Worry not, I wasn't referring to your post in the slightest, I don't even think I had read it until this made me go back and look. I was just jesting...

Well done in surviving all that, BH. Please inform the board when it is due and proper time to start being rude to you again ;-)

I hope that when Ally does turn up at the stadium that it doesn't take the focus away/distract from the good & united-behind-the-team feelings that everyone has been reporting thus far this season. Opinion seems divided on forums and, as ever on internet forums, extreme positions are generally favoured. It would be a shame if this was replicated at the ground.

I hope we keep everyone. Planning for next season improving the current squad for are all necessary and laudable but the main thing - if things continue as they have started - will be keeping everyone. English clubs battling relegation or hoping for promotion will throw ludicrous money about in January as the prize for being in the EPL next season is so huge. You will see clubs who already have too many players buying lots just in the hope a few work out. Our full backs will have drawn covetous glances, I'm sure. Keeping what we have is a priority for me.

Rangers close in on the capture of veteran midfielder John Eustace
SteveC replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Warburton clearly thinks he can make an important contribution and probably has one eye on the possibility of meeting you know who in a cup and wanting an experienced head in the midst of the battle. -
Imran calls us (the whole club) religious bigots and that the Police are deeply and emotionally intertwined with us...oh and death threats, of course......... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-34245039 Former Rangers director Imran Ahmad has said he will remain overseas and not co-operate with an investigation into the sale of the club's assets in 2012. Mr Ahmad spoke out after four other men were charged over the deal. He accused police of being "emotionally connected" to Rangers and described the club as "a religion built on religious bigotry". He also said he would not get a fair trial anywhere in Scotland. Police Scotland, the Crown Office and Rangers all declined to comment. A Crown Office spokesman said: "As proceedings are live for the purposes of the Contempt of Court Act 1981 it would be inappropriate to comment." A police spokeswoman also said that "it would be inappropriate to comment" and this was "a live inquiry". A spokesman for Rangers declined to comment. Ahmad, the club's former commercial director, left Rangers in controversial circumstances in 2013 and later reached an out-of-court settlement with the club. He arrived with Charles Green, who led a consortium which purchased the club's assets following administration and liquidation. That asset purchase in 2012 has been the focus of a police investigation. Earlier this month, four men appeared in court to face charges over the alleged fraudulent acquisition of the assets. They were 62-year-old Mr Green and 44-year-old Craig Whyte, who had bought the club from former owner Sir David Murray in 2011 and was at the helm during its financial collapse the following year. Two other insolvency practitioners were also charged over the deal. They were David Whitehouse, 50, and Paul Clark, 51, who worked for Duff and Phelps and acted as joint administrators for Rangers during the 2012 insolvency. Following the court appearances, Mr Ahmad emailed the BBC to say that his legal representatives had contacted the Crown Office in a bid to ascertain if he would face any charges. He said he was initially prepared to return to the UK from overseas, where he has been working. Mr Ahmad said: "I was promised a letter by the Crown...by close of business 4 September 2015 which would also confirm that I would not be arrested at UK border control or by Police Scotland and could attend court on the 29 September 2015 to answer the warrant petition which I wanted to fully cooperate with." Mr Ahmad continued: "A few days ago, the Crown reneged on their promise to provide me with a safe passage letter. "My legal team and I have grave concerns about a defendant in this case being able to receive a fair trial anywhere in Scotland let alone Glasgow. "Every social media site in Scotland has presumed all the defendants to be guilty before a trial has even taken place or for that matter before individuals have even been indicted." Mr Ahmad said that he had recently "received death threats by phone and online". He described Rangers fans as "a tribe", adding: "What the rest of the world will never understand unless they experience it first hand is that Rangers Football Club is a religion, in itself, built on centuries of religious bigotry." The former director also accused Police Scotland of being "an establishment institution which itself is deeply rooted and immersed in Rangers Football Club's history for well over 140 years". Mr Ahmad said: "I firmly believe Police Scotland have their own agenda and are deeply emotionally connected to Rangers Football Club. In my view Police Scotland have a clear conflict of interest." He added: "I have decided not to attend the Crown's 'invite' warrant on the 29 September 2015 and will remain overseas until the trial is over when I will return to the UK."

Armed Forces Day At Ibrox this weekend (vs Livingston)
SteveC replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
There's an astonishingly moving thread on FF about the day. Sorry if it is bad form to "advertise" another site but it is an exceptional thread entitled "Rangers support our Armed forces banner" and I think if admin look at it they will realise why I have posted this -
No problem, it works well in its own thread, cheers

This has been going on for years now and is just getting ever worse. It will continue to do so when we get promoted. And yet all the while the yahoos think we are favoured. -

I didn't see it yesterday so I loved the goals and there was a fabulous move that ended with Oduwa nearly scoring with a brilliant effort. Last year we'd have been raving about this and our manager and players more so. This season the fans felt flat and the manager and team held an inquest. Plus ca change! -

We've got many years of these discussions to go, apparently: http://tinyurl.com/ovpb9hs Dave King warns Rangers fans of five-year wait before truth is known about Whyte and Green eras at Ibrox 07:57, 13 SEPTEMBER 2015 UPDATED 08:25, 13 SEPTEMBER 2015 BY SCOTT MCDERMOTT GREEN and Whyte have both been charged by Police Scotland in connection to Whyte's purchase of the club in 2012. DAVE King fears it could be FIVE YEARS before Rangers fans know the truth about Craig Whyte and Charles Green’s time at Ibrox. The club’s former owner and chief executive have been charged by Police Scotland in connection to Whyte’s purchase of Rangers in 2012. New Ibrox chairman King is eager to find out what really went on as the club were plunged into administration and then liquidation. But he’s warned supporters they face a long wait for answers. King said: “I have some experience of lengthy, complex litigation and I think this will run for quite a few years. “When you have the intervention of Police Scotland’s criminal case alleging against Green of conspiracy, it starts to get complicated. “I’d imagine a lot of parties will now be looking at civil litigation. I really see this being tied up for a number of years. “I don’t think it could possibly happen in two – I would say it will be closer to five. We believe that if anything is found to be untoward, they should be held accountable. “That period of history with Rangers is clearly something the club and supporters have not been able to put behind it. “But it’s more likely, once the criminal case is aired, we will get some clarity as to what was really going on. “We are as much in the dark about it so it will be interesting to see it unfold when the case is presented in court.” King, who was back in Glasgow this week, has reached a settlement with former boss Ally McCoist , who had been on gardening leave . McCoist’s contract has been terminated but ex-caretaker boss Kenny McDowall will be paid until his deal ends in February. King said: “The circumstances are different. I don’t feel he has the alternative opportunities that Ally perhaps has in the marketplace. “He’s earned his gardening leave, the circumstances were out of his control, and it would be improper for us to even suggest we wouldn’t honour his contract in full.”

Thanks Barca, no need for the "with respect", but it was polite of you to phrase it so. I didn't say I didn't agree - if work and distance allowed I'd happily be there tomorrow. I said the motivations of some have caused some disquiet in recent years precisely because a 'love-in with the services' was not the uppermost thing in their minds, rather something far pettier was there, somewhat belittling to the main aim of the day. -

I think some of the reservations that some of us have about this day revolve around it having become something of a "point scoring over the timz" exercise (for some) rather than a straightforward "chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets." I use the word "some" a lot in these couple of lines because I see the thread lurching into "either/or" "black/white" territory at times when I don't think that accurately reflects the things that are being said. Apologies if my assumptions are wrong. -
That's the bit I was half-remembering. Was he successful in this?

Is the 50% salary cut bit true? I thougt it came out that 50% had just been deferred, not actually cut
