match thread (image) [FT] Ajax 4 - 0 Rangers

3 defensive midfield players is a cert. Jack, Lundstrum and Kamara. Goalie? Don't really care. Goalies make mistakes and when they do they normally result in goals. -
It'll be a short breather, Helander is made of cardboard. Does anyone know how many consecutive games he's managed for us?
-
At least the question / issue would have been raised. Not getting at fan media but it seems its designed to give manager an easy ride. If they can't or won't raise these questions and issues, what's the point of paying top dollar to sit and not ask the relevant questions fans want answers to?
-
Real putting them in their place doesn't help us as no-one domestically can put them in their place, certainly not us going by yesterday's capitulation
-
I wonder any of our "fan media" have the "metal" to put this record to Gio at his next press-conforence?

Said yesterday the our board (and I've heard this from a very good source) have prioritised Europe over domestic success. As long as Gio or who ever is the manager continues to bring in £30-£40M from Europe, domestic negligence will be accepted. I don't see Gio doing a SG and leaving due to not being backed. Someone said yesterday that Celtic are our barometer. If that is the case, they have shown that you can't rule domestically as well as excelling in Europe. Their model is simple - win the league and get automatic qualification to CL. If that doesn't happen, sell 4 or 5 players at an profit. Also, if Celtic are our barometer, check the difference in transfer budgets - their spend dwarfs ours. There is so much wrong with our Club - ticketing, customer service, safe standing, catering, diasabled access to name a few issues and now we've been added to UEFA FFP watch-list, the purse strings are not going to be lossened. Our board are NOT what we need to take us forward but they aren't going anywhere soon so we're stuck with them. The league is not lost, but its now an uphill battle to get back into the race but with (financial) pressure on us to progress in Europe, all our energy and focus will be on that. After the sale of Aribo, Patterson and Bassey we don't have players sales to fall back on - Kamara would be the only player we could sell for a profit in the January transfer window. Bleak period ahead... unless this team clicks and goes unbeaten from now until end of season which I can't see happening.

The Summer 2022 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread
CammyF replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Celtic are not a barometer for me. Goldson - never injured, never missing and never hiding whilst all our other CBs are nowhere to be seen - hence having to play Sands. We needed to sign a keeper in the summer, but McLaughlin is best option at the moment or are we conveniently forgetting McGregors howlers last season? Matondo is a LEFT WINGER being played out of position whilst trying to settle into a new team / culture. But no matter, let's write him off. The EL final was just over 100 days ago so is still relevant especially added to CL qualification this season as it shows a genuine progression in Europe. If Celtic are the barometer domestically, then are they also the barometer in Europe? If they are, we are passing all over them. Unfortunately the board will take European success over domestic for 1 reason (well 30 or 40 million reasons). That's just something we'll need to live with as the board ain't going anywhere soon. -
Currently, yes. Morelos is unfit and a liability as shown at Easter Road. Colak is fit and scoring goals two of which helped us to CL group stages.

Our away league record in 2022 Wins - St Johnstone, Dundee, St Mirren, Motherwell, Hearts (meaningless end of season kick about), Livingston Draws - Aberdeen, Ross County, Dundee United, Celtic, Hibernian Defeats - Celtic x 2

The Summer 2022 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

Rubbish. The vast majority of the players you mentioned played part in getting us to EL Final and qualifying for the Champions League. Most of them helped deliver 55. Again, we can't sell players if nobody wants to buy them. If nobody wants to buy them we have 2 options. Resign them or lose them for nothing. Motondo has been here 5 minutes and appears to be this seasons Bassey / Lundsturm. We had a limited budget to spend, what did you expect or put another way, who did you expect us to sign? Soutar was a free transfer and worth remembering that we need a percentage of Scottish players in our CL / Euro squad. So if not Wright and Soutar, then who? -
Aribo, Bassey, Lundstrum and I'll predict Lawrence and Tillman will improve us over the season.
-
Meaningless in the context of an utterly embarrassing OF defeat.
-
But we can't sell players if no one wants to buy them.
-
Haven't beaten them (in 90mins) in last 4 games.
-
Domestically? Plenty examples on the Eurepean stage.
-
That Jack Ross is looking for a job...... 😃
-
Well it's obvious we can't compete domestically and in Europe. With the financial gains gotten from Europe, don't think our board are going to change Gio's priorities any time soon. Until we can get £30M for winning SPL and charge £50 upwards for SPL tickets, we are going to continue to prioritise Europe.
-
I think we've already been a success in CL by getting there. In reality we should not have beaten PSV, they have better resources and better players than us. European success for me this season was getting to CL. Now we need to try and finish 3rd and drop into EL. Said many times we aren't CL quality, we are miles away from that, but have shown consistently that we are EL quality.
-
Exactly, but some are saying losing today means we'll automatically be shit in Europe. All I was trying to say is over last 3 or 4 season (55 apart) being shit domestically didn't equate to being shit in Europe. It looks like neither us or them are good enough to compete in both. They've decided domestic superiority is best for them, and we've chosen European success.
-
Managed it after February's thrashing did we not (on European stage and then won Scottish Cup).
-
And tomorrow, this defeat will be yesterday.
-
Wasn't meant to be unfair on SG - but harsh reality he won 1 trophy in his time with the club. He lost semi-finals against the likes of Aberdeen and Motherwell (IIRC). It's fair to day I'd prefer SG and his te still to be here, but they aren't and think we are seeing a regression under Gio. Only his European record keeping him in a job at the moment in my opinion
-
Really? Missed that. What I was told was he was happy to move on of it helped the club but equally happy to stay and give 100% for the club.

They may also study us dismantling Dortumd on their own patch, or us dispatching other European teams at Ibrox.
