You know what? I like the two attacking wingers; I like the position the #8s are taking up, and their runs in behind; and I'm excited by Tavernier's position, which is inside, like Alexander-Arnold. What's letting us down is the combination-play. As soon as we do the work and ping the ball into the wingers or #8s (Tavernier has done so a few times, along with Lundstram and Barisic), the ball goes backwards. We need to work on the next pass, once it gets into the wingers or #8s.

If he's good enough, get him on the pitch!

I've not seen enough of him, to be honest. He did well enough when he started the Old Firm game a couple of years ago. But he's not played since, so it appears he's not good enough - certainly not to start ahead of McGregor and McLaughlin. Now we're giving him a new deal, which suggests he's got something about him. So, is he good enough or not? (Or, is he just a permanent back-up? That would be a waste of the lad's career.)

Topic split off. I'll make a poll of the options, if there's interest.

Hull have reached an agreement with Olympiacos manager Pedro Martins to become their new manager. He's won three titles on the bounce. Why can't we target someone like that? I wonder how much Hull are offering him?
