  1. And I doubt the Kirk would want any connection with the singing and chanting at Ibrox these days. Considering that the board will be made up of wealthy people I'm not surprised they supported the conservative party. But then considering the working class background of most Rangers fans this support sounds like a bit of a betrayal. After the way the Tories shafted Scotland, I'd almost find it a sell out to our Scottish roots to support this party. I know about this but it was before the two clubs adopted their strong religious stances. There was a very long period of time where we didn't sign a catholic but as we signed at least one Jew it can't have been anything to do with being a protestant only club. This is debatable but I don't think that they had any other religions on the board so your point falls down there. However I don't see Celtic as a catholic club. I maybe see them as some icon for the chip on the shoulder of those Scots brought up us catholics even though most do not practice their faith. I think that the evidence of the heritage suggests otherwise but agree it should not be the case today especially when most Rangers fans don't know the meaning of the word "Presbyterian" and think that Calvinism is an addiction to designer underwear, and that Martin Luther was a black civil rights activist...
  2. Pulp's "Common people": He came from France, he's one in a million, He studied coaching at Rennes and Lyon, that's where Murray, caught his eye. Bain told him that the Mint was loaded, He said "In that case I'll have a new centre forward." They said "Fine." and in thirty seconds time, we said, "We want you here, because we are the people, We want you to do whatever expert coaches do, We want you to win for Rangers people, We want you to win for Rangers people, in blue." He said, "I'll see what I can do..."
  3. To "Show me the way to go home": Show me the way to Ibrox I'm dying to see another game We won the league just over a season ago And we're about to do it again Celtic think their awfy good But they're really average, ye ken This year we'll play them off the park Because we've got Paul le Guen
  4. Bugger I was hoping there would be a game against an English team in the South East or Midlands. Really enjoyed Fulham and Ipswich in the last two preseasons. It's difficult for me to get to Ibrox.
  5. I thought you might say something! But I think we can bless him for bringing in Le Guen. There's no denying he did something right there. You can damn him for all the other stuff...
  6. The doors: The time of Eck McLiesh is through Paul Le Guen is here to inspire With him we cannot lose We'll win the the league before the wire Come on Rangers, light my fire Come on Rangers, light my fire Try to set the league on fire.
  7. How about to Robbie's Angels?: Wherever it may take us Our enemies won't break us When it comes to football Celtic can all hate us We're loving Rangers instead
  8. Weather girls Raining men: It's Paul Le Guen! Hallelujah! It's Paul Le Guen! Amen! We're going on a winning run, And we going to win, Absolutely everything. It's Paul Le Guen! Hallelujah! It's Paul Le Guen! Every Player! Skillful, fast, fit and lean He's training them to be strong and mean God bless David Murray, he's Rangers man too He took off to France and he did what he had to do He brought in a genius to rearrange the team So that each and every Ranger could realise their perfect dream It's Paul Le Guen! Hallelujah! It's Paul Le Guen! Amen!
  9. To the tune of Amarillo: Show me the way to the UEFA final It's at Hampden so getting there's vital Dreaming dreams of a Euro title And Paul Le Guen will take me there. Dado Dado Dado Prso Dado Dado Dado Prso Dado Dado Dado Prso And his goals will take me there
  10. A short, snappy one for Dado could be to Bony M's Daddy Cool: Dado, Dado Cool. Dado, Dado Cool.
  11. I'm never going to like or tolerate a bigot just because he supports the same team as me. The point is we're as guilty as hell, people dress up the excuses as much as they like but the fact is, if the gers fans weren't going out of their way to deliberately be offensive, there wouldn't be these songs, as there wouldn't be the motivation. These Rangers fans actually ENJOY the bigotry and they are just crying foul as their being told not to play their favourite game. Do you really think anyone gives a toss about a sash some guy's father wore? I'd like to see how many Rangers fans on seeing a sash, exclaim, "Oh it's so beautiful!" I'm not saying the song is bigotted, but the motivation to sing it is.
  12. I'll start. How about a version of Lordi's Eurovision winner?: All we need is Prso, With his power and might, Striking down our rivals with fear As his mood is rising, He scores another goal, Now let us rise up and cheer. Rock and roll Rangers win their fifty second league title Scottish and league cups all in one have arrived Rock and roll Rangers win their fifty second league title In Paul's creation, super footballing high. Also to the tune of Oh My God by Kaiser Chiefs Oh my God, I can't believe it, Our new man is Paul Le Guen, Oh my God, you better believe it, The Gers are back on top again. And I suppose you could add: I predict the treble, I predict the treble.
  13. I will deny we even have a protestant heritage. If we have such a heritage why are there no hymns at Ibrox? Why don't we say the Lord's prayer before every game? Why do so few Rangers fans go to church? There IS no protestant heritage, there is ONLY anti-catholic heritage. We never even had a protestant only policy of signing players - only an anti-catholic policy, which is demonstrated when we signed at least one jew as well as plenty of atheists and agnostics.
  14. Rangers withdrew their application due to other events at Ibrox on the same day. There was no decision to make between the two.
  15. Maybe we should sing a few hymns and say the lords prayer just to annoy/confuse the bigots that call themselves "prods".
  16. I've been saying for years about changing the lyrics but now think it's too late due to the point geesabeer made. There will always be idiots who think it's clever to sing the banned words, other idiots will start to join in until there is no doubt that the banned song is heard.
  17. I agree with you Davy. The bigots have killed off the song. We've been arguing for years about changing the lyrics but the idiots have ignored us and now we're too late. People are blaming UEFA but it's the stupidity and maliciousness of our fans that are to blame.
  18. Could make him cheaper - if we're after him.
  19. My main problem with Waterreus is his goals per game ratio which has been approaching 1:1 ie a goal per game. Fair enough the team around the keeper also makes a difference, but when Ron came in, the team was considered to be improved with signings such as Bazza, Buffel and Kyrgiakos (who had a great first season) instead of Boumsong. The thing about the Dutchman is that he never did much where he was completely to blame so he looks not a bad keeper. BUT the defence has been shakier with him as he doesn't communicate with or organise them. He also doesn't pull off the 10 or so wonder saves a season that the likes of Klos, Goram and Woods used to do.

    Maxi Lopez

Hold on, let's not sign another crock... Remember Thern, Nerlinger and Prodan...
  21. The only way he did better than Klos was not to get injured... Other than that he's been our worst no. 1 goalie since Souness came - and maybe not so coincidently, his only full season with us - was the first time we finished lower than second since Souness. In the season where they both played, I make it that Klos let in 11 SPL goals in 23 games, whereas Waterreus let in 11 SPL goals in 14 games. I don't see how that is doing better than his counterpart.
  22. I'm pretty happy about him gone. He was not the most gifted keeper although he wasn't bad. But he seemed clueless about organising a defence, was very dodgy at crosses and his distribution seemed to consist of booting it up to the opposition. His mercernary attitude and lack of fondness verging on disdain for our club meant he was not good for team spirit either. He's basically just not the kind of person we need at the club.
  23. DOES anyone care? I think a few do but Hampden is unavailable, so the most logical backup is Ibrox or Parkhead, Rangers didn't apply. Even if they did it would be a toss up between the two, and it will always alienate a narrow minded section of the support on either side. But for the rational thinking Scotland fan of any persuasion, the game will just be held in a large Scottish stadium in Glasgow.
  24. By the sound of the news report, I'd say Rangers didn't apply...
