  1. Again, absolutely no idea why we're playing full strength teams in these games. It's actually becoming really quite irritating. We have a track record for doing the same under different managers. Big clubs don't do this. They rotate their squads and rest key players in meaningless fixtures. Instead of having a team of players with nothing to play for, we could be integrating several youths into the team who would have everything to play for. We don't actually even have a single youngster on the bench today - what is going on?

I assume Warburton thinks if he plays his strongest team we will get a victory. Unfortunately our defence is a shambles and we aren't creating anything up front.

  2. Yes, against almighty and crumbling Dumbarton at home, while chasing Falkirk for second spot. BTW, it is always "funny" how the "excuse club" is taken out of the locker if opinions differ. WHO am I excusing? We played well below par and only McKay and Holt changed something tonight. Of course, people may want us to go full throttle at teams after the Scottish Cup semi final and throw on all quality folk out there in the cold in Livingston. But rest assured, you'd scream death, blood and thunder had any of our better folk got injured these last few games and would miss the final. IMHO, Tav and Wallace only played because we had no subs for them ...

So we've to expect another defeat to St Mirren because it's cold, our players don't want to get injured and we have nothing to play for? This is Rangers we play to win every game!

  3. I can see where your coming from.

Guess we will find out on the 17th. (Despite it being a cup game)

But I don't think so. Hearts have went straight up and into 3rd. Aberdeen are just bottle merchants. Celtic really should have lost there title this year if the sheep didn't have there annual meltdown

Hearts and Aberdeen don't have strong enough squads or good enough players to challenge Celtic for the title. As others have said we need better quality additions to our squad to mount a sustained challenge for the title.

  4. I was fortunate enough to live in Crosshill, just off Victoria Road, then Shawlands, so I could walk to Ibrox, Cathkin Park and Hampden. Have many fond memories of Hampden both for internationals and Rangers cup games. Still think it would be a pity for Hampden to be replaced, and I don't remember complaints about the Hampden pitch before the stadium was rebuilt.

  5. A lot of us on here are in that age group. I am fighting with my memory as I think I may remember George Niven playing in a game. I would have been 5 when he left but I am sure he was the first keeper I seen.

Rename this website "the old codger's" :D.

  6. He hasn't kicked a ball in the last four matches since his poor second half 15 mins v Kilmarnock; if he can't get a game tonight then surely we should be asking Arsenal to take him back early and save £6,500 per week.

I'm hoping Zelalem will come into his own once the fine Scottish Spring weather kicks in. At the moment he is not much good in the blood and snotters environment of Scottish Winter football :).

  7. Maybe Waghorn is not good enough to maintain the high standard he set when he first joined Rangers? A really good player may have the odd dip in form but generally maintains a high standard throughout a season. Unfortunately we are not in the market for players of such a high calibre at the moment. Nicky Law is certainly an example of a player who only has a few good games per season.

  8. I believe I was at that match as well. I recall the snake line at the "Boy's Gate", then sitting on the track beside the corner flag and having to move back as a police horse strode through and when Alex Scott needed room to take a corner. My recollection is that the crowd was around 45,000?

    Health & Safety?

The 5-1 game at Cathkin is listed as a league match on 12 April 1958. The League Cup game was 3-0 on 30 August 1958. Not sure if the game we remember was either of those but I do recall it being a sunny day.

The game I think was a League Cup tie in August 1961, Rangers won 2-0. Here is a photo. I think that is Geordie Young, the Third's manager at the time, centre foreground. Not sure if you are in it BH :D

  9. Only got "lifted over once" was at Cathkin remember sitting on pitch due to size of crowd and Davy Wilson running into me when he scored one of his goals, shame what happened to "HiHi's"

That was my first ever Rangers game. I think I paid my 1s/6d entrance at the boy's gate. That was the day of the Cathkin break-in, first game of the season League Cup tie, when people climbed over car roofs to get over the wall. For safety reasons the police allowed kids like myself onto the pitch behind the goals to ease crowding. Each time Rangers scored, twice I think, we all ran onto the pitch to be chased off by mounted police. I was hooked on Rangers after that :rfc:

  10. Tom English was tweeting how ridiculous the idea that all clubs could be guilty of sectarianism, flare throwing and smoke bombs. Just at that moment a smoke bomb goes off at the Forfar v Linlithgow Rose cup tie. What a twat English looks.

The bigger the fan base a club has the more idiots it is likely to have, but there are idiots everywhere.

  11. I joined RST and gave money to buy shares which in a small way achieved a better Board in charge of Rangers, but now I'm waiting for a share issue so that my money will go directly to Rangers and I will own a small piece of the team I have supported since a boy.
