Not a "loan ranger" said Lineker before quizzing Gerrard straight away. Gerrard said he'd had positive talks and would be picking them up on Thursday. He - quite rightly - would be pushed no further but seemed pretty relaxed. He and Lampard ended the conversation with big grins on their faces but it's clearly not over the line. Lineker was very positive about the club and opportunity. Gerrard agreed but said talks were ongoing (in effect) and to be picked up on Thursday.

Looks like the "Star" jumped the gun and all the others (Keys etc) were just following their headline. Having said which the denial is via the equally unreliable gollum.
