After watching their feeble performance last night my expectations have risen greatly! Their defence is abysmal too. How they managed to get through last night is a mystery and a travesty. I'm convinced they will be well and truly humbled/horsed in the group stages. I take back everything I said about our visit to the piggery. They are nothing to be apprehensive about and I genuinely hope the sheep have a go at them this weekend. If they do I fancy there to be some livestock festivities up there after! Sales of wellies will be on a high for August??lol

The Summer Transfer Rumour Round-up Thread

Transfer deadline day is closing fast, how old is SDW?? lol. -
I hope not Pete? Those of us sitting in Broamloan have already paid the premium for the two games at home.

Penetrating parked buses - Substitution impact v Motherwell
cooponthewing replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It was interesting that McGhee said he felt they had a better chance v us as mhanks has signed great players. Subconsciously that would have been his attitude with his players pre Mhank match in cup when they got gubbed 5-0. In essence opening up at the farmyard and having a go as in his mind it was a "free bet". He wasn't going to lose sleep over losing, especially to his beloved c****c! In contrast his attitude v us couldn't have been more different. Along with the help of McDonald(another former Mhank employee) making sure the he and his team done everything they could to stop us playing and minimise as best they could our attacking options. He will wax lyrical that he goes into every game telling his side to give 100%. Weather it's consciously or subconsciously he dosnt, nobody does, we prioritise and save our energy for when most needed. It's very evident we can see where his favour lies. -
Watching through the first half, and our lack of penetration, i was looking for waggy running. He is definitely missed as he creates space for himself and others in the final third. I'm still not convinced Rossiter and Barton will ever be able to play in the same side and i would take Rossiter over Barton to start. We were very tight especially in the first half and i felt Halliday was largely ineffective. I also found myself looking for Holt so i guess we miss Waggy and Holt more than we thought we would, the latter certainly as Waggy was always going to be a big loss. Once everyone is fit again we will be back to the same point, back to square one, where MW does not know what his strongest starting eleven is and the formation?, Its a nice problem to have but within that it does provide some other difficult challenges??

"Mad Bob" very good db, that's gave me a giggle:thup:

League matches, yes, we have the Betfred QF in there too though..It balances out in December when we have six league matches and four at home.

I found myself pondering similar on Saturday night re how we would perform at tynecastle and up at the sheep etc? At first I was quite worried how we would cope however that entered my mind, Frankie's point re the opposition opening up. I actually feel that at those two venues in particular we will find we have a lot more space as they will come at us looking for a win. Don't hold your breath at the farmyard, I'm anything but hopeful I'm afraid, although I think we will definitely score their. On Saturday's support, I write in a previous post how disappointing it was to see people's reaction. The booing at half time was disgraceful and the usual "mass evacuation" post 75mins(it's 1-1 not 5-0) as I've said on numerous occasions it's perfectly understandable if you have kids or infirm yourself, you don't want to be stuck it the end. I just don't understand why you would leave early and not support your team till the end? That guy I heard on the radio that left at half time?? Wow??? If you don't want to support your team, fine, give your seat to someone who does.

Golden globe winner no less, and fit!! Maybe it's his missus lol?

Tom Miller definitely said 99 yesterday. I watched on the highlights db posted from Russian Rangers.

We won't all agree Cammy but yes mate, I believe we should be challenging to win the title. I also believe we have the squad and talent, we are lacking a bit of belief in the team that I hope strengthening the defence will provide. We are one of the two biggest clubs in Scotland, accepting second best is, for me, never acceptable. If we were one of the biggest clubs in any other country I would expect their fans to ask for trophys and titles too. I'm not saying we will alway achieve it and if we do not manage it I would have to be a fool to not understand why, and what we have been through. I will dust myself down as will everyone else and imo we would go again and I would still expect to be adding to our list of honours.

Some of us are bit uptight tonight lol. Relax ffs it's a forum where people voice there opinions, concerns and hopes for the club. Being honest, there isn't a comment from anyone that does not have some valid basis to it, no matter if you agree or not. Personally I feel we are doing ok, we havnt played well, we have no fluidity and there could be a number of reasons for that. We won't, playing the way we are, get anywhere near the mhanky mob and will probably finish second, maybe third?. That may be acceptable for some, and if thats ok for them fair enough. In the 80s when we were finishing 3/4th I never wanted or contemplated anything except first. Rangers supporters strive for excellence, we never set out with the intention of accepting second best. Should that happen we learn and come back stronger but it's never good enough being anything but first. My biggest fear at the moment is we look very weak at the back and are struggling to create chances. I honestly feel the side would gain great confidence should our defence strengthen. There are a lot of positives too, however me personally, first half Saturday was the worst I have seen us in a long long time. I'm sure we will improve in weeks to come. My opinion of what may happen at the farmyard is not good, but let's take care ok Killie next Friday first.

There wasn't anyone in BR concourse either? I guess it's not possible to have collection boxes everywhere though. Hopefully they had a good day and give some feedback on it. Worthy cause in these difficult times.

I can't disagree with anything that you have said Tannoch. Make no mistake if it's those two at the back at the piggery we will be embarrassed. The only thing I would disagree on is that maybe MW dosnt see hill fitting with D+D?? Although as you say if we are pinning our hopes on crooks it's hardly a confident place to be?

It wasn't until watching dbs highlights that I noticed just how empty it was at full time? IMHO it is so disheartening when folk start walking out on 75mins, by 85 the place looks 1/3 empty. I know we go on about it, and unless you are infirm or have kids I genuinely don't understand. Those who do it imo let us all down, especially going into the dying minutes of an important game at 1-1. I think it was mentioned by GS in another post but a lot of them will be the same ones booing the side off at HT! I actually heard a guy on the Snyde phone in on a he way back last night say he left at half time as we were so bad! If that guy is reading this, if you can't support your team, don't come back, give your seat to a real supporter!.

Russian Rangers to the rescue again lol. Cheers DB!

I didn't see anyone either?? I arrived at 14.30pm and walked from edminston drive round Copland and SJ stands to BR and was hoping to see folk collecting? I have to be honest as I went round by the Rangers shop i didn't look at the shop so wouldn't have seen anyone. I was looking for folk with buckets etc so I could put a few quid in(wasn't bringing food with me).

He has improved significantly this year. He is vastly quicker getting down and shot stopping. He has lost weight too. Don't think it's any coincidence that all this is happening now that he knows he had serious competition from Gilks.
-
Its not for me either mate. I know we were all pissed off with the performance and it was abysmal in the first half but booing the side off is not constructive. I think bears were very frustrated, its the worst I have seen us going forward for a long long time. Anyway, we were awful and still got the three points, lets hope we take confidence and improve from now on. What I would say is the teams reaction after the whistle was brilliant, where I sit in Broamloan Wes and Kiernan were hugging and screaming in delight at the final whistle, seen Rossiter and Barton doing that too, all that along with the celebrations from all after the goal shows a lot of team unity fighting and pulling in the same direction. Great signs:thup:
-
Its hard to summarise it all up JFK, we were way way to deep in the first half with no forward penetration, I guess that was the tale of today. You are spot on that if we can still pick up 7/9 points while playing far from our best that is a sign of a good side and bodes well for the future. I'm still not sure if Barton and Rossiter can work in the same side? Barton was playing further forward in the first half trying to link up and it wasn't working, Rossiter was playing the holding role. We are still geling and I appreciate that, the two first half performances against Hamilton and today v Motherwell were appalling though. Again as you quite rightly say, we still came away with a win and a last minute win, its could certainly be argued the team should take a lot from the win today and move forward as a collective unit with much more confidence:rfc:
-
I appreciate we are all glad to get the three points, however we are very poor and edgy in many areas. We could easily have been 2-0 down had it not been for a wonder save from Wes. I have been trying to put my finger in what's wrong with other areas of the team. I honestly feel that through the team there is a collective fear of the quality of our two CH. They look like they have no confidence in them and it's affecting the performance. Imo that's a factor. However today they were OK mainly due to Rossiter covering their arse a lot. There was no imagination in the front third, Barrie looked out of touch as did Halliday again imo. The first half was dreadful and hopefully when Waggy is back and Garner play that will help our problems regarding possession and lack of penetration in the final third. We were slow and looked all at sea in the first half. When Nico came on I feel he made a big difference and we began to create chances. Again I felt MOH was a waste of a substitute?? Make no mistake we got out of jail today and we are not playing well. If we continue we will drop many more points as we still don't look like we are good enough to challenge the unwashed. It was much better in the second half and hopefully I will be right re the team attitude with the CHs. Confidence will return if we can get our hands on a reliable quality CH and build reliability at the back. Having said all that, 7pts out of 9 is a great start and we are top of the league, we have more than ridden our luck though and it won't last forever. Top of the league however, and it could have been a lot worse.

BBC - Figures, facts and stats about Scottish football.
cooponthewing replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
They would re-write history if we gave them half a chance GS. We know the truth but it's how others who are looking from the outside not in possession of the full facts would perceive it. Many people from overseas still click on and reference the BBC information services. That's why they peddle this spurious pish.
