IMHO Jack was the only one of our midfield who held his form, with Davis not too far off either. McGregor and Morelos indeed a close 2nd ... Barisic was doing a decent enough shift as a defender and attacker, bar that slip when Devlin went through and close. -

Well, it was the "beauty of the cup", even if ugly. Up and down the park, football hard to be found, yet we battled through. I reckon many of us forgot all those similar games of the past and will not really remember this one for long ... well, Aribo will. Regarding Ojo ... he looks at time like Kent during his start and I still have that suspicion that if fit, we have to play him. Liverpool has that nasty loan-requirement that their players "cost" little, but you may have to pay penalties if they do not play (when fit) in a certain percentage of your games. As much as I enjoyed Kent's rise to fame after his at times dodgy start to the season, I also want to see the likes of Stewart and Murphy back on the park. How quickly can those "superstars" like Kent, Ojo or Barker fall to injury and we rather quickly end up with chaps who hardly get a dozen minutes per month. And with our luck, the games might be rather important then. Should those thrown in at the deep end then set a foot wrong, we will not hear the end of it ... Yesterday was tailor-made for Stewart, Polster, King, Edmundson et al, yet we threw on our "stalwarts" and they were again, hardly impressive. At the end of the day, results is what matters for the club and we got that. Hearts and whoever may be in the final will not play Livingston-style, who reminded me of Wimbledon of old. -

Ojo dilly dallied (again), Tav no-where near his best, the midfield a waste bar Jack. I can`t see any reason why Stewart, King, Polster or Docherty don't deserve a chance. -

Someone should tell Ojo that this is not the u23-EPL-have-fun-league, where you can have your lacadaiscial moments every now and then. Twice he had the chance to put the game to bed and dilly-dallied them. -

Only Jack performs to his standards in MF thus far. But we don't need to beat them physically. Just play decent football and let them run. BTW, not sure why we played Ojo on the left for long spells, and Arfield on the right. When their preferred positions is vice versa. These three up front seemingly don't really click, mainly because Ojo is all over the place and if he has the ball, tries something fancy. -

From the 30th min onwards we tried to beat Livingston at their game and failed badly. On another day with another ref, we might have had Kamara, Goldson and Helander sent off by now. -

I wouldn`t be surprised to see some fellows who don`t get as many minutes in recent weeks take starting slots, even though one never knows with SG. Possible line-up could be ... Foderingham Polster - Edmundson - Katic - Halliday Kamara - Docherty Stewart - Aribo - Murphy Defoe ... but I guess SG will keep a few of his stalwarts. -
Re Tav .... ... imagine we throw in Polster and he would have slept like Tav did when O'Halloran sneaked in only to be denied by McGregor. We would hear the end of him getting slaughtered for being useless. As with Flanagan (in Europe) before (despite Barisic coming in with some good performances), there should be no favouritism with any player. Sadly enough, Tav can hardly set a foot wrong, whips in one or two good crosses and all his defensive shortfalls are forgotten. As SG said with regard to our central defenders, one has to use the squad wisely and players appropriate to the occasion. I for one doubt that Polster wasn't up to quite a few of our games this season ...

Well, I watched the game with some lovely Slawic commentary (Bulgarian, I'd say) and they were adamant that it wasn't a goal and showed the same scene that you can find below, albeit with Walker's commentary. It is NOT "very difficult to see" that the ball does NOT appear fully behind the goalpost. A slow-mo that DR reporters will have seen too. https://streamable.com/a36xl Regarding the and-ball, from what I saw in slow-motions it was not really in the area, but to give no free-kick or penalty was probably the one decision Dallas got wrong all day. Aribo will probably differ, as he was fouled quite a bit and went off the boil, but came back strongly later on.
-
Job done, took its time, as usual, but once these teams open up we get chances. Could have been more with Aribo heading unto the bar and Arfield through the masses and being denied by the goalie. But Goldson's header essentially secured the game, Defoe's couple was the icing on the cake. Good for morale and goal difference. A bit strange for Dallas and the linesman to spot the ball not being over the line ... when they missed Davidson clear handball ... no matter inside or outside the area.
-
St. Joe in lovely defensive mode, their average possession of the ball in our half must be 5 to 15 seconds each. Tav handed them their great chances and McGregor saved his blushes vs O'Halloran. Morelos doubled, Aribo there and everywhere but not really involved, Ojo and Barker in flashes. Jack usually doubles up as auxilliary right-back and Davis has not too many options to play too. Tav took a knock late on, wonder who might replace him. Edmundson to go 3 at the back? Hm ...
-
McGregor Tavernier - Goldson - Helander - Bariŝić Jack - Davis Ojo - Aribo - Barker Morelos Subs: Foderingham, Edmundson, Halliday, Kamara, Stewart, Arfield, Defoe Dunno why we did not change Defoe and Morelos and Ojo and Stewart. Both will probably score now that I`ve said it, but handing valuable game time to those brought in for these Scottish meat-grinders is somewhat beyond me. Docherty doesn`t even make the squad.

Eros Grezda could have played his last game for Rangers
der Berliner replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Asked this on the various threads over on FF without reply: anyone actually seen anything? Wasn`t the game somewhere on TV that night? It is a somewhat strange that if a player doesn`t click, the hatchets are out in no-time. And that`s without any regard to sait incident. Grezda came here being just back from injury, no pre-season and then suffering the same fate as Stewart does now, i.e. having first Murphy and then Kent in front of him - with both respective Liverpool guys seemingly getting some favouritism from the gaffer. Kent was at the beginning hardly the star we have signed now, yet was played time and again. Ojo drifts in and out of games for quite long spells, but ... (No comparisons drawn between these 4 players, as those are utterly subjective.) Whether he was able to settle to life in Scotland I don´t know, what went on at that game I don`t know either. Folk from those countries don`t take it well if you goad them with fancy stuff, so perhaps he cracked there and then (and we might be lucky that he did not have his knife at the ready ... well yes, that was a joke). So while I sure do not condone his alledged actions nor see him play for Rangers again, it would be good to know what actually happened and how it came about. I remember one rather famous lad head-butting an opponent in the WC final (or the like) a few years back after some heinous insults ... so who knows. -

When people come up with screamers like Ojo, it is hard to criticise him. Yesterday, as before, he drifted in and out of the game, similar to Kent`s start last season. It is something you hardly notice with folk like Davis or Jones, who are essentially all-action as long as they are on the pitch. Aribo`s introduction, albeit late, showed his qualities, a bit similar to Morelos, as he likes to tackle players with body and ability. Over all, SG manages his squad quite well though ... yet, I for one would like to see more of Stewart and Polster every now and then. -
Andy Mitten: I went to Ibrox to write about Rangers
der Berliner replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Well, once you British Bears and readers can decide upon one tense for Rangers, I`ll take that on. BTW, the line in question: As said above, I know the company liquidation affair stuff and wording, we gone through that time and again. It is, in either case factually wrong, as the company is still there - even though liquidation might be a given. Yet, it is poor ammunition for the hate-brigade and could easily have been avoided. "Went into administration" springs to mind. Likewise, IMHO, Dave King did not "lose" his 20m. The average Bear spent his weekly earnings on season tickets or at the turnstiles, to pay for players, staff and glory in that season. King had more money, saw a business opportunity to invest into his club to help it onto more glory and that was delivered on the park. And that success and glory is the payback for the season ticket holder`s investment as much as King`s. Obviously, the capitalist will disagree, -

Given the chances we had in the first half, it was nervy at the end. Who would have thought that we would play that well against one of the top teams in Dutchland ... even though they only showed real class in patches. But that does not matter. Three points in an emotional night for us and Fernando, -

My, my ... hope all these glorious chances that we missed don`t bite us later on. This game clearly shows what sort of quality players we have, if they not have to run down Scottish duns and brochs and walls ... -
