  1. Pity. Oh well
  2. Mexico were distinctly unfancied yet the Argies needed extra time to overcome them. If a team goes at the Argies with pace, like the Mexicans did, they can unsettle them - Argentina do not like being pressured. They play brilliantly going forward, and their defence is reasonably sound, but they don't like in yer face play from their opponents. Germany, if they watched Mexico's performance, can take stock from that and give Argies a hard time.
  3. Maybe he's a bit past his best right now, but you only have to go back a couple of years and he truly was creme de la creme. In saying all that, I'd take him at Ibrox in a flash.
  4. I think we're being linked with him just to wind Celtic up. Happens all the time. We signed Novo so they couldn't have him. They beat us to Kenny Miller. And Riorden. I don't think we're really in for him.
  5. I think the way Mexico pushed the Argies so close goes to show this WC is completely unpredictable. Truthfully - I couldn't begin to guess who will win the whole thing.
  6. If we end up with 11 Vikash's in our side I would not be unhappy.
  7. He's outstanding for the Czech Republic, and was brilliant for Sparta Praha - I remember his performance one night against Man Utd in the CL - absolutely world class.

    Namouchi

Guff for us, guff for Tunisia. I don't see how PLG, the master though he is, could get anything we haven't already seen from Namouchi. He's welcome to leave in my book.
  9. If we signed Vikash Dhorasoo I'd ... I'd ... That would be a staggering signing. He's an absolutely brilliant, brilliant, stupendously good player. He was outstanding at Milan yet never held down a regular place. I always rated him very highly indeed. If we got Vikash I would ... I would ... you get the idea.
  10. It was a very good game, one of the better ones of this WC - but Henry's moment of 'simulation' shall we say was no better than Rivaldo's outrageous attempt at the '98 world cup. Utter disgrace and he should be given a posthumus red card for it. He's completely gone down in my estimation - he was one of the better ones till that moment. And as for that comment by Steve Rider - well that's a shocking lack of respect for Portugal if it's true. Comments like that are why most Scots love to see England get the stuffing knocked out of them.
  11. Evening Times reports it as a sacking.
  12. He's an enigma is Ronaldo. He's a very gifted and tricky winger, but somehow he flatters to deceive some of the time. When he plays to his strengths and doesn't fanny about, he's arguably the best right winger in the world (Along with Poborsky imo) - but he has a bad habit of faffing about. He has great pace, superb skill, and his balance is very good. But he does need to work on that final ball as well as his bad habit of playing like it's a training ground.
  13. Just like Aimar. Admittely Pablo's still at the top level for Valencia but he never quite became what was expected of him. His performance against Rangers for me put him into the £30M bracket. True though, he's 29, where the hell has he been hiding all his career? The Barca reserves?
  14. It was the second leg of that tie which alerted me to how good he was. He was a mercurial master of the ball and some of his passing was frightening. Totally pulled the strings. Personally I don't think he's been incredible during the WC but he has been good - certainly indicative of a player worth more than £12.5M.
  15. Brazil showed little flashes of their real selves, but never had to step out of gear 1 to beat Ghana. Who, it must be said, really played well - and yet never managed to break Brazil down even under those circumstances. I get the feeling the Brazil players never felt they had to try against Ghana.
  16. Just to clarify something, yes, Juve, Lazio and Fio are at risk of being demoted to Serie B or C, but the likelihood is the worst that could happen to Milan is a points deficit for next season and a fine. But the ones in most danger are Juve. And curiously enough if they were demoted, then their CL place would surely be lost too? And if that happened...there's a very real possibility Celtic will have to play the qualifier after all....? Just going on something I remember reading a while ago.
  17. Curious aspect is it's 2 sides I don't care for but who are heavyweights capable of great football. Guess I just want to see a very good game of football. Couldn't be more neutral.
  18. It would be an improvement over the atrocity of last year, but it's still not as good as the year prior. It's alright. (Plus the red's dangerously close to orange)
  19. £12.5M? Are they serious? Apparently, say the Times, Inter want to buy Villareal's Argie midfielder for what, to me, is frankly an insulting value. The guy's worth easily £30M+ and if they got him for 12.5 it would be daylight robbery. That is all.
  20. Cheers Frankie.
  21. I am pleased to say I've watched every single game. Sure, I've missed bits here and there, and in certain cases not fully focused my attention on one or two games, but by and large I've followed the lot. No football on Wednesday or Thursday? Well, Wednesday's actually ok as I have plans, but Thursday? What will I do
  22. I am staggered no one's even mentioned the outstanding Tevez.
  23. Elaborate on these rules would you... I'm unclear on what the ramifications are.
  24. Can't say these would be earth-shattering signings by any stretch of the imagination. Actually reminds me of the dark days under Eck where the likes of Alan Wright would come in for trial. But, in PLG we have faith, and if he rates these guys, then I'm no one to argue.
  25. From what I heard of his dealings with the youth, this is a good move. The word 'bully' was mooted more than once.
