[quote=GovanAllan;284345 But then it's just the opinion of one Rangers fan and what's that worth these days. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just think that Rangers have to set their own standards and not worry about others whose standards might not be as high as ours. I didn't say that he should be sacked, it would depend on Rangers view of the offence (if proven) and it may well be that a first and final warning might be the answer. I'm afraid that I just don't see what this has to do with the Catholic Church, whether they are morally bankrupt or not. However, one thing that you might want to consider is that in many ways the new legislation (nothing to do with this incident of course) is targeted at Celtic fans who sing pro-IRA songs etc and attempt to justify them on the grounds of political comment, which the police and prosecutors find well nigh impossible to deal with at present but which will be caught under the OBB. I'm just saying that against that background, any Rangers player, official or fan who offends against the current law is only adding fuel to the fire.

More than happy with this, Zappa, thanks a lot; but I'll look around another time.

Looks good to me, if you can get it in without cutting off the top of his head that would be great.

Well my MP has written to Lesley Strathie, apparently the Chief Executive of HMRC; maybe he can get her to sort out Rangers tax bill too.

I couldn't disagree with you more GA. In the first place, I don't get escorted out of night clubs at 2.00am and in the second place I don't get arrested for sectarian comments in private or in public. No player's career wil be adversely affected by playing for Rangers, on the contrary in most cases their career will be enhanced by playing for our great Club. A player's career will only be affected by his own actions. Playing for Rangers is a privilege but with that privilege and lifestyle comes a responsibility to behave and conduct oneself responsibly. This has never been more true than in today's climate where the Government are set to introduce a law on unacceptable conduct at football. Players are role models and must lead by example. In my opinion Rangers Foootball Club and its employees should set the highest standards of conduct and IF Mr Adam is found guilty then he should face a severe penalty. I don't give two hoots how Celtic or Aberdeen deal with their employees or how the media scrutinise them, so long as our Club does the right thing.

Leggat - regan and lawwell's sfa poppy shame
BrahimHemdani replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
An absolute disgrace, regardless of any SPL decision or non decision, last Saturday was the nearest fixture to the 11th in terms of a game at Ibrox and should have been observed especially with the troops there, what a silent minute that would have been. Inexplicable and inexcusable. If I didn't have so many other questions to ask, I would ask it at the AGM (if we ever have one). -
I wouldn't count on it but time to pay has to be a real possibility, especially if it was settled out of court.

The only precedents that would be relevant to Rangers would be what they have done in similar situations (if any) in the past or what other clubs have done in similar circumstances. Of course that doesn't mean that Rangers shouldn't hold their players to higher standards than others.
-
The current SPL Rule only relates to "Unacceptable Conduct at a stadium on the occasion of an official match". I belive it might be possible for the SFA to take action but I think that is highly unlikely. Undoubtedly, however, there will be clause in the player's contract about "bringing the club into disrepute" and IF he is found guilty then that is most likely the route they would go down IF they were minded to take action. Whether he would get a first and final warning rather than be subject to instant dismissal might depend on Rangers' view of the severity of the offence, his previous record, and any similar situations in the past. I'm not sure how far he would get with a "silly wee boy" defence given how high profile this stuff is at the moment. Again, IF he is found guilty, the best solution might be a transfer in January. Contrast with the proposed clause in the OBB, where it would be an offence to engage in offensive behaviour that would be likely to provoke public disorder not just at a regulated football match but also on a journey to or from a regulated football match whether or not the person attended or intended to attend the match.

And they have owed me a small sum in overpaid PAYE and NIC since May; it took them 3 months even to acknowledge the claim and another 2 to confirm it was valid and still no repayment. If I owed tax for 6 months they'd have the Sheriff Officers at my door but there seems to be nothing an individual or individual company can do to fight back. I have sent the papers to my MP.

Opposition fails in bid to derail anti-sectarian Bill
BrahimHemdani replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
My wife took me to see this as a birthday treat, thought it was utterly appaling, I walked out at half time, she stayed just to make a point! -
It's a fair question, Craig, and all I can say is it's JMHO based on what I know of the facts and also talking to some accountants who have experience of tax avoidance schemes. As a mere financial adviser you will appreciate that I have no experience of such matters!

Rangers Owner Craig Whyte Meets With Bigoted Vanguard Bears Group
BrahimHemdani replied to Ergatrude's topic in Rangers Chat
I don't know anything about this Andy Muirhead and all I know about the Vanguard Bears came to me via the remnants of the "old guard" at the RST so I take it with a pinch of salt; but what I did find surprising was that in contrast to the RST report of the meeting with Mr Whyte, the VB report did not name those who attended on their behalf. Do they have something to hide? I also noticed that they seemed to spend as much time justifying their own existence as questioning Mr Whyte.- 20 replies

Interesting that just this point was made by none other than Jeanette Findlay at the Justice Committee hearings. Can't be many occasions when Rangers and Celtic fans are singing from the same hymn sheet. Look out for the Politics Show on Sunday. -
NO, I don't think you are (misunderstanding the situation). As I see it, Whyte is on a no lose. If we win the tax case (unlikely in my view) he writes off the debt but owns the Club which is then worth two or three times his investment. If we lose then as you say, the "investments" become debts and he can sell the Club debt free and make a quick turn on his money, simples. Or am I missing the point?

We would have to start in SFL3.

"Allez, Jerome," as his 3-man French fan club from Paris chanted in Stuttgart, when he made the pass for Bougherra to score; I know he was slow but might have been an idea to play him on the left considering he could barely stand let alone kick it with his right. -
Actually they are white with blue tops, but some of the players (maybe those with shorter legs!) seem to cover over the blue tops! To me that makes the overall effect very ordinary, the black and red make us look special, especially in European games. It might have been Advocat who said that he preferred the white for night games, as it was easier to pick out a pass to the white socks. We may have worn the blue/white agaisnt Aberdeen because of a clash with their red socks and to a lesser extent the maroon of Hearts. One recent season we changed to red with black tops and I recall speaking to a certain Mr Johnston about it after the AGM and he said he'd get it fixed for next season, which he did; so he did get something right. I recall reading that Bill Struth went around the dressing room before a game with a ruler measuring that the players wore the socks with exactly one inch of black above the red, you can see it in the old photographs, I would like to see that again. Tradition is very important, we should always wear royal blue shirts, white shorts and black and red socks whenever possible and away with this third strip nonsense as well.

Protest against BBC Scotland - Saturday 5th November
BrahimHemdani replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
The issue according to Hearts is that they blame referee Brines for disallowing a goal in their cup exit v Ayr and Paulo Sergio was unhappy that Brines was subsequently appointed as fourth official at their game last week v Dunfermline. He let this be known at their press conference on Thursday and someone (a journalist perhaps?) reported it to the SFA and now Sergio is the subject of a complaint by the SFA's compliance officer over criticism of the referee. According to the BBC "The Edinburgh club say the manager, coaches and players will refuse to take part in pre- and post-match interviews until his hearing on 3 November." -
