  1. ... maybe Fjortoft actually IS an octopus and the ref didn't want to get into any bother re racism and all?
  2. Not much problem with Goldson, but Ojo seems an auto-pick ... but obviously, the right-wing options seem limited when Stewart is already playing and Aribo seemingly not 100 % fit.
  3. Realistically, if he keeps on scoring and performing for Colombia too, teams will become aware and there will be teams who can match our asking fees. Whether he wants to go / there is up to him. For us, it remains a win-win situation. As long as he scores goals and brings us nearer to a/the title and possibly a CL group slot, we are fine. If someone happens by with 20+m, fine. Obviously, he would be hard to replace, but it is a guessing game whether we can. The propability that some hammer-thrower breaks his leg in a week or 3 months is equally unpredictable. For now, I am content that we have him and will be happy as long as it lasts. The rest is out of my/our hand/s anyways.
  4. Livingston caused us all sorts of trouble ... as I said back then, they play somewhat like the Wimbledon of old. Methinks before the last international break, we lost to the Scum and were behind by a few points. Next international break happens by and we could actually sneak into pole position if we put the Accies to the sword today. Good to see Stewart and Defoe start, as well as Polster and Murphy on the bench.
  5. For the first goal, Tav IIRC was in possession of the ball and should simply have kicked it into touch or the like. It is these little simple things that make Flanagan a "better" defender and so valuable in Europe. People use to say that if things ain't broke, you should not change them. But at times you may trial something different to see if it works better in certain circumstances. Tav sitting out this or that game won't stop the world from spinning ...
  6. Ahem ... no. Correct with the offside, but he was far more direct than Ojo, who ran all over the park and did exactly what you described for Stewart, but for 90 mins ... But all about opinions.
  7. IMHO, and I reckon not many will echo that, our main target in Europe was achieved by reaching the Group stage and the set amount of financial gains that comes with it. Any point is a bonus, every win or draw will add to our stature - no doubt. Why that point of view? Because UEFA has messed up the European competitions and any level and decent competition goes out of the window, as all is geared for money ... and primarily money for the "big" nations like Germany, France, England, Spain and Italy, where mid-table teams enter the EL at later stages and 1-3 or 4 enter the "Champions" League at later stages too, while the "also-rans" have to qualify for the money-spinning stuff somewhere in midseason. As probably any other Bear. I live by the motto Sir Walter gave a decade or so ago: "Rangers have never gone into any game with any other objective than winning it." Yet, the reality in the here and now is that Europe is a fine bonus, but national silverware is more important. From that perspective, we did not only lose the game, but also Ryan Jack, who has been in the running for every MotM for months. Hopefully it ain't that bad. As for the game, my biggest point of bother - as with quite a few games before - is the unwillingness to change things (WHAT a surprise was Stewart's inclusion last Sunday and what an impact he had!). MW still gets it into the neck with his Plan A sentence, yet time and again we go the very same route (and did so last season, BTW) and oftentimes FAIL to do Plan A better. Two names pop up here and essentially all about them has been said: Ojo and Tavernier. And here, right now, one has to say the bucket stops with SG.
  8. Helander is no "bomb scare", nor is Goldson, Katic or Edmundson. And he sure is no scapegoat for the late goal. We defended decently enough ... and these hit and hope stuff over the top have been a danger to any defenders out there ... ever since I saw football. Always looks bad when one or two escape you in a game ... no matter whether you cleared 12 before that.
  9. Wasted chance. Honestly, the game was woeful. No cohesion on either side, far too often just hit and hope ... usually for an error. Not as diabolical a pitch as they have in Scotland, but woeful still. Why did Ojo stay on at HT? He produced nothing. Again. Not sure how this can be talked good now. In these games, people have to deliver. Stewart instantly brought directness ... oh what a game this would have been for Jones! King and Defoe might also have been options. Then Tav again with a decisive error ... he's old and experienced enough to have learned that by now. How many times must this be said? That goal at the end was just the result of sheer luck, which Morelos's escaped a few minutes earlier. Fastnacht just hammered it ... and it could have gone anywhere like so many crosses and shots tonight. It didn't ... and this time the ref did't stop the game halfway into an attack. People may blame this or that guy for the defeat, IMHO, we again did not react to what was on show, didn't bring on the right or enough players early and now stand there empty handed.
  10. Pretty low quality fare thus far ... perhaps due to the pitch. Would hope we give Stewart a run instead of Ojo soon, as the latter looks in the EPL-u23-mood again, trying special things when simple stuff is needed.
  11. Mark Dingwall of FF provided a good run-down of club and city: https://www.followfollow.com/young-boys-of-bern-a-club-and-a-city/
  12. Game lasted for 93 mins, the Swiss scored in 92 ... would have been a fine win over there. Methinks Eurosport covers some of the CL youth games LIVE ...
  13. How can a private smartphone - video stream from someone at the game be illegal? Not least if there is no official one, I would assume?

  15. The big problem is that Ashley and his cohorts don't want to mediate. Ashley by default, and SD because they are neck deep in shit elsewhere and want any cash they can get. In any case, it would be good if one gets a status quo in layman's terms ... AFAIK - the GreenCo chaps made a deal with SD that screwed Rangers better than the Spanish Inquisition could - after the takeover the new board mediated a better deal for Rangers with SD ... and (quashed the 7-year stuff? plus) agreed that any new deal done would first go to SD to match it - then the new board went into a deal with Hummel et al without putting it to SD first to which SD took offence and us to court - should we lose the court thing, we'd probably have to put the deal we did with Hummel et al in front of SD and if they match/better it, the Hummel deal would have to go ... probably leading to trouble with them If that is the case, it would be cool to know what made the new board think that they get away with it?
  16. Too bad if you only watch the SPFL highlights that show the incident from the wrong side. As opposed to the game, where you clearly saw the trip ... which caused the defender's reaction! Scroll down, 15 mins highlights from Russian Rangers ... incident around the 3 min mark http://rangersfc.org/index.php?dn=news&to=art&id=4032
  17. The lad sure has talent and IMHO, we should have snatched him up from Ayr (?) and loaned him out like Hastie. Granted, it is all just Championship level, but peopel have to start somewhere. As it stand, the Arabs will want hard cash now.
  18. Meanwhile, what the Sheep thought of yesterday ... Game report surprisingly objective ... https://www.afc.co.uk/report/dismal-afternoon-for-depleted-dons-at-ibrox/#match-report Head Sheep: https://www.afc.co.uk/video/derek-mcinnes-post-match-reaction-from-ibrox/ ... did Considine shat it? ? https://www.afc.co.uk/video/michael-devlin-player-reaction/
  19. What a game ... and Stewart alone had at least three more golden, nay platimun chances to score ... plus Arfield's and Ojo's. Hard to pick a man of the match, though I'd say Stewart and Davis were both just that very very little bit better than the rest.
  20. So either Stewart or Arfield in the shadow striker / AM role ... or a straight 4-4-2 ... hm. Anyway, some Sheep shearing required today!

  22. Referee - Bobby Madden Assistants - Graeme Stewart and Calum Spence Fourth Official - John McKendrick Oh cute, Mad Bobby in the middle. Has anyone heard a word from the CO regarding the assault on Aribo?
  23. While there were literally hundreds of opinions about the matter, very (as in: VERY) little has been verified by eye witnesses et al. I would assume we will only hear about it once he has left.
  24. Well ... ...
