So if there is a thread for every Boyd goal next season we should have maybe 20 threads if he plays. But there will be a thread for every fluff and fresh air shot he has which means about 341 threads. IF he goes to Cardiff I expect him to fizzle out in the same way as J and J expect Buffel to fizzle out. I personally expect to see Buffel wearing a Belgium shirt again soon.

As good a player as Carlos is, he isnt going to create much in the final 3rd. You obviously didnt watch him, or maybe your expecting Rooney. The reason he was anonymous was due to not playing due to the club not wanting to stump up 400k for him. I cant believe the reaction of joy to probably our best "footballer" leaving the club. He easily had the best ability at the club. Yet people are happy to see plums who cant even TRAP a ball like Adam, Burke and Boyd stay at the team. You could even count on one hand how many good games Captain Ferguson has had in the last season yet others dont get a chance. With that type of mentality around Ibrox Celtic will go onto get 4IAR. I havent disagreed with you for quite a while Cammy but I do on this one. Its the start of a new season and we want to cement our best starting XI from the start. Alexander filled in pretty well but didnt do anything extra ordinary to shift McGregor. I can see your point if McGregor had gone through a bad run of form then yes he should be on the bench but he was absolutely superb until his unlucky injury. (That save away at Bremen?). I still think if he didnt get injured we may be champions as I dont think we would have lost the first OF game at Parkhead - he was having another blinder there.

If we arent strong enough to get past either of these 2 then we dont deserve to be in the CL. It will obviously be Kanuas as Santa Coloma are probably worse than Cowdenbeath. They will be awkward away but we should still beat the at Ibrox. The next qualifying round wont be easy, i looked at the list of teams and there wont be any easy ties. So a 4-5-1 approach just to get us into the group stages would do me.

Fully agree with that Andrew, good post. I dont need to say my view on Buffel, he is a player I thought should be playing every week. But the main point is we need to be signing players who enhance the starting line up. I actually think Miller and Velicka could do that. Cousin is still the best striker on our books but due to his attitude he wont show it and the sooner we get 3 million for him the better. If we could get a combined 6 million for Boyd and Cousin then invest that in some other areas things would look good. It would still leave us with enough upfront.

Agreed, plus McGregor didnt get dropped due to off form, it was down to an injury.

The things is if WS and Ally think he is the best finisher in the country then they would have played him more last season. Either they are still holding off for a higher bid or are backtracking and see him as a player they need. But if the latter why sign 3 new strikers. Something still isnt right on this one.

Out of interest Calscot whats you reasons for saying they are evil? I only get Sky news via satelitte over here and I get annoyed with the lies and manipulation they continually come out with, but ive always thought the sports channels are superb coverage.

This is a good start and I have said they should do that for years, and if they wanted to keep screens they can make a wee adjustment to the other corners. Maybe lowering the pitch is still an option to get another few thousand in and that will be us up to 60,000 done pretty cheaply. Once problem for me is the pitch, it doesnt see enough light from Octo onwards and gets cut up really badly.

I think once pre season is under way and now the Euro's are over, clubs will become much more active and we may see 1 or 2 players moving out soon paving way for a few more signings.

Yeah Spain were the best team there overall. The Dutch were great in the group stages but disappeared in the quarter finals when it counted. Turkey should get a mention aswell, they possibly deserved to be in the final ahead of Germany. But finally Spain answer there underachievers tag - Which leaves England as the only underachievers in world football now

Novo got 25 goals in his first year under McLeish. I agree abour Darcheville, One 90 min game is a joke but its down to the size of that leg muscles. Cousin's attitude stinks but he is still a quality player. Velicka will possible be his replacement and give us more on a weekly basis IMO. Miller is a player I quite like and im looking forward to seeing him play again.

Criticised is a better word than slagged as we are judging his game then. But I just dont see Boyd improving but that doesnt mean to say he wont. He did show a better attitude at times last season by losing weight and trying to get involved in a deeper role but it lasted 3 games - thats not good enough from a professional. (I actually love these Boyd debates coz they can go on and on plus its better than discussing nothing) Pete, you need to keep up mate, you have been online as long as me and Jon this morning but arent keeping up with posts - that old typewriter surely needs replaced now eh....!!!

Id take a 2-0, 3-0 with playing great football every week which isnt bucketloads. Until Ive seen Miller in a Gers shirt again, Velicka and Lafferty then I'll reserve judgement on who is on our books to score that amount of chances. But id also say Novo is capable of 20+ goals (he did it before), Darcheville would get 15+ if he could play 90 mins every week and if Cousin had a good attitude and desire then he would get 20 goals.

FFS R.E Boyd Yes we should be playing more attacking football (but keeping things tight at the back) but Im afraid your pal just doesnt give us that attacking football. For attacking football we need: 1) pacey runners down the flanks or through the middle 2) strong strikers to hold it up and allow runners from the midfield 3) players who are capable of a neat first touch and a one/two with others who can create something Attakcing football doesnt just mean scoring goals, we have to create first and once again your hero doesnt give us that

Im not near the only one who wants to see Buffel, there arent a huge amount on this boards who want to see him but there are a few, im just vocal about him. And I havent been slagging Boyd off, Im just being honest about what I see in a player. Ive never slagged Boyd off personally. The same can be said to you and others about Buffel but I dont acuse anyone of slagging.
