  1. I do, anyway...if Ally hadn't taken that money it would have disappeared into a board shaped black hole. If it absolutely HAD to leave the club, and history suggests it would have vanished one way or another, I'd rather a club legend got it than some jumped up clippie from Greenock.
  2. Sounds like an attempt to create an already existing league for the wee teams, the easier to then introduce an actual European league for the elite. But I can't see why the English teams, for example, would want to be a part of it when they make so much money from their domestic product.
  3. I would have bet good money that that was Notts County. The memory is going, right enough.
  4. ***Warning**** will contain extra pretentiousness and tenuous allusions
  5. We could avoid this situation arising in future by getting a petition together, asking the club to ensure none of the current players lean to the avaricious side. Given the wide availability of footballers who don't have a shred of self-interest, any who do could easily be replaced.
  6. I object to this shocker even more. Even the Rangers website articles are riddled with basic spelling mistakes. Sigh
  7. Since I was a youthful 'Ally, Ally GTF'er back in the early 80's I've always had a guilty conscience where Ally is concerned, so I'm quite prepared to draw a veil over both the 'football' his teams played and his financial dealings and simply remember the goalscorer who brought me so much happiness. Those who prefer to hate the sight of a club icon are perfectly entitled to their opinion, I'd just say nobody is perfect. Best of luck in the future, Ally.
  8. Bit harsh on Murdoch - according to the radio on Saturday, for his goal he volleyed in a cross from the edge of the box. Seemingly it was a stunner of a goal.
  9. I disagree with this Rab, we've a ways to go before we're totally healthy, and I'd rather we focused on ourselves for at least a season, and probably a lot more than that, before we get involved in the wider scene. Not as if we've a brilliant record as drivers of the game anyway.
  10. Perhaps a salutary reminder of how fleeting our relevance is would be that for many readers under 20, the epithet 'Britney' will be mystifying. If only the real Britney would release a song having a go at Rangers, her fame would be assured for generations.
  11. Fwiw I think Kelly, the goalie, is better than most of us think having seen him in that final at the end of last season - seemed very confident and certainly saved a point toward the end. The RB Lang, my God he did a power of work running the line while 99% of the time the left winger cut inside instead of passing to him, must be soul destroying. Strong, decent pace, maybe needs to get a little nippier in the tackle, but there's a player there. Can't say much about the LB as he didn't have much to do but looked good when it came to controlling the ball and driving forward. CB's not very impressive. I may be misidentifying the lad but the sub, Barjonas, has incredible pace. Overall a good, footballing side. Looked tired after about an hour but Elfideldo has explained that one. Final point is if you're going to an evening game from now on, take a jumper.
  12. Free parking, and all. Decent stuff so far, bit start-stop but the numbers 10 and 11 v.impressive. 9 good, 4&8 bossing midfield. Motherwell 's no 9 is a big lad so the defence looks a bit shaky but worth coming to so far.
  13. Does anyone know if it's open to the public? I quite fancy going over to see it.
  14. It'll be a terrible hindrance to us, knowing what the SPFL have been up to for the last wee while.
  15. Suspiciously familiar surname for older fans, there.
  16. Spoke to four staff in the youth set up this week and they are absolutely bouncing off the walls with enthusiasm and excitement. The support from the top, the belief in the system and the desire to create not just good players but good people was inspiring. I think we're in great hands and the future looks - as much as you can ever say, anyway - bright.
  17. The only thing missing from the way the club's being run nowadays is a walking, talking link to understanding the pressures of being a Ranger. No better man to solve that problem than John Greig.
  18. Man, these videos are a revelation. Inane is too kind a word.
  19. Even more weirdly, unless my memory is worse than I thought when many clubs around Scotland were throwing up lego stadia to comply with the Taylor report back in the day, one of the main builders to benefit was Barr's, the company of Ayr Utd chair or owner or something, George (?) Barr. You'd have thought he'd have done them a good deal.
  20. Seems to be a done deal until January. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/aug/18/arsenal-gedion-zelalem-rangers-loan
  21. I could do one for the Ayr United game if you like? It wouldn't be very long though.
