  1. Not sure, mate, but Nigeria, Ghana and Congo have all done it in the past.
  2. I don't know if it is a new policy or not. I also don't know who the edict came from.
  3. Would you have preferred that I had used Izvestia?
  4. There was a ban put in place for recording of the Q&A session for anyone other than Pravda TV, so we shall have to wait to see how that will be edited. There are unconfirmed reports that it will be released on Vine!
  5. In one breath you say that top class players need to be brought in, and in the next you are saying that the wage bill needs to be controlled. How do they marry up? Ok, so say someone bequeathed £50m today, where would that money be spent, bearing in mind your wage bill statement?
  6. It has been going on for longer than two years. What would this sensible investment consist of and what guarantees would there be with regard to sustainability?
  7. The article is there so that people ignore that area of the transfer and instead dig out their pitchforks and flame their torches....and as can be seen, it's having the desired effect.
  8. It's not unbelievable that if a player impresses on the European stage, they will attract interest from clubs within the richer leagues. See Alan Hutton for further proof.
  9. Do they manage it 'no problem'? I have no idea of their finances, but I would have thought that they would have profited greatly from uncontested entry into the CL, and partly as a result of that exposure, have been able to buy low and sell high. There are no guarantees that shelling out millions would lead to that stranglehold being broken. Rangers fans forget about financial recklessness in the same way women forget about the pain during childbirth. It's bizarre!
  10. There is no money to sanction that sort of spend, and even if there was, it is just the same unsustainable model that has been in place for years.
  11. 1. The bribe claims are already being investigated by FIFA. 2. Alleged abuses of workers' humans rights have nothing to do with a football association. 3. Jim Murphy is an attention-seeking cunt.
  12. Maier Suurbier Passarella Beckenbauer Maldini Zidane Cruyff Pele Muller Ronaldo Maradona They may concede one or two, but by Christ, they will entertain. Proper football.
  13. I understand the point being made, but then it will be because of the need to do well in the top league, then needing to win the league, then needing to be strong for Europe. And so it will go on. These excuses have been trotted out for years now when what was needed was someone brave enough to give it a go.
  14. It all boils down to expectations I suppose. There will always be a sense of disappointment until they are lowered significantly. I don't think a good manager would get that much out of that group of players, but then again, a good manager wouldn't have gone down that particular route. Too many got caught up in this romantic notion that playing in the third and working up would be a great adventure and that normal service would be resumed post haste. It won't, too much ground has been lost for that. Sure, the domestic scene will eventually return to the two-horse race that it always has been but the gulf with the rest of Europe has widened to such an extent that it will take an extraordinary group of players and a very capable manager to bridge it.
  15. I'm not his greatest fan, but the problem, albeit self-inflicted, started with the standard of player he brought in. The phrase 'You can't polish a turd' springs to mind.
  16. Just a short text from a mate of mine. I'm sure that it will be reported in time.
  17. Looks like Wallace stayed true to form and just bluffed his way through without answering anything put to him. Nice wee junket mind.
