriou, Hegarty and Cribari look the most likely loan/sale candidates to me apart from Gallagher and even so it is by no means certain that a"borrowing" club would be willing or able to pick up the full tab, in terms of wages. Barry Mackay must be a candidate as well, as he seems well out the picture at the moment. One has to assume from all the noise Ally has made, that they have some club lined up to take Gallagher and guarantee him a game. Buying Bell was a mistake in my opinion and taking on Simonsen would just compound it, as far as I am concerned. Gallagher could have played through the divisions and been ready for the Premiership, he's not a kid after all. -
You are correct but when Kanchelskis or Albertz played, Reyna usually went to right back.
-
Slight exaggeration perhaps
-
And Tugay was about 6th or 7th on our list of midfielders at the time, what a team we had then.

Would you hire a bus from them, never mind buy a used car? BTW what are they doing at Murray Park, do they have coaching badges as well as coaches

The Rangers Standard: Toxic Mediahouse and Rangers Toxic Board'.
BrahimHemdani replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
I don't read newspapers very often and I don't really know who is who amongst journalists or media houses that are allegedly pro or anti Rangers or one director or another (perhaps I should but I care more about how the team plays than off field politics) but this piece poses a lot of valid questions. However, THE most valid question right now, as Zappa rightly says, is who the bleedin' hell is running our Club. We don't have a Chairman and clearly the CEO is not in charge of day to day events as is amply demonstrated in the article. If it is Charles Green or Sandy Easdale, neither of whom are directors or employees (well not so far as we know) then there is something far amiss. If this situation isn't resolved soon then both the football and the regulatory authorities (neither of whom need an invitation) will start to take an interest. I am not a lawyer, far less a corporate lawyer but it seems to me that the question that would have to be asked here would be in terms of The Companies Act 2006: 6.2.2. Duty to act for the benefit of the company. Sec172 (1) A director of a company must act in the way he considers, in good faith, would be most likely to promote the success of the company in appointing or rather re appointing Media House, were the directors acting "to promote the success of the company " or themselves? If it could be proven, on the balance of probabilities, that they were acting to promote themselves rather than the company then they might be held personally liable for the expense. However, it's one thing having a perception or suspicions it's quite another (expensive) thing proving it in a court of law. A future Board could bring a claim against the current directors and in certain circumstances may even be able to invalidate the contract. I have also found that with the permission of the court, shareholders can bring a claim against a director in the name of the company. The claim is initiated and run by shareholders, but it is brought in the company’s name and to recover the company’s loss. (Need to get on or there'll be no Berwick preview!)- 20 replies

Lets have an EGM right NOW and would you pay for it?
BrahimHemdani replied to JTP's topic in Rangers Chat
Nothing I have said in this thread should be construed as disagreeing with any of that. -
Bit more than that actually. (Wikipedia) Sold for £4,000,000 so a modest profit. An excellent MF player who nonethless couldn't get a game in the Rangers midfield of the day (and neither could Tugay) that featured Barry Ferguson, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, sometimes Jorge Albertz and Ronald de Boer. Reyna spent most of his time at RB.
