You do make a good point - the Serbs had already been well beaten at 3-0 down then they lost Kezman (Who in fairness hadn't played especially well though) so quite right, we can't forget the Argies had a man advantage.

The Ukraine were the first European team to qualify in a far from easy qualification group. They are a very good side and have arguably the world's best striker in Sheva. To utterly dominate a team like Ukraine and make them look ordinary is no mean feat. Spain and the Czechs most certainly did. As has emerged, Argentina are looking this way. But obviously we can't just dismiss Spain and the Czechs. See how they both perform in their next games.

The first 45 went by in a heartbeat. Even the second 45 was very entertaining. The Argies put on one of the great world cup performances today and surely become the new out and out favourites to win the whole thing. However, don't discount Spain and the Czechs - they also put on world class performances. However, I do accept both sides would know they were in a game if they play the Argies.

Difference is the English media broadcast to the whole of the UK, whereas ours is only regional. They have a responsibility to be less partial and biased because they're catering for 4 nations, not 1. That's the difference.

No offence m8 but this is absolutely untrue. Kallstrom was arguably Sweden's best player.

Glen (I think it was) had the beating of Cole quite easily yesterday, and T&T broke through England's back line on quite a few occasions other than that. England's defence is good but not great. You're probably right here. I really hope they get Germany. I do. England's midfield and defence is quite strong but still very much breachable. England are very, very beatable.
-
Seriously? Neither Spain nor the Czechs impressed you? I am surprised.

Again, honestly, I totally disagree with your assessment of Tyldesley. I mean are we talking about the same guy here? Is there another one I don't know about

This is the reason so many Scots want bad fortune to befall the English team. The commentators and pundits are beyond embarrassing, and we love to hear the disappointment in their voices when the team messes up. I have nothing against the actual team tbh, they're all decent enough guys and no better or worse than any other group of footballers in the world cup. But their media is just awful.
-
England have zero chance of getting anywhere in this world cup playing as they are. They're struggling against weak teams.
-
I have to disagree strongly with this. Tyldesley is as partisan a commentator there is. He's so pro England it's nauseating. The only commentator ITV have I like is Peter Drury. He does mention English stuff from time to time, but he's incredibly articulate, doesn't sound horribly partisan, and describes the beautiful game in a manner befitting of it.

Best performances were the Czechs and the Spanish - both were clinical and polished, and smacked of sides capable of winning the whole thing. Argentina were good in an open game against an Ivory Coast team who really had a go. Germany were attacking in their opening match but rather impotent up front last night and had to rely on last minute goal from Neuville to get the points. The disappointments were Brazil, England and especially France. And to a lesser extent, Ukraine, although truth be told Spain were just far too good.

I still cannot help watching the match, but this has been really boring as I suspected it might. No interesting players on show, unfancied teams, and even commentators sounding utterly dejected at having to cover it.
-
No they're not. Germany Poland is on BBC.
-
I absolutely hate David Pleat. Not only does he talk absolute mince, but he's completely incapable of pronouncing player names correctly.

Done, thanks.

Mine to Danny please.

How does one go about getting this done?

Rosicky was the steal of the century for Arsenal. £7M for a £25M value player. The guy is absolutely rolls royce and one of the best in the world. As for the game, good match, my side, the Czechs, played brilliantly and frankly gave USA a footballing lesson. Pity about Koller - Lokvenc is no replacement. Here's also hoping Baros gets fitness.
-
Goalkeepers can last till their late 30s though - why did an average team like PSG feel the need to replace him with a newer model? He's only 33.
-
The problem I have with it is I absolutely loathe the bigotry the bastardised version represents, so even hearing 'Hullo Hullo' turns my stomach now. I just can't stand us to be singing about songs of hate against others, rather than singing songs in 'healthy' support of ourselves. If the lyrics were to be the proper ones, and that was to be really drummed in over time, then maybe. Maybe.

I've watched the lion's share of it. Missed one of Klose's goals for Germany when I was in the bog, and had the Iran Mexico first half on in the background till I realised it was a bloody good game and focused all of my attention on it. Watched all the rest though. Been a stunning world cup except that Poland Ecuador game.
