  1. And you see a contradiction there? I don't
  2. Another development: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mike-ashley-steps-down-newcastle-5860799? Mike Ashley steps down from Newcastle United board as he appoints Steve McClaren as the new head coach 20:33, 10 JUNE 2015 BY RECORD SPORT ONLINE TOON chief steps aside on same day he issues a statement to the Rangers board outlining why he wants his £5m loan paid back immediately. MIKE ASHLEY has stepped down from the Newcastle United board hours after appointing Steve McClaren as the club's new head coach. Ashley- who has a 9% shareholding in Rangers and today issued a statement outlining the reasons why he believes the £5m loan he made to the Ibrox club should be paid back, has stepped back from the running of the club he owns after investing £240 million in the Premier League side. McClaren, has been appointed to the Newcastle board – in a takeover by the club's football brains. The former England chief will not only be head coach – but also wield power alongside a new ruling committee – minus owner Ashley. And now McClaren, Chief Scout Graham Carr and club ambassador Bob Moncur have today been appointed to the board, alongside MD Lee Charnley. Ashley steps aside along with Finance Director John Irving who has got a new job. Newcastle is the only club who have their head coach on the board – but the hierarchy reckons it is the best way to deliver success. Watch the Daily Record Football Show as Keith Jackson and Co. discuss Rangers search for a new manager and Dave King's blueprint for the future.. Charnley said in a statement released by the club: “This is a very positive step forward for the club and I am delighted that Steve, Graham and Bob will join me on the board. “Graham and Bob’s passion for the club is beyond question and I believe given the collective skills, knowledge and experience, together, we are incredibly strong. “Whilst, of course, we all have our individual primary duties, there is a huge common desire for the club as a whole to move forward and succeed.” Charnley, 37, has worked at Newcastle United since 1999 and been on the board since 2008.

  4. You old timers with your fancy knowledge. I'm left with "well known category of poster" rather than a specific name. Unless, of course............
  5. Not sure what would be eye opening about it, we failed to get out of the second tier in a country where the top tier is a standing (just) joke.
  6. Football fans around the country have done so for many a year, it's hardly an unkown situation. Managers can leave the day after you buy your season ticket too, as can players. People you hate can be signed. You don't go and ask to return your ticket, you go and see your team. In our case, the Rangers.
  7. I have a feeling we'll be hearing that kind of thing pretty soon unless season tickets fly out the window. Not that I'm against it - it is the truth and what we feel
  8. I love Walter for many reasons but I think he honestly believes Ally was the right man - I mean I think he still believes it, he thinks Ally was hard done by.
  9. Hugely helpful, worth coming back in to read such wit.
  10. Well Walter is having input on the managers position and "previous managers" have been identifying potential signings, so it will not be "nothing whatsoever". Of course the new manager could ignore the player recommendations altogether - if he has time to do so.
  11. I thought it was already stated (more than once) that Walter will be involved in that capacity,
  12. If it is something like that, then OK. He said it in plural though and the previous managers' views on players scares me shitless
  13. I think he did well remaining polite in the face of the stupidity he was confronted by; one question was so insanely wrong-headed it took his breath away.
  14. Knowing who the managers in question are would either have worried me more or eased my fears a little (or....lets see - who are the contenders? Greig, Walter, Souness, Advocaat (doubt he'd know our price range), McCoist, McDowell, McCall = who out of those would be encouraging???).. The comment without specifying who led to my feeling of discouragement as I've learnt that with Rangers it is never wise to look optimistically on any ambiguity as not only is it usually the worst of all seeming options but we usually unearth a hitherto unimaginable and far more deleterious option and that's the one it turns out to be.
  15. I was not encouraged by his comment that previous managers had been identifying potential signing targets.
  16. However, he did write "the" not "a"; the definite article making it refer to a specific set (and a rvery obvious set in context) rather than "any" as the indefinite would have indicated.
  17. And yet in the Rhetard's "Runners and Riders" they say his "exceptional record" gives him a chance. Exceptionally bad, yes.....but that's not what they mean
  18. Surely Ally and/or Kenny occupy that position
  19. Hopefully as absurd an article as it appears to be on first reading. The very thought, he'd re-sign McCulloch as captain, bring back Ally as his assistant and hand over to Ally at the end of the season. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. Nurse, nurse, my medicine, quickly please.
  20. I like this: "must also have a high degree of technical ability in order to fit within the new style of play at Rangers. “It requires players to be comfortable in a team which contain players who are creative on the ball, "
  21. Isn't that the guy who may now be about to be sacked for speaking to us? See #120
  22. Your online translation friend will reveal that this says Pereira may be sacked for talking to us. They see it as "violating the club's code of loyalty". They are suggesting he may be a free agent, imminently. http://relvado.sapo.pt/mercado/rumores/vitor-pereira-pode-ser-despedido-mesmo-sendo-campeao-507681
  23. First four words told us that
  24. Phew....I voted the right way
