A well reasoned and balance view IMHO. For what it's worth I counted his first dozen or so passes yesterday, 5 of the first 6 were forward, one of which was intercepted but 5 of his next 6 were backwards one of which went astray. He simply does not make telling passes and we saw again yesterday that he has no composure whatsoever in shooting situations, so how Pete can say he changed the game is beyond me. Right now it's costing us £6,500 a week to develop a player for Arsenal to loan or sell to some other team for next season and at the same time he is preventing us from developing our own talented CMF player Jordan Thompson. This makes no sense to me at all.

As a former referee I agree with those who are effectively saying that football is a fast moving game of controversy where the decision of the referee as to matters of fact is final. I am in favour of goaline technology because that would allow the referee to decide as a matter of fact whether or not a ball had crossed the goaline; but I am not in favour of it for red cards, in/out penalty decisions, etc because almost invariably these are a matter of opinion not fact. If in the opinion of the referee........... I accept that there are exceptions, as we have seen recently, but I don't think that is sufficient to change the entire nature of the game. If you had a video referee for offside decisions we would indeed be there all night.

It is easy to forget that in 2010 McColl was going to underwrite the RST Rangers Share Capital Acquisition Partnership Proposal to the tune of £30 million provided only that his anonymity was maintained; so it is not unduly surprising that fans looked to him in time of crisis two years later. That said it was never going to be the case that he would invest a significant amount of his own money in Rangers, so the expectation was always doomed to failure.

Can I ask that everyone has at least one question prepared for Colin and/or Willie and I would suggest that so far as possible we stick to the footballing aspects. I understand that Willie in particular is quite shy in public and may not be comfortable with questions about the more colourful aspects of his career. If we treat these guests with the respect that their legendary status demands, it will make it easier to get high calibre guests in future.

Transfer Deadline Day: Michael O'Halloran signs until 2020

Good luck to the lad, best thing for him, he simply failed to progress from a good start when a certain poster was comparing him to the legendary Alex Scott -

Excellent analysis but if King is so good why are Hearts letting him go on loan? Is it a kind of Machiavellian plot to help us get promoted? -

Didn't Forrester replace Oduwa? Seems to me we had a list and when we couldn't get O'Halloran (rightly not over paying) we have gone down our list of winger/strikers and landed on Billy King. Picking up loan players that can't get a regular game else where isn't going to get the job done IMO. -
I don't drink Lambrusco, cheap or otherwise

If Zelalem (2 assists, both against Dumbarton since September and no goals) is the 30th best Under-20 player in the world then I'm glad we aren't suffering any of the rest. I'd be interested to know the methodology, but whoever, made up the list must have been on too much cheap Lambrusco.

No but I'll tell you at the Dinner.

Carlisle thank Rangers in their hour of need
BrahimHemdani replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I did start a thread at the time suggesting that as football supporters we could possibly help out but it didn't get any response. http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?74440-Brunton-Park-Carlisle-Under-Water&highlight= I still don't think it's too late but obviously at the time folks had other priorities. Maybe a wee trip to Carlisle for a game would be a way to show support? Gersnet Dinner first methinks. -
Broadly speaking things are going very well but let's get promotion first, then see how he handles the much tougher challenges in the SPFL and whether he can develop the Plan B that undoubtedly will be required at a higher level.

A couple of points of clarification: As has been said, there is no dress code and no ban on football colours but I'd ask everyone to be sensible about this and not sit at a table with your Rangers scarf dipping into your curry. If there is such a thing as smart casual in a football dress sense that's what I'd prefer, perhaps a small notch up from whatever you normally wear to the game but as Frankie says it's forecast to be very cold so bear that in mind. We have operated all the previous dinners on a single drinks kitty basis i.e. the restaurant will run one drinks tab for all drinks. Gersnet is an equal opportunites web forum and this policy aids equality. It also means that everyone shares the costs of the guests drinks. In order to be fair we have only taken a nominal amount from the non drinkers and then divided the balance amongst the others. The only exception I would suggest is that if you have a predilection for drinking single malts with your curry or plan on buying a round of schnaps for your mates at the end this might be best paid separately.
-
I obviously can't stop you but personally I would prefer you not to ask this question. It may well be fine and it happened a long time ago and they appear to be best of mates but then again it may be a sore point and I see no value in embarrassing our guests. If I can suggest, I'll try to establish if it's a question they would be comfortable answering and if so I'll call on you to ask it; but if not I'll get word to you round the tables.

Humble apologies, Ian; but as you may or may not have noticed I've been over in Spain for the past 10 days on an all expenses trip paid by Rangers scouting the A and B teams for potential loan players. On arrival back to EDI yesterday afternoon I found my car immobilised in the Low Cost Car Park due to a broken coil spring; had to leave it in the hands of the AA and KWIK FIT at Broxburn; get the son-in-law to (who fortunately for us, unfortunately for him) works in Bathgate to collect us and deliver to Glasgow; then had to go back this afternoon to pick up the car, not helped by an Uphall Taxi Company who don't know on which side of the line the trains from Glasgow arrive. So apologies again, I'm working on it now mate.

The proposal that RF members voted on envisaged the RST mandating or transferring its shareholding to RF which was to become the shareholding entity going forward and the monies raised by RST were to be applied for other purposes. I don't see that the Board of RF could determine that part of what is currently a monthly donation could be applied for other purposes let alone delegate that decision to the Interim Board of another body.
-
Not all members will be shareholders nor will the entire organisation necessarilly be share owning.
-
No, the Club should put the fans FIRST. And I thought I it was rather neat combination of RF & RST if I may say so.
