Good job we did sign him - who would've played today if we didn't?!

I don't care for the 'player X couldn't get a game for Y club, so he's not good enough for us' argument. We discussed this at the time, but Bournemouth had a settled side for several years and played in the PL. It's not really a surprise that he couldn't get a game. What's interesting is that Eddie Howe wanted to keep the lad around when they were in the PL. I think he's looked quite good in the little I've seen. He looks composed on the ball and has a turn of pace, which is what we need.

Try to post in Ranges chat when it's about Rangers, or a Rangers player. Non-Rangers related football chat goes in general football. I'll move it.

The Everton-Villa game was superb viewing.

Played my bench boost (allowing you to collect points from your bench) in the Fantasy League, thinking it's free points, to consolidate my lead at the top of the Gersnet Fantasy League. Vestergaard got sent off last night, so my bench is actually costing me points...

Yes, good player, but, at 31, not for me.

I like Batshuayi. I think he needs a settled team around him, though; and consistent games. I'd take him as a Morelos replacement...

In terms of finishing, yes; but they get those chances because of the Werner's pace. Catch-22.

I feel like Aribo is the whipping boy now. What's that about? No one was good against St Johnstone.
-
I mean--I was screaming at him against St Johnstone when he took the ball for a walk so close to our own goal late on, but showed tremendous ball control and composure to duke the defender then calmly pass it out. Terrific. I agree he looks like a good option.

Chelsea should have scored about 3 or 4. Chelsea have made a good start under Tuchel, but I've always thought that Tuchel is still unhappy at the conversion rate or even just the decision making in the final third. When you think back to his Dortmund sides, in terms of attacking play, Chelsea are some way off that level of efficiency.

Now confirmed by both Leipzig and Bayern.

Looks like Nagelsmann is on his way to Bayern Munich.

After defeats, I'm often left thinking about what we needed to win the game, in terms of players. With the season pretty much over, it's probably a good time to discuss our recruitment more widely. Defensively we look good. Okay--concentration last night was poor, but we have a very good back 5 with more than able replacements. In the attacking third, we had enough to win the game, but perhaps we could use another attacking player with a bit of pace? A pacey #10 or winger, maybe? We do have good forwards. I think--or perhaps hope--that Itten will get better after a season under his belt. We'll need to replace any that leave, though. It's funny, when we signed Zungu, most were saying that we didn't need any more central midfielders and that it was a waste of money (even if Zungu is not good enough). Last night we certainly needed it. A couple of injuries and we're lacking. Some energy in the middle would have been useful--even if just to move Aribo further forward. I think we could do with a box-to-box midfielder; someone in the Arfield mould. It's also in the middle that we can expect to lose some players too.
