Agree. And Rossiter has a lot of making up to do. He has been out for a year so needs a lot of game time. He has youth on his side but shouldnt just walk into the team.
-
Points taken bud hence my additional comment. Advocaat had a 4-4-2 with 4 real midfielders often and it worked well. Yes he played McCann, Kanchelskis etc on occasions wide but he also played a 4 with Reyna, Tugay, Ferguson, Albertz / Gio. Not comparing the standard but more so the system. We should be over powering teams especially at home.
-
^ I know some will say Dorrans isnt a left winger. But Albertz or Van Bronkhurst werent wingers either but both slotted into that real midfielder role in a 4. As for the 3-5-2 some will say we dont have wing backs. But being Rangers playing Dundee at home we shouldnt have the need for 5 defenders in the team.

Back to this thread also after 2 games have played and signings done. For me - Obviously Foderingham in goal but I ask questions about Tav and Wallace. Can we go to a back 3?? Even if its a 4 then Beerman showed he could possibly overhaul Wallace who is struggling IMO. 3-5-2: Foderingham Wilson Alves Cardoso Jack Kranjcar Candeias Pena Dorrans Miller Herrera 4-5-1: Foderingham Tavernier Alves Cardoso Beerman Jack Candeias Pena Kranjcar Dorrans Herrera Id like to see Holt and Waghorn dropped - previously fans of both of them but we have to get away from the MW side. And Wallace needs dropped also and fight back for his place. Young Beerman looked more than capable.

Going back to this thread I wonder if the thoughts have changed. ?? PC is certainly on a last thread. 5-1 to Celtic was painful yet whats worse about that is he didnt pick up on things from the cup match the week prior - that has been massively overlooked and proved stubbornness. Until you have Success like Wenger you can act Stubborn. Losing to Aberdeen at home for the first time in 26 years. This was a record I know a lot of Bears liked to keep but it may have been an end of season game but it obviously meant nothing to PC. Worst result in history - I wasnt born when Berwick happened. We had some bad results in Europe under Walter but this is monumental. Luxembourg are beating boys where we should beat teams from there with the reserves. It wasnt a one of, we had 2 games to beat them. The pendulum has swung IMO, PC has to act, his arrogance (some of which was fine) has to now go and he has to blend in a team that gets off the marks in the league fast. Nothing less than 3 wins from Motherwell, Hearts and Hibs will do. 7 Points might be OK depending on the draw but we should be looking to win all home games and if he doesnt win at Fir Park questions will be asked.

Its a reflection on the league. Its not good enough. IMO China has went about it all wrong. They should have been buying Championship players to get to that standard first then improving as they go on. China is a wonderful place and for players being looked after its a no brainer. The Asian version of CL is good to view but the Koreans, Japanese and Aussies are ahead of China, that should have been their aim - to start winning that first before signing retirement players.

Graham Tut Spiers seems to be attempting a comeback and using anti Rangers propaganda to make him popular.
-
Sometimes gets frustrating when a players name pops up who was a generation or two before who you didnt actually see and could comment about. I guess thats acceptable though. In 20 years time there might be a programme about Brian Laudrup and the youngsters just wont appreciate what I got to see.

Agreed. Although it was only a brief appreance - the way he played at Pittodrie was Mark Walters esk. The first XI is going to be a tough one to work out once everyone is fit and available. A good old 4-4-2 isnt out of the question. Im looking forward to seeing Pena. If he lives up to it then what system gets Pena, Dorrans and Kranjcar in the same team.

No quality, no bottle, no Progrès - Should the manager be sacked?

Was going to say - dont hold back there! But you paid your 400 plus quid and are very entitled to that. Good post. -

I think Big Eck is great at gathering the troops and has always had a early impact. Would be interesting to see him working with the likes of Neil McCann. -
It will be interesting to see if Rooney can cut it at Everton. Like Stu just said his performances at Man Utd have shown he is almost finished. He doesnt seem to look after himself body conditioning wise - yes he is well built but he just looks too heavy. The move to Everton may be so he can try get to the World cup next summer but he will need to have a consistently good season. He very may well surprise us all.

Did Alex McLeish offically apply. A treble in 2003 certainly is more qualified.

I back Arsenal every year bar last season but I will be having a flutter on them again this season. I see Chelsea going backwards. Conte may not even be there. Yet linked with 80 defenders and havent signed one. Man Utd - Mourinho usually wins titles in his second season but He isnt the same manager anymore. I dont see a Giggs, Scholes or keane in that UTD squad. City - Peps arrogance will let him down again. Too many forward players and still a shabby defence. Spurs - Wembley! Liverpool - If they get a keeper and a top defender then Id watch out for them. Klopp is awesome but they are Liverpool and arent allowed to win the PL. Arsenal - Wengers swagger was back at the FA cup final - if we see this next season with Lehmann kicking asses in the dressing room then stupid losses like Watford at home wont happen and they will be stronger on the road. Wenger signed a deal when fans wanted him out - he has to deliver.

Not sure what you mean. However - to take Craig using Sir Alex as a knee jerk opinion on another thread - I just read the premier league starts on a Friday for the first time this season, I thought thats not right because I recall watching the first game of the season years ago on a Friday night - however that turned out to be the second game of the season Chelsea 2-2 Man Utd. So the point is Sir Alex fielded a 4-5-1 that night. Carroll P Neville Blanc Shea Silvestre Beckham Keane Butt Giggs Scholes Van Nistelrooy Ok we dont have that level of quality. But does someone want to explain to me whats wrong with this system and why we have to fumble about? Put players in natural positions - end of. -
For me that just describes the poor pathetic British media today all over and on EVERY topic (too many turn off when its non rangers / football related). It comes from higher up and the reporters are just spewers.

Dalglish would be anonymous in the current Scotland team..... Lost form due to joining a disjointed West Ham team. Frankie - Dont care who he supports. Pretty sure Herrera, Pena, Alves and Dalcio dont support Rangers either. He obviously has good things to say about Dorrans and wouldnt comment if he didnt genuinely wish him well.
-
^ Snodgrass on loan would be a clever move by PC. He is available. West Ham are ready to part already. He fitted there at the worst possibly time trying to blend into a new team and system.

Current situation makes you think what happens with Dodoo. Utter bizarre Rangers career thus far. Two worldly strikes to win a match at Partick Thistle. Comes on at Pittodrie and changes a game to scoop a 3-0 win. Yet done very little since. Never fancied by MW or PC as a starter. I still dont know if he is a striker or a inside left / winger (aka like a Welbeck). No mentions of him if he is staying or part of the plans (not training with the U20s or starting games)

Kilmarnock to complete deal for Kirk Broadfoot
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Without checking I think you may be referring about his Coventry spell where he got POTY?? I will check. ..... -
"Trouble is he doesnt have any matches" - Is this a Ferguson quote or did the Record add this in? You could argue if its Fergusons article without the above quote then we have a debate and he could have a point - yes he gets a month in the season to see how he performs. If its a Ferguson quote then its a dig at saying you are out of Europe.
-
Boyd and Ferguson are getting a lot of media time (Sky and Record respectively). Pity they need a keyboard and an editor to get their messages across.

I think that was the thread I was mentioning. Lewis MacLeod is another yet injuries have hampered him. I just googled John Fleck to see where he was, didnt realise he was with Sheff Utd just got promoted to the championship. 10 apps last season in league one. -

Another former player who hasnt succeeded down south - relegation with Rotherham. The other day I mentioned Ness, Wylde and others who disappear when going to England. Then they return north to Kilmarnocks and Motherwells etc. -
But could get 100m from Chelsea. Not sure where this twist has come from. Mourinho supposedly wanted Lukaku as his no.1 target but switched to Morata. But now the Morata deal hasnt went through they make the Lukaku offer official. Pretty sure Everton will want more than 75m. The Rooney deal could be part of it, Man Utd may be willing to pay part of Rooneys wages for the season if the Lukaku fee is lower or the full wage. Man Utd were going to pay up Rooney's contract but could offer him on loan to Everton for the season at no cost.
