has to be point of law as I understand. The lawyers rejected it (presumably from a legal perspective) Poon is , I believe, a tax accountant who would have us all believe everything & anything is taxable.

reduced TV income ? there might be no meaningful TV income . Even CBeebies wouldn't touch the SPL the way things are going
-
In any court of law you need a basis for an appeal. My understanding is that HMRC need a point of law for a basis of an appeal. What that is remains to be seen. You cannot simply appeal just because you don't like the verdict (well you can but it will be thrown out).

This £12m will only grow & grow. If CG sticks to his guns & refuses to sign the SKY TV deal for next season that will blow a massive hole in the finances of the wee diddy SPL clubs. Without Rangers there's little to interst SKY in Scottish football. Also have they replaced the CB sponsorship yet? These clubs are being led down the path to oblivion. Can't they see what's coming for them?

It is imperative that this game is boycotted. We must stand up & show these people we mean what we say. I do not think we have a squad capable of going all the way in the Scottish Cup and will not have until we can add to squad so that may be another reason to consider boycotting.

Come on Mr Traynor spill the beanz............ tell us everything about everyone. Should make interesting reading

is it just me or when did we last see Doncaster or Regan on television or being interviewed in a national newspaper? and is Vincent Lunny still there too? last season these three were never far from the limelight. Hope they're all OK.....................................not

Nothing wrong with puma IMO

That's about as near to acceptance as we'll get I think........

He was forced to sell. AJ confirmed this. But by whom & for what reason(s) ?
-
has the SPL run up a £1m legal bill with Harper McLeod as a result of its corrupt commission chasing us over these EBT's ? does anyone know? wouldn't have thought it would be able to afford that bill.
-
In all of this the question that needs answered is how Whyte managed to get the club in the first place. Don't believe SDM was duped. All roads leads to LBG & the two bhoys in charge of its Scottish business division at the time. Was SDM blackmailed into selling to Whyte ? If so by whom ? Whyte was an accident waiting to happen. His colourful business history was well known. It was in the Daily Telegraph on the day he got Rangers - long before Daly's documentary in Oct2011 about him where Regan claims he first learned about it
-
As I understand things, the SPL commision is to determine whether or not these EBT's were a second undeclared contract for players. Last week's FTTT verdict meant these EBT's were not considered contractual ( & not liable to taxation) therefore not considered as contracts. I would have thought that even someone as bitter as Tom English might even have understood that.

surely HMRC must be required to have a basis for an appeal. In any normal court of law an appeal requires new evidence or something which has been missed or overlooked. you cannot simply appeal because you don't like the verdict
-
I'll say it again & again. Over 5,000 UK companies used EBT's til they were abolished late 2010. There was nothing illegal about them if used properly. They were tax avoidance schemes and tax avoidance is legal (tax evasion isn't). Some people have great difficulty accepting this regards Rangers due to the mhedia frenzy instigated by the usual suspects.

Davie 'provo' Provan. Remind me what the 'provo' bit means again please someone?

Will HMRC have the brassneck to appeal? Surely they'd be better sorting out themselves inhouse for a start & investigating whichever of their employees was responsible for the leaks throughout the RTC. Maybe some of their employees have allegiances which make them want to disregard the confidentiality requirement of their jobs. I think I can guess those allegiances. Why would they appeal ? they're not going to get any money. They will have caused the eventual liquidation of our oldco chasing taxes they weren't entitled to as per last tuesday's verdict. They shouldn't have been main creditor whilst we were in administration trying to get a CVA. That should have been ticketus who'd approved the CVA.
-
I'd prefer to see Ally McCoist concentrating his efforts to get us more convincing performances & victories on the park. He seems to me to be tactically inept & totally clueless as to how to change a game when things aren't going well. Frankly I couldn't give a damm about his media skills if we're winning with conviction every week.

no problem m8. I have similar discussions with dhims but they're too stupid to understand normally
-
whether people like it or not EBT's were perfectly legal if done properly. Last tuesday's verdict seems to suggest ours was in general OK. Over 5,000 UK companies had EBT's before they were abolished late 2010(or should I say the tax loophole was closed). They were legal tax avoidance schemes to put it bluntly. Some companies agreed to pay HMRC sums to compensate for the tax they had avoided. Others chose not to. I believe we offered HMRC a sum ( you say £10m) which HMRC rejected. Now they've got nothing except a large legal bill ( ha! ha !) I actually enjoyed winning the taxcase last tuesday almost as much as beating the dhims..........there you go !!

'their club being forced into liquidation' Let me explain. The club wasn't liquidated. It's playing in SFL3 at present. When CG's Consortium had their CVA rejected ( wrongly now after last Tuesday by the looks of things as HMRC wouldn't have been main creditor) they created a newco & transferrred over the assets of the oldco i.e. club, stadium, murray park etc. What couldn't be transferred over was SFA membership & SFL share. The players contracts are still being disputed as per TUPE. Oldco is simply an empty corporate shell with £5.5 m in its account (not a lot is it ?)
-
I read a quote from an insolvency expert who said the BTC should have been valued at £1 by D&P in administration because its outcome wasn't known. Certainly not £75m or whatever. This would have meant, of course, that HMRC couldn't have blocked CVA as they weren't main creditor. That would have been ticketus who accepted CVA
-
the SFA & SPL know they could be getting a visit from BDO for monies due to oldco. I suspect they've not got that money. They're keeping quiet as they know the game's up for both of them
-
Don't think that'll happen. Either the SPL or SFL has to go. Smart money's on SPL. SFL have more clubs which could prove decisive
