  1. Interesting joke from Lineker re the Arsenal job perhaps going to Klopp's ex-number 2. gesturing towards Gerrard he asked: "what big club would appoint an inexperienced manager...." Gerrard said there was nothing wrong with that and it was the only way to get the experience as Ferdinand and Lampard laughed.
  2. https://streamable.com/fsjlu Btw - I thought Lineker was punning on "loan Ranger" as in BT had him on "loan" from Rangers,
  3. Not a "loan ranger" said Lineker before quizzing Gerrard straight away. Gerrard said he'd had positive talks and would be picking them up on Thursday. He - quite rightly - would be pushed no further but seemed pretty relaxed. He and Lampard ended the conversation with big grins on their faces but it's clearly not over the line. Lineker was very positive about the club and opportunity. Gerrard agreed but said talks were ongoing (in effect) and to be picked up on Thursday.
  4. Looks like the "Star" jumped the gun and all the others (Keys etc) were just following their headline. Having said which the denial is via the equally unreliable gollum.
  5. Richard Keys Twitter: Congrats to Stevie G. Delighted. Too many of today’s x-pro’s duck the challenge. Top man Could still all be from the Star, of course...
  6. And you were right to do so....
  7. I know Buster. There are other folk quoting it too, however. Might wrll be just Star pish as I indicated. "3 year deal" unnecessarily specific, though.
  8. Multiple outlets saying it is a done deal. Tabloid crap outlets like the Star and below, but still : https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/953733/Steven-Gerrard-to-Rangers-Liverpool-agrees-contract-manager
  9. Perhaps this is connected with the delayed announcement of wtf is going on manager-wise
  10. By the last game of the season we may have so few players left eligible or able to play that we will have no choice.
  11. Behind the scenes is one thing. In front of the scenes, he first told us not to trust the asset-stripper Green and then he told us to trust him. In-between this he got the shares for a penny each. You are right that he has done more good for the club than anyone on this board, but he has also done more damage to it than anyone on this board. Life isn't black and white nor simple, instead, it's grey and complex. He did many good things (we'd have lost titles without him both on and off the pitch) and he did many bad things.
  12. Another problem is that the official website is currently down..... ...of course some may read that as a sign of something exciting about to go up, though I can't see why they'd have to put it offline first...
  13. Sky Sources have revealed the negotiations with Steven Gerrard to become new manager could be concluded by the end of the week, with an announcement in due course. The 37-year old has not been ‘put off’ the job after yesterday’s result, and in fact is said to be more ‘excited’ than ever by the idea of getting one over on both Celtic and his old boss Brendan Rodgers. While further negotiations have been confirmed for this week, they are said to be progressing well, and it has been revealed that Gary McAllister will indeed be his assistant manager if the deal can be sorted. As we explained earlier, budget does not appear to be a stumbling block, but Gerrard is said to seeking reassurances about his ambitions, his needs, and the level of control he will have once in the hot seat. This one could well be ratified by as early as Friday, but we shall wait and see. Link under review! Pete
  14. We certainly do but last year Europe cost us money, as we'd have made more in the League Cup diddy rounds (diddier even than the later rounds)
  15. That's so unlikely that it is hard to quantify. We'd have to get into the qualifying rounds and then get through them. I don't see that happening, it is not that long until they start after all. We don't even know what manager or players we will have.
  16. Whyever not? Hell's teeth, in "Anthony and Cleopatra" a messenger is taken out and whipped for telling the truth. On football internet forums shooting is too good for those whose rosy predictions fail to come to pass.
  17. Yes, but they've looked silly before and the phrase " a few things still to iron out" directly contradicts what kopger said. not that I'm saying he's wrong, it's just odd that he specifically said there was nothing left to "iron out".
  18. Kopger may say it is done, but Rangers beg to differ: “We can confirm talks with Steven are at an advanced stage. There are still a few things to iron out, but we will be going onto further talks and hope to have an announcement next week.” Statement via Sky
  19. Let's hope that KopGer, who was certainly bang on with Rossiter, knows his stuff because, inevitably, others are now alert to the fact Gerrard is ready to choose his starting club: The Daily Mail has reported that the Light Blues are not the sole runners in the hunt for the 37-year-old rookie manager as it is understood English Championship club Ipswich are interested in appointing him as Mick McCarthy’s successor. https://www.footballinsider247.com/dave-king-must-up-the-ante-to-coax-gerrard-to-rangers-after-reported-english-club-interest/
  20. Didn't take them long: Rangers news: Steven Gerrard STALLING over Ibrox move as Celtic secure SPL title STEVEN GERRARD is unsure about taking the Rangers job next season. By AARON STOKES The Liverpool legend is the front-runner to take over from Graeme Murty at the end of the season, and numerous sources have claimed Gerrard is close to agreeing a deal at Ibrox in the coming days. But as Rangers were on the wrong end of a 5-0 hammering to Celtic in the Old Firm Derby, it appears the 37-year-old is not yet sold on the idea of moving to Glasgow. According to The Sun, Gerrard is unsure whether to leave Liverpool's under-18 setup and take the plunge in Scotland's top flight. The former midfielder is said to be '50/50' over accepting the role next week. Gerrard has spoken to the club board over free transfer targets as Rangers continue to struggle financially. But despite the delay in any decision, the Liverpool legend is still the bookies' favourite to replace Murty. However, today's 5-0 defeat at Parkhead may also leave Gerrard with some doubts over the strength of Rangers' squad. https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/952754/Rangers-news-Steven-Gerrard-Old-Firm-derby-Celtic-rumours-gossip
  21. How do you work that out? He was specifically talking about on-field matters at that time and drawing a line from when we had played Brechin. ""In terms of looking forward from where we were four or five years ago at the bottom, the progress that has been gradually made, we are probably ahead of the curve in reality if we finish second or third."
  22. Lord alone knows how he managed to do this so soon after. I'm impressed. If anyone knows him please tell him that he's the only bear that's impressed me on this screen, (given that we hardly get to see our fans in the ground).
  23. Just think, according to AJ we are "ahead of the curve"; thank fook we're not behind it, eh? Anyone here going to the POTY bash tonight?
