  1. Can't say I entirely agree that it's a good idea. If there's no European football, the best players sold off and very little chance of challenging for the title, why should we be paying more? And if it's being something that's mentioned already, I'd be surprised if it's just a few quid of a difference. I understand that times are extremely tough, but season ticket sales have seemingly slumped over the last couple of years when the price has been frozen, I can see even more saying no thanks if there's a hike in price.
  2. Won't be holding my breath based on anything the Sun says, but it does appear to be extremely advanced. I'll sleep a bit easier thinking that we could have a new owner when I wake up.
  3. I'm sure D and P will be looking for double time for a Saturday shift...
  4. Well there's a shock. Let's hope it's simply down to the fact it doesn't hold up to the London consortium's bid.
  5. It seems that the amount needing cut is growing more and more by the day. I must say I would have been pretty shocked if the deal to play for free had been accepted. Although we know the players who would consider doing it, there are some who are just here for a job. Also, of course some are cynical about footballers, but some at the lower end of the scale like the younger boys, really are on a low wage and probably would struggle without a wage at all. Hoping for damage limitation today, but can't help but fear for quite a cull.
  6. I can't help but find it weird that just about all the papers have it at six players, but the Record has it at eleven. But hey ho, I'm sure they have their sources... Shall be an extremely sad day if we see players let go, which it looks now as if it almost definitely will happen. Shall be sitting waiting for any news, does anyone have a time for a conference, or is it still just rumoured? Can't help but feel quite selfish in wanting to keep Aluko. I know saving the club is the main priority right now, but I think he could be one of the biggest wasted talents if he was to be let go of. Not to mentiont that the guy paid to be here!
  7. As I said there is no way Ally can be without fault, there have been some big errors in judgement. As far as players playing out of position, it is difficult to judge when there is such a small amount of options available. As for "getting the ball down and passing", the amount of turgid passing sequences that have been slow-slow-stop have been unbelievable. The amount of ridiculously poor passing movements I've seen this season would leave me thinking we need to try something else. Ultimately I think no matter who the manager is, people are always going to want a good moan about them, it happened with Walter too. The man could never get anything right for some people. I believe Ally was doing a decent job until one too many handicap took over, and I really struggle to blame the guy, and that's why I'll reiterate that I personally believe the guy should be given a clean run at it if we come out of the situation in a decent position.
  8. I think people very easily forget the situation that Ally finds himself in here. Let's make no bones about it, this is THE worst Rangers squad I've ever seen, and it's difficult to even call it a squad anymore. Fair enough, the guy probably has made some mistakes, his cup performances have been inexcusable at times, the performances-even when winning- weren't great, but I'd like to know who the people who constantly slate Ally think could do better in his situation. The guy started with a fairly reasonable first team (no further than that) at the start of the season, and they ran with it in the league! The performances were brutal at times, but we've not been famed for playing great football for quite a while. The guy has been given the worst budget for any manager I've known at Rangers, and has had one best player injured for the season and the other sold. We all want Ally holding the reigns just now because he is a great Rangers man with the club at his heart, but I personally think he deserves a chance if we come out the other side looking a more stable set-up. It is very easy to criticise McCoist, because the performances have been terrible at times, but what other manager has had to work with such a poor budget and squad? I personally can't think of one.
  9. You can't ask players to completely forfeit their wages, we might think of them as all high rollers who roll about in their own money but it isn't the case for every footballer. I think though if you have Rangers in your heart, and I have no doubt that there are more than a small band in that squad that do, that a wage cut shouldn't be beyond them. If you've been brought up with Rangers, you know what the club is, and you know there is no player bigger than the club. I wouldn't doubt that if it was to help keep the team going, there are some players who would be happy to take that cut. I don't agree with wages being completely stripped though.
  10. Can't help but agree with this. McKay from Austrailia, Bocanegra and Bedoya from USA (fair enough, no issue with Boca). The farce with the boys from India coming on trial really made me think it. They were there to help set up a new Twitter feed and if Ally specifically wanted these players then I'd be amazed. As for McKay, I think he should have been given more of a chance, he really can't have been that bad that he only deserved to feature in one competitive game. It's not as if he's up against a squad of world-beaters, and I'd be extremely surprised if he was much worse. At the same time it's a smart decision to let him go instead of someone who has contributed to the squad. We can say "well what if..." all we want, but the fact is he's done nothing and therefore there will be no contribution to miss. Good luck to him in the future all the same!
  11. Can certainly imagine Bartley being sent back to Arsenal, but if that was the case with Lafferty he certainly wouldn't be the only one, as I can imagine there are at least a few clubs we still owe money too, Hearts being one for Wallace.
  12. It's quite hard to fully back a man simply because he's "the only show in town". Fair enough, plans from others haven't fully been revealed, but I believe in time they will. We only announced our intention to go into administration 2 days ago, and although Murray probably already had a plan from his attempt to oppose Whyte last year, it's still not something that can be complete in 48 hours. Nothing would be announced straight away but I'd like to hope it will be in time. If I read write if we're not out of administration by March 31, things get really serious, and I think we'll have a counter bid to Whyte put up well before then. I am finding it hard to trust Whyte, if I'm honest. It can be questioned how the media has went about dissecting the man, but the evidence is quite overwhelming against him. I may know next to nothing about business but something just doesn't sit right, and that's why I'm more than happy to hear a "Blue Knights" plan or something else along those lines. How would Whyte react to this, I wonder?
  13. The only hope for the rest of this season is fight shown, we have been humiliated off the pitch, we have to make sure it doesn't happen on the pitch. I'd like to believe we have a strong band of players who know exactly what the club is about, and have the club in their heart. They know what it is to be a Rangers fan and what we're all going through just now. For the rest of the players... let's give them something to care about on Saturday! An Old Firm win and a less than 10-point gap come the end of the season please.
  14. Certainly can't think of a feeling like it in my lifetime, of course it could never compare to the loss of lives. But the league losses, the embarrassing defeats, the clear-outs under Murray to try and come to terms with the debts, all the talk of the financial difficulties before Whyte took over all pale in comparison to the feeling of yesterday. Not sure if it ever truly felt real until then. A real knot in the stomach and a lump in the throat.
