I see people time and again going after Dessers, or before that Colak etc.. For they are no (half-season) Negri or (at his prime) Morelos. But our centre-forward isn't the problem, and never has been since our return. Dessers, this season, stands at 29 games (subs incl.), 12 goals and 4 assists. Last season: 54 games, 22 goals, 9 assists. While we swoon over Igamane's run (20 games, 8 goals, 2 assists), Desser's form is that of your normal Rangers striker. NIAR 1 Top-scorers (62-26 goals, 56 points) Drinkell 12 McCoist 9 Walters 8 NIAR 6 (74-41, 59) Hateley 22 Durie 12 McCoist 7 NIAR 8 (85-25, 87) Durie 17 McCoist 16 Gascoigne 14 What we see is, time and again, that the workload of two strikers is being shifted on the head of one, against even more tight defences than back in the day of NIAR. And we simply do not have the people who carry the workload of ... the second striker plus the two wingers. Worse still, since we deploy two 6s, we have even less goal-scoring potential on the park. It was obvious during Warburton, it was obvious ever since, and no new player quality (in our sphere of economical interest) will be able to change the status quo in Scotland. See Sima or Silva. I fear that PC will chuck the 2-striker variant today again, i.e. not Igamane AND Danilo, but Cerny and Bajrami, plus a light-weight midfield too busy to play the ball around. You just hope that no matter what, Kelly (whom I hold in high regard) will not play to his fellow defenders but always up the park, no matter where, essentially. I might be tempted to play King too, to stand robustly on their attackers toes before they enter the danger zone.

TM says Euro 2.36m, so 2m sounds about right. A nice game against ManU at the end of the month and we can sell him for 20m. -

Not sure about similar cases, but this is just plain madness. Yes, clubs might be due a development fee, but here it is just another sad attempt of squeezing money out of us. Nearly 700k is just a full transfer fee anywhere else at this level. Do that in turn to them with our youngsters, and they go ballistic. That said, we have a knack of simply freeing our players before they sign for anyone else ... -

Rangers are looking to sell before they can add to the first-team squad in the new year, with striker Cyriel Dessers, left-back Ridvan Yilmaz, winger Rabi Matondo and midfielder Tom Lawrence facing potential exits in the January window. (TeamTalk) Former Rangers defender Russell Martin, who was recently sacked as Southampton manager, is the current bookmakers' favourite to succeed Philippe Clement should the under-pressure Belgian exit Ibrox. (The Scotsman) Former Manchester United communications chief Greg Mailer will be appointed Rangers' new chief communications director in April. (Four Lads Had A Dream podcast) ... see @RANGERRAB they also use obscure sources 😜 Re the above "links", as a German saying goes ... Whoever has the damage does not need to worry about the ridicule. -

Rightio ... the list of targets mentioned is still rather short. Today, some whispers about Josh Brownhill, a 29-year old DM (yes!!!) who is in his last 6 months at Burnley. Trabzonspor apparently want Ridvan, then there is Darius Olariu, the attacking mdifielder for 4m, and that South African Iqraam Rayners. There is more hope than gut feeling that we might sign people well under the radar of press and ITK social media hacks, though. -

IMHO, Diomande is some sort of upgrade of Glen Kamara. An equally good footballer who loves to play the game. But love for the game and good technique is not required, if you don't put it into countable figures. What PC sees in him in games like the last one and today's is utterly beyond me. -

45+10 mins that might give you hope, but we have had so many false dawns in recent history. Coming to think of it, it weren't that many. Too little to live, too much to die ... -

Easy, the lad had his hand on Butland's shoulder. Alas, Maclean on the screen had his bright moment, as opposed to Clancy. -

That's how you do it: replace a striker who was let down by his fellows with another striker (rather than a fellow), and a AM shoe-horned into right wing with a right-winger. While the left-winger is firing blanks ... -

Wee sidenote ... nice (random) schedule: Away St. Mirren (last season: Home St. Johnstone 2-0) Away Motherwell (Away Motherwell 2-0) Home Scum (Away Scum 1-2) Away Hibs (Home Killie 3-1 ... any bets which will be his last game. The question remains whether the players are actually with the manager any more. Which, in turn, means: which of these players is mentally Rangers standard. -

... well, we have had those years after our return, and some of the performances there need some beating. Still, we play far too open for a team like Motherwell and thus get caught out far too easily. This can be addressed rather quickly, but we don't do so. Cortes is clearly not fit, Diomande in the ball-dancer role ... mind you, even Kamara would be better for today. Putting on 7 "new" faces away to Motherwell was asking for trouble, refereeing and ill-luck aside. We can lament about our centre-halfs as much as we like, the only "option" today is King. I'd put him in as a solid DM, remove Diomande, and Cortes for Cerny. Put Raskin and Dowell ahead of King. -

You see Cortes and ask yourself, why PC did not field him in the 2nd half in midweek. He's clearly not at the races ... and no help whatsoever.
