You don't know how that conversation between GM and the board went wrt taking the role up until the end of the season. Personally, I think the board needed him to say yes. I'm not defending GM in the sense I think he's the right man for the job, I don't. The whole club is an ongoing clusterf**k that instead of trying to put a lid on around the time of the AGM, so as to build afresh on various fronts,....the board thought, more of pretty much the same would be ok. Until the board start to get their act together in various ways, we'll go no-where, with Murty or Mr.X. Note that the apparent quality of a prospective Mr.X in the current circumstances will not be at a level that will install confidence.

I think the club need to guide him if we want to go big on a general effort to put pressure on officials (like some other clubs do, successfully). It has a better chance of success, if it is 'second nature' and sustained over a period of time. I think the lad came into the press conference with his hands and mind full, thinking about the first team and the OF game.

Murty is a straightforward guy and is simply saying it as he saw it. If there had been a more general decision to put or build pressure on refs via the media then he'd have been told and most probably have complied. Is that commendable honesty or naivity/inexperience of role ? IMO, probably a bit of both.

The hard part will be getting decent managers to accept the job, the role has become a posioned chalice.

IMO you are being unfair to Murty. The growing omnishambles that has been the club since April 2016 and those who have oversaw it are where anger would be better directed. Murty is a guy who because of circumstances was offered the job and he's decided to take the opportunity. The main issue is the 'omnishambles' + strength of rivals + unrealistic expectations relative to backing........that make this a next to impossible ask.

In some ways, McLaren reminds me of an 'English Eck'. A guy who obviously knows a lot about the game, has some notable chapters in his CV both positive and negative, their best work was years ago and more recently are fading to grey....or in McLaren's case, to Hair Island. Plus, they have both shown that they are big on personal PR and making excuses to a scale beyond the norm. If Rangers were to appoint McLaren, he'd be lucky to last 12-18 months.

An omnishambolic mess. The club has a lack of leadership all the way from the boardroom, to the day to day senior management, to the 'political' communications, to the lack of a manager, to the playing squad. All this underpinned by a financial black tunnel that the above circumstances and incompetence make it difficult to envisage seeing any genuine light for the forseeable. As it stands, I doubt any decent and intelligent manager who does his due dilligence will want the job,...unless they are simply desperate for a job. -------------- The board need to take a decision on Mark Allen and if it is a parting of the ways and they want a DoF in prior to the appointment of a new manager, then get it done. Looks to me as though it'll be another fudged split decision that will be an odds against bet chasing the losses.

An unforseen event meant I missed the game last night but the result makes up for it. By all accounts we rode our luck but that is 6 points from 2 games that it could easily have been only one. 4 premiership wins in a row is hugely important when 3 of those are against immediate rivals. There are aspects to the side that are new and might cause Lennon a re-think/problems. At the same time, it's a first outing for it and may have teething problems but tbh if the attitude/tempo is right then there is no reason why it shoudn't be fluid. I'd say it's more their midfield unit as a whole that could present us problems given our options.. Bartley recycles the ball well, McGeouch is busy and McGinn does a bit of everything. They also have two wide men who can cause havoc (Boyle and Barker) and a forward with occasional bits of quality. Tav and John may have their hands full defensively. They aren't a one man team.

Players coming through at Ajax (and much of their media) will still have a healthy respect for what De Beor has done in the game. Rich young players in Italy and England who wouldn't seen much of him as a player and may not be too patient when De Boer is trying to change their ways in that Dutch style that tends to come accross as authorative/arrogant. That Dutch style (eg. Van Gaal had it in spades) is probably more difficult to use in todays generally 'softer' enviroment.

Forget stats. A foreign coach who when he went abroad, couldn't adapt quickly enough in pressurised enviroments and very quickly got the boot,...twice. If there was a criteria for not making an appointment, De Boer matches an important part of it.

Up at Aberdeen, we started with an intent and purpose that didn't allow a somewhat distracted and unusually sheepish sheep to settle. Tonight, I think Hibs will be up for it and we either match that or struggle. The other issue (especially if McCrorie is out) is moving the ball through the midfield, the lack of both Jack & Dorrans is a big hole to fill. I look at the midfield in Frankie's team and don't see any 'warriors'. As you alude to, if we could catch them cold with an early goal, it might be our best opportunity of setting the tone. Early goals have been a feature of the last few games between the sides. If you add up the minutes (minute when goal scored) of the last three matches, it totals eleven...... (3rd, 3rd, 5th)

Without McCrorie that team looks pretty much as good as it gets. Why do people even consider De Boer ? He went to manage abroad and failed miserably at two clubs. 85 days at Inter and even less at Palace, where he didn't get a League win.
