Not true and you know it. It was the manner and scoreline which has been gloated over. We all know Rangers have won this league, and it's been over for a while. So clearly that result for St Mirren was every inch about many fans gloating over a crap team thrashing Celtic. Still just don't agree. The evidence on this forum has been at least 60/40 in favour of gloating about Celtic rather than sorting through the more important wreckage of our cup exit. If Celtic had won this forum would have been absolutely full of chat about our cup exit, and most of us would have been only interested in it. As it is, it's been far more about Celtic's amusing misfortunes than more important issues. And out of interest, you use the word gloating, yet it's in our 'long term interest' that they won because Mogga would still be in a job and they'd definitely stay rubbish. So it's a contradiction in messages.

You're welcome He was our best signing last summer Horrible wasn't it. From the 'is that really happening' over there to losing our match - talk about mixed emotions. I was left with far more disdain though. Fair words, none of us have dismissed Celtic's result including me. But I begrudge any supporter prioritising it over our defeat. Which very much appears to exclude you.

It's the same philosophy as absolutely hating someone then they suffer some awful misfortune such as bereavement or illness - you can have human sympathy for their plight but you shouldn't cut them slack in terms of your feelings towards them. Suddenly liking someone or cutting them significant slack because they go through some bad experience is extremely hypocritical.

Then you've not looked Craig. Last post and second page: http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?t=17319 And it's been plastered all over the Rangers section too. Absolutely agreed, I'm gutted he's gone. You seem to be almagamating 2 issues - one being their defeat and subsequent scarves, protests and you name it. The other issue being his firing. You're right, no one appears to be revelling over the firing, but they are revelling over how bad Celtic are to lose 4-0, which is fair enough. The problem is that it's been more important on here than our loss last night, in my view, and that's worrying to see as a Rangers fan.

With great rivalries comes schadenfreud at the nemesis' failures - none of us can deny we were pleased to see Celtic so soundly humped. But like you say, the worry is that a barometer of 'love for Rangers' seems to be how much you can hate Celtic. We all hate Celtic, but it seems to be a priority for some over others. He's got that right, as sad a view as it is. Apathy at our fortunes in any tournament we're competing is a mindset I can't fathom. Don't get me wrong, I've called the Uefa Cup the Consolation Cup since even before Celtic's Savul year, but I still invested my heart and soul into our run in it. Same as when we play East Fife in the first round of any domestic cup. I've been accused of many things in my life as a Rangers fan, but not being that interested in a treble is another mode of thought alien to me.

This all misses the point. I am gutted at losing last night, as you clearly are, but while you're going on about levels of disapproval, you seem to be moving away from the point that we're making; many Rangers fans seem to be revelling in timmy's misfortune more than being bothered about our loss last night. And the day you hate Celtic more than you love Rangers is a sad, sad day indeed.

Terrible shame of course and full sympathy to him but I know damn well no bears even thought of that when giggling at last night's score (before we lost of course) and laughing at Celtic's general misfortunes. What a preposterous notion.

Very few clubs have more than 4 first choice CMs. We were damn unlucky with suspensions and illness which wiped out almost the lot.

Still aren't. We have 4 CMs - how often do you have 3 CMs out for the same game? So do you think we should have 6 CMs?

Saw that too. He was Celtic Minded (whatever that means) until they realised he was shite, it seems. They really don't know their backside from their arm joints. -
You'd say all this because you don't care about cups.

I am getting much more of an impression of bears being happy at Timmy's misery than being gutted at last night's result. I never thought I'd see the day when we enjoyed their misery more than grieving our own failure.

Not sure I agree, I think he's been one of their better performers, and stood out in the OF at Ibrox.

I thought Fleck was our best outfield player - his biggest problem was not making passes. Little was starved of the ball and unable to make any real impact. Edu and Naismith were lightweight in midfield, and I hardly noticed Beasley till the last 20 minutes. Lafferty worked hard but his quality was once again absent. But while we were poor, it took a rebound to beat us. That said, it's scant consolation.

Not read this thread as I don't have the stomach to do so, but last night's result sickened me. The players really didn't get going at all, and sadly Utd deserved the win. That AM was my motm says it all about our display. The Celtic result was of absolutely no consolation to me - I really, really, really wanted the treble.

Why feel sorry for a stubborn fool. He's made a rod for his own back and he can suffer the consequences. His dig at Rangers is pretty much inconsequential and reflects accurately on the kind of manager he is.
-
He was definitely a headless chicken in his younger days, and that has unfairly stuck.
-
Remember that wee conversation we had a while ago about my refusal to believe N_L - it was for the above reason. So seems you've either come round to my way of thinking or I'd like to know why you had a different stance before
-
Just a little point; you're aware this headless chicken who's got poor finishing is the third top scorer in Scotland? I do agree that sometimes when he thinks he tends to make a hash of things, but then that criticism can equally be made of Boyd and Novo.
-
So, roughly translated if we get new owners, stability and contracts for the hierarchy, Boyd will stay. If we don't, he'll leave?
-
Not from me. I've been praising him since late 2008. And as for his elevation in status and abilities, some might argue it's folk finally seeing what a minority have been going on about for a long time. AKA - it's not an exaggerated elevation, it's a fair one which he deserves.
-
No, I know you're not a tim and wouldn't ever stoop to such accusations - sorry if it seemed I was suggesting otherwise. I just wondered why you cared about the well-being of that little shit. If he rots away to Stuart Slater levels, great!

What a difference a month or two in football make.

Errr, wot? He did not agree to leave Rangers for our own good hahaha! He had a clause in his contract stating a certain value bid for him had to be accepted, and when MON bid said amount, Cuellar was away quicker than you can say 'Spanish call up'. Cuellar wants to play for Spain, and wanted to play in the EPL - he killed at least one of those birds with the move to Villa, and is looking to smash the other one too - something he could not do at Ibrox. And still can't, let's face it. If he *really* planned to stay at Ibrox for the rest of his career, why did he insist on having that clause inserted? tbh I agree, but you're the first person to ever turn around and say he did an Amoruso and imbue him with altruism. Amo really DID leave us to financially help us out. The fact we made money from Cuellar though was nothing to do with his desire to leave.
