Lewis MacLeod comment? I must have missed that! What was it?

He spoke well, in spite of the truly atrocious questions. (The female journalist had a good question regarding Jock Wallace -- Ooft!)

15th Manager! Zappa...

And Sky Sports HQ.

Great news. Good picture. (Should have been a fountain pen - quality.) I was surprised that he's our first English manager, but it's not so unusual. We're a Scottish Club so the majority of our managers have been Scottish. The only time we've overlooked a Scot was to go European to succeed in Europe. Fresh start in many ways. I like how they mentioned the Jock Wallace connection, but completely omit the fact Warburton criticised his training methods!

New management team: Mark Warburton and David Weir
Rousseau replied to gisabeer's topic in Rangers Chat
According to Wikipedia, McInnes joined Bristol City bottom of the league, then went on an 8-game unbeaten run keeping them in the league; he was then sacked after loosing 7 games in a row leaving them bottom. So, it one step forward and one step back -- pretty average. Of course the state of the club must be taken into account, but ultimately he did nothing. My point is he is more of the same. He is nothing special and is not progressive. He could have done an OK job at Rangers, but in all honesty what is the best he could achieve? I don't see us progressing under him. He's overrated by most Scottish commentators, and is probably underrated by Us. He's probably an average Scottish coach. There's nothing there that really appeals to me. -

He could certainly rebuild the side, but so could McCall. The point is he is more of the same (McLeish, McCoist, McCall etc.), and doesn't have a progressive track record. I'm not sure about his record at Bristol City with regards to youth, but at Aberdeen he's just using what's there; I wouldn't say he's 'brought on youth'. -

He could have done a good enough job, but I think the point is he is more of the same. He may have given us a boost, but I don't see him rebuilding the whole infrastructure of the club in a progressive way. -
Most certainly. And--theoretically--he would only get better with age.
-
He's still only 23?! Get him signed -- Centre-Halfs only really peak when they get near 30.

It does feel like a fresh start, rather than another old-boy doing more of the same. Hopefully he'll get time. I'd like to see him stamp his authority on the place ASAP -- that'll do for me. -

I wonder if Warburton's appointment is the news that will give ST sales a boost? He'll knead all the dough he can get to remodel the squad... *gets coat* -

Okay, I'm a bit more confident it's going to happen, but I'll wait for official confirmation. -

Calm down people! He's not even been appointed yet. No wonder we get frustrated at a lack of movement: we're days ahead of everything. -

For me it's simply about Warburton's professionalism. It seems like he'd get the team drilled and trained in a way we've not seen in a while, if ever. Added to that his youth development credentials, he makes for a very compelling choice. He's not the 'star' name, but he appears to have the skills we require. -

If that happens I'll need a box of tissues! Doubt it'll happen, but I'd take either. I think those types are the way to go. -
Mike Ashley tells Rangers FC 'we're not a bank' over loan deal
Rousseau replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
We are using the money, if not used it, but MA can only get it back if we default on it, which is unlikely. He'll need to negotiate if he wants his money back. Great idea. -
Moneyball - Can statistical scouting be used by Rangers?
Rousseau replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It's another modern practice that should be implemented at Rangers; one of many I might add. We need to modernise, and perhaps find a niche, because there is no way we can compete with most clubs that should our direct rivals (not just in Britain, but Europe also). -
Mike Ashley tells Rangers FC 'we're not a bank' over loan deal
Rousseau replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I wouldn't. There's no interest and no timescale for repayment. It's 'free' cash, we may as well use it. Moreover, I believe King is using it as leverage to renegotiate the retail deals. Shrewd move IMO. -
I think he's got a point. I thought he was injured, but if he wasn't, then why leave him out when the other strikers were doing so poorly? He was a decent target-man--ironically we might have suited him with the long-balls we were playing. There's no need to have a go at King though: he's not picking the team. King is entirely correct in stating they failed.
-
The King interview on Rangers TV was better than the press conference. It occurred to me that King wants to keep the loan at the minute as leverage. He sees the loan not in isolation but as linked to the SD deal. The loan is interest free and there is no timescale (I think?), so what's the harm in taking his money? We want to renegotiate the retail deal, and now we have leverage.

3? I only get 2 bought from Scottish sides. I think the poor football was a consequence of management rather than the players per se. I think they were capable of better. I think that's true of any future player, regardless of nationality: a better coach/manager will allow them to play better football. I always think a team should have a core of domestic/national players, but I take your point that many are not of the standard we'd like to see. However, a core, or spine, of domestic/national players doesn't necessarily mean they are the 'creative' players, simply the backbone of the side; theoretically, you'd acquire better, more creative players to add flair.

Maybe not the fun I had in mind! You get some funny clips:

OK, he is on more than we can afford! My point was his mental problems might mean he has to take a step down (with a pay cut), would you take a gamble on him?

As has been said above: the questions from the journalists were ridiculous, mostly based on their own wild speculations. Clueless. I've seen better questions posed on this thread.
