Agreed, but the big question is how can we go to places like Dortmund, Porto, Braga, Eindhoven and get fantastic results and performances, but can't do it at Dingwal, Paisley, Aberdeen and Parkead? 55 apart, been same story since we got promoted to SPFL. Only difference under SG and Gio is our phenomenal progress in Europe.
-
Never gonna happen. We (fans) are too impatient and we'd throw the kids under the bus. As usual with us, we look at ways to improve ourselves in retrospect. The time to have done this was back in 2013 onwards when we were playing in lower leagues and we would be reaping the rewards now. Instead Super Ally and the board singed greats like Ian Black, Jon Daly, Richard Foster (Christ the list is endlessd)
-
But it's latterly the same squad that got us to EL final less that 100 days ago (Aribo and Bassey apart).
-
There is no reason why we can't finish 3rd in our group, then fall into EL. We are nowhere near CL quality, but we have already successfully gotten to CL by knocking out a team who should have beaten us. We are a good team at EL level and shown that for 3 or 4 years now, getting better each season. Why we can't replicate that domestically (under two managers) is the big question.
-
What, beating PSV over two legs doesn't show we can compete in Europe? We got to EL Final just over 100 days ago, whilst losing to teams domestically.
-
The issue is, we will perform well in Europe. That's the infuriating and worrying thing. How can we compete at that level yet look abysmal in a league full of teams (them uncluded) that are utter dog shit
-
Infuriating - alarming how far we have regressed domestically under Gio. This is back to OF games under Pedro and Murty. Come on Gio, give us a handstand
-
Nevermind, we'll be able to laugh at them getting knocked out of 3 European competitors whilst we dropped further and further behind them as they waltz another league title. I'm sure our board don't care about domestic honours , they prefer making millions in Europe and investing a pittance back into the team.

Can we put the MOTM thread up - need something to lighten my mood.....
-
3 holding/defensive midfield players is setting up not to lose. Tillman has been our best creative player this season and is moved to accommodate those 3 players. That's setting up not to lose or signs the manager hasn't got a clue. Both scenarios are worrying
-
He's been punted wide right to accommodate 3 defensive midfield players.
-
So unlike Rangers ruining your full weekend before it's started - have a gig to go to tonight and now can't be bothered. Thanks Rangers... 😊
-
Nevermind, next game is in Europe, we'll be fine in that one I'm sure....
-
Even when not winning leagues, SG had us not fearing them. We approached these games with belief in how we played, and we got some very good victories and performances (even in defeats). Now we've gone to fearing them, setting up not to lose, standing off them, letting then dictate games and run all over us. Big question is why as its mostly the same players...
-
Set up not to lose (again) and backfired (again).
-
Really? I can't see them losing domestically. They are on a 35 (or there abouts) unbeaten run in SPFL. We struggle to open up teams, they are relentless and find a way. Breaks my heart but they are everything we are not at the moment. They remind me of what we were under SG winning 55 and we resemble them during that season.
-
Woeful. Embarrassing. Unprepared Shitfest. Yet utterly predictable. Long long season ahead.
-
Scant consolation - they are f'ing miles ahead of us domestically - this could end up anything. We are horse shit
-
Starting a 38 year old when we all knew they'd fly at us is baffling in the extreme.
-
Var or no var, the are miles ahead of us, today is showing the gulf in class. They are everything we aren't, fast, direct, ruthless we are slow, ponderous and getting ripped apart AGAIN. Simply not good enough - time to stop making excuses and look at how far behind we've fallen.
-
That'll be that then. Another parkhead capitulation. So far off it it's embarrassing- what's the manager thinking? Hasn't learnt a thing.
-
Acht well, held out out for what, 8mins?

The Summer 2022 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

I think the board will disagree - £16M for 2nd choice right back and £20M for 2nd choice left back (a player who was written of by a large section of the Rangers support some months ago). Ross Wilson has to work with a budget that's dictated by his bosses, maybe he'll feel as hacked off as Gerrard and Gio. After all he has to ballance new contracts and new signings within a relatively small budget. After all his signings won us 55, progressed brilliantly in Europe, got to EL final then qualified for CL...... -

A good result on Saturday and the quality / depth of the squad should be separate issues, but I know some fans will not agree! We have enough quality in our squad to get a result on Saturday, we've beaten much better teams than Celtic (PSV being the most recent). Whether we get a result will ne down to how the players perform on the day. The depth of squad will not impact Saturdays result, however, it will undoubtedly have an impact the results over the course of the season. If we can get Helander, Davies, Soutar, Hagi, Roofe, Lowery, Lawrence, Alfie etc back fully fit and keep them fit, IMO the squad has sufficient depth and quality. If not, or we get more players out for prolonged periods or time, we'll struggle. Given the qualification for the CL and having 8 1st team players out, its understandable the fans (and manager) were expecting reinforcements.
