The result's irrelevant in this: you responded to a post about the difference in performance, to which you responded 'it was because SG had 5 central midfielders'. I'm suggesting that's nonsense, and quite a lazy argument. (For me, It's the same as those that complain about us having "three sitting midfielders in a home game", which completely fails to understand the way the game is played. I'm not suggesting you hold that opinion.) Ojo contributes very little to the performance. He is not the difference. Our pressing game against Feyenoord does not rest upon Ojo being included or not; it's too complex for that. Against Celtic, SG brought on Ojo with 45 minutes to play -- and then Jones with 25 minutes to play -- where was the reversal in performance? Where was this awesome performance that relies on 4 central midfielders instead of 5? That's laughable. The inclusion of Ojo does not suddenly get the other 4 midfielders pressing and winning 50/50s. It misunderstands the work that goes into a pressing game. The criticism should be for SG's inability to work out the press against Celtic, and for the players for showing a distinct lack of fight. -

Touche. But my point stands: There's no way Ojo's inclusion -- a man who does virtually nothing for the whole game, other than pop up to score -- was the difference between a fast, tough-tackling, aggressive, pressing performance against Feyenoord and whatever that was against Celtic, which displayed the complete antithesis. And, it was certainly not simply because we had "5 central midfielders". Such a lazy argument. -

Ojo's not a winger, or a forward; and, he's barely more attacking than Aribo. If your argument rests on the difference Ojo makes in the team, then it's not much of an argument; it was lazy to begin with. -

I thought Helander was well suited to tonight's game. It was clearly not meant to be a backs-against-the-wall match -- which suits Katic --, but played more on the front foot. Helander is a good passer and he reads the game well, intercepting several forward passes. He's also far more experienced than Katic. I thought Barasic had a good game. He looked confident. If Ojo could learn to contribute to the rest of the game -- other than popping up to score and assist -- he'd be some player! He's got the technique and physicality to go far. He switches off, almost, and lacks that mental toughness, as well as making the wrong decisions quite often. He's probably at the best place to learn these things, though. Jack was terrific again. Kamara is annoying me. I love Kamara as a player, but he seems so complacent now. Shielding the ball was his main strength last season, now he gets caught. It's almost as if he's better when he doesn't have to think: those instinctive twists and turns come off, but when he has to think he gets caught or misses the pass. Arfield puts in a shift but, like Tavernier, he's been out of form this season, for me. Maybe a little more rest is in order? We were imperious in the first half last night, then the intensity and aggression seemed to disappear in the second. I didn't mind allowing Feyenoord to pass it across their back line -- we mastered that last season -- but the aggression in the press and 50/50 challenges was non-existent. In the first half we were pressing them, catching them, winning the challenge and breaking on them. I was too caught up in the game to notice, but maybe they made a structural change to better suit their ball possession and nullify our press? Even though, I still felt we had chances, if we weren't so wasteful; we kept giving the ball back to them. It's a good win, nonetheless. -
I can't argue with Morelos, Jack, Helander, McGregor, but I voted for Barasic because he hadn't received a vote; he had a good game.
