    Sandy Jardine was a class act until the very last game he played. Hearts got an absolute gem when he went there. As a full back, there has not been one who could surpass him in a Rangers jersey, and I've seen the utter class of Caldow and Numan. Jardine was a beautiful player.

    Having watched some of the best defenders in the world in over 5 decades, I'd say Gough was a supreme athlete who could defend with the best of them. However, it's all about your opinion, and if you don't agree then fair doos. In my opinion, Gough would not have looked out of place in any team in the world in his prime, and that makes him world class in my eyes. He was an absolute giant.

    Andy might be respected on here, and if he is fair play. That doesn't mean he isn't idiotic on some subjects. In this case, he is wrong, and needs to have a look at himself. That's the end of the story, and his previous contributions have nowt to do with it.

    Trevor Steven was never world class in his life. Neither was Souness, Durrant, McCoist or Goram. World class means guys like Morton, Baxter, and Gough.

    Whether you agree or disagree with them, they have a point of view and have at least pursued an active course of action to push that point of view. I've sniped at them for the way they've gone about things latterly, but I can't find fault with someone getting off their hin' end to change things that they don't like.

    Alan Morton was considered the best player in the world by at least one English football writer of the time. Sandy Jardine was regularly spoken of as world class in mid 70s, along with mcgrain.
