Member Member #9 Joined: 31 August 2004 I knew the media would give Lennon a few months grace before coming after him. The fact he had a good start in the league has brought this forward. What we have is a smear campaign against Celtic and Lennon in particular. Over the last two weeks, when faced with two of the most ridiculous and inconsistent decisions that it's possible to dream up, Lennon did no more than any other manager would have done in the same circumstances. There is not a single manager is Scottish football who has not questioned referees decisions. Not one. Yet you'd be hard pressed to find two such appalling and embarrassing decisions going against any team in successive weeks. The media talk of a witchhunt of referees. All I see is a circling of the wagons by the usual parties. A whitewashing SFA, current and ex-whistlers, a media spin that would have masters of propaganda from Goebbels to Mandelson applauding in appreciation, and a sage and mellow turn from puppet master the Great Waldo, who magnanimously accepts his portion of blame (to the victor, not only the spoils but control over the writing of history eh?). There is certainly a witchhunt going on but it's not against referees. Only jim jefferies, as far as I've seen, has offered any kind of backing to Lennon by telling refs to grow up. The rest o Scottish football should be ashamed of itself. Where is tony higgins and Fraser wishart now or do their union not stick up for managers under siege from a relentless media? And all they have to say is "paranoid" as if all of Celtic's legitimate issues are figments of the imagination. Those whom the Huns wish to destroy, first they make mad. Except now, the case against is burgeoning at the seams. The Internet means that wrongdoing can't be locked away in a dusty drawer. It can be seen and analysed and the dinosaurs of radio phone ins and tabloid hot air can only flounder as their eminent posistions as opinion makers goes down the stank. The challenge is staring them in the face and they have blinked. Now they are shouting their empty threats and bullscheidt, like a fat, past it boxer at the weigh-in. Celtic have faced institutional bias and bigotry before and beat it. This will be the biggest fight because the very future of the huns is at stake and reliant on all parties pulling together. Anyone who think "all wee have to do is be better than them" is a bit green behind the ears, pardon the pun. Best way to deal with them is to beat them on the park first and foremost. BUT… We should be making as much loud noise about these ‘mistakes’ as often as possible. I don't think there's a team anywhere got the run of decisions they got: Hibs (a): Awarded penalty on stroke of HT with scores at 1-1; Hibs player sent off in second half for contesting Huns’ third goal. MITB: Dallas Aberdeen (h): Tight match poised at 1-0 to the pigs; Huns awarded penalty inside last 15 minutes, Aberdeen player sent off. MITB: Underhill Livingston (a): Huns toiling at 0-0; Livingston reduced to ten men; Huns awarded a penalty shortly afterwards. Huns win 2-0. MITB: Clark Motherwell (h): Motherwell reduced to ten men at 2-0 to the Huns. MITB: Freeland Dundee (a): Dundee have Khizanishvili sent off at 1-0 to the Scum in a tight game. Huns win 3-0. MITB: Fyfe Aberdeen (a): Aberdeen go 2-1 ahead with 15 minutes to go; Huns awarded penalty within five minutes of going behind. MITB: Dougal Hearts (a): Huns leading 1-0 in a tight game; Hearts have Maybury sent off on 58 minutes; Huns awarded penalty with 12 munutes left to make it 2-0, eventually winning 4-0. MITB: Dallas Livingston (h): Huns leading 4-2 , having been 4-0 ahead; Livingston have Bollan sent off three minutes after Livi’s second goal. Huns scrape home 4-3. MITB: Dougie Stoat-the-ba’ McDonald Thistle (a): Huns trailing 1-0 for most of the match, equalise with 20 minutes left; Gerry Britton sent off (later rescinded on appeal); Huns score seven minutes later to win 2-1. MITB: Underhill Dundee (a): Huns trailing 2-1, having already missed two penalties, are awarded a third with five minutes to go. Game finishes2-2. MITB: Rowbotham (baldy cheating bastard). Did any of expect any different, now it's up to Celtic to nail these hallions. They've gave us enough rope to hang them with this time. In my opinion the boards first directive is to protect the good name of Celtic Football Club, it's fans and it players, managers and staff both past and present. The board have time and time again failed in this, from allowing the Hun hordes to racially abuse the fans to allowing them to attempt to blacken Big Jocks name all the while seeming silent and oblivious. They continuously allow the skip rat Scottish media to drag our clubs name through the mud no more so than this week and all the while seeming silent. Well now is the time to redeem themselves they MUST go to town with this, they must leave no avenue unexplored in nailing these cheats and conmen. This one issue is an insult to Fans, Club, Playing and Management staff. If they do nothing, each and everyone of them must be sent out the door with their heads hung in shame. Come on Celtic tear these cretins a new one and do it for every single one of us. 4. Liverpool are rumoured to be lining up a January move for Blackpool star Charlie Adam. Roy Hodgson has reportedly been scouting the former Rangers man this season and after the 24 year old put in a great performance to help his side to a famous win at Anfield the chances of a bid from the Merseyside club have significantly increased. The attacking midfielder has also apparently fallen out with his Bloomfield Road club over unpaid bonuses which could give the talented Scot the excuse he needs to leave the club he helped to a surprise promotion to the Premier League last season. Charlie Adam clearly realises that he has become the focal point for Ian Hollowayâs side but also knows that the chance of a move to high profile club such as Liverpool does not come around very often and his unhappiness with the clubâs attitude towards a £20k owed payment could spark his desire to leave the club. Roy Hodgson has been looking for ways to add creativity to his brittle side and could well feel that the in form Dundee born midfielder could be just the man for the job. Adam netted 17 goals last season and helped create just as many and his vision and flair appear to have led to his being placed on the under fire Liverpool bossâs transfer wish-list. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2010/10/28/liverpool-boss-keen-on-move-for-9m-rated-blackpool-midfielder-charlie-adam/
  5. Declares Kenny Clark........... NOT much has been left unsaid in the on-going row about referees but Kenny Clark kept up a stiff defence of his former colleagues yesterday, returning the focus on to Celtic and also managers who use their criticism of officials as a "smokescreen". Clark, who retired from refereeing at the end of the 2007-08 season, accused Celtic of having compromised the integrity of the Scottish Premier League by making repeated requests for decisions to be clarified in the aftermath of matches involving the Parkhead club. Yesterday, after helping make the draw for the third round of the Scottish Cup, he agreed that recent events have increased the pressure on officials working at Celtic matches. He also reported on the 'slipping morale' among referees, some of whom, Clark revealed, are thinking of following Steven Craven into premature retirement. The Parkhead club asked for "clarification" after Dougie McDonald overturned his own decision to award Neil Lennon's side a penalty against Dundee United a week past Sunday, after consultation with Craven, his far-side assistant. Craven has since resigned and McDonald is the subject of an internal investigation led by Stewart Regan, the new chief executive of the Scottish Football Association. Its findings are expected to be delivered today, following another week where the spotlight has fallen on referees. Willie Collum endured a fraught afternoon during Sunday's Old Firm game and was believed by many to have erred when awarding Rangers a penalty, from which the Ibrox side scored a third goal in the 3-1 win. He was later subjected to incidents of intimidation at his home in Lanarkshire. "There is no question what the clubs do stokes the fires of the fanatics," said Clark, "And they don't need to be wound up any more." He blamed managers for using the perceived mistakes of officials for their own ends. "It avoids them having to answer difficult questions about their players' performance or their own tactics," Clark said, with Celtic's questioning of decisions in letters to the SFA a particular source of concern. "If a decision is given in Celtic's favour, people will inevitably say that's because Celtic have been making complaints," Clark said. "If a decision is made against Celtic, again they will say that's because of the complaints Celtic have been making. It puts the match officials into something of a no-win situation." Clark is no stranger to controversy having been the referee on duty when Duncan Ferguson head-butted Jock McStay during a game between Rangers and Raith Rovers in 1994. He did not even book the then Ibrox striker, who ended up in jail as a result of his actions that afternoon. Clark insisted he did not see the incident. He is well aware, then, of the importance attached to referees' decisions but pleaded for officials to be treated in the same manner as players, whose mistakes are not pored over to the same extent. "It's a sorry state of affairs when clubs are wanting explanations about individual decisions," he said. "It would be a strange world indeed if a referee was to ask a club why their star striker missed a penalty. Could he talk us through it? The striker wouldn't be able to explain how he did it. And by the same token if I was asked as a referee in a post-match interview why I didn't give a penalty, my answer would be that I thought it wasn't a penalty." Despite all this, Clark would not discourage his own sons from taking up the whistle trade. He would, however, make them aware of the "realities of the situation", he said. "What I should say is that I still think the positives of being involved in refereeing for people who are passionate about football far outweigh the negatives," Clark added. "I had my share of bad times, controversies and being shouted at in the street. But I still think the life I led as a referee, sharing a park with fantastic players who I would have paid to watch, was a good life." However, Clark continues to be angered by managers who wade into referees. He was especially exercised to hear that Hearts manager Jim Jefferies had summed up the recent controversy by advising referees to toughen up. It was "a silly remark", Clark said. "I could do a whole speech about Jim Jefferies or (former Hibs manager] John Hughes," he added. "But I do find it astonishing that Jim is saying referees need to toughen up and accept that they are going to be called names or whatever. Jim is the one who was carping in the media only a few weeks ago that a referee had had the temerity to speak to him like a schoolchild. "I think everyone knows that Jim behaved like a schoolchild that day and was completely in the wrong, because he had been given wrong information - as I understand it - by a member of his own staff. Nonetheless, he was the one who was in the wrong and he was the one who ended up having to give a public, although somewhat grudging, apology about his conduct and his remarks."

  19. I'd like to see WS demanding that the Rangers players do not argue with the refs' decisions, appeal for every ball yes,but walk away when any decision is given. I also think every manager of every team should do the same, because of the BHEASTS paranoia the whole of Europe is looking at the SPL and laughing. Every manager of every team can do a lot more to ease the pressure the match officials are under by coaching/demanding that their players show more respect to the match officials,IMO. The officials do seem to be getting worse, but if I really believed that refs and assistant refs were cheating I'd turn my back on the game as there would be no point turning up watching. There is a big difference between being a poor standard of referee and cheating. It really is getting way too OTT with the disecting of every incident/issue,thanks to the BHEASTS continual inTIMidation of the SFA and their match officials.
  20. WTF is wrong with Webster now????,is this guy taking the piss?
  21. Hey Lemon, what was wrong with the penalty???,soft yes but not a dive like yours eh!!!
  22. Borrowed from another forum:- As all of you are aware, Celtic FC has now written to the SFA twice in two weeks demanding answers on why refereeing decisions have went against our club. The first instance at Tannadice has now seen the match linesman, Steven Craven, resign from his position with the SFA after he did not want any part in the ‘cover up’ which followed the match. It was reported that he informed the match referee, Dougie McDonald, that a penalty that he had given just moments earlier, was in fact not a penalty. It has since been reported that Steven Craven did not have any involvement in the change of decision. We await answers from the SFA on what really happened. I personally am not holding my breath. Will we ever find out the real conversation between Dougie McDonald and Hugh Dallas? Will we ever find out who else within the offices of the SFA was aware of this? Will we ever find out the truth? Probably not. The second instance occurred at Celtic Park in our match against Rangers. The referee, Willie Collum, awarded a penalty to Rangers. Television replays show firstly that he was deceived by Kirk Broadfoot. They also show that he did not have a clear view of the incident, and was in no position to award the penalty kick. This penalty kick effectively handed the match to Rangers who were already leading 2-1 at the time. Celtic FC find themselves in an extremely difficult position. We believe that there is a clear bias in this country which favours Rangers FC. Both the Board of Directors and the Celtic support believe this. The media laugh this off claiming that the Celtic supporters are paranoid. They tell us how these things ‘even themselves out over the course of the season’. They laugh at us, they mock us. Are we laughing? No. What can Celtic FC do to combat this issue? I have spoken with scores of supporters who demand the board ‘go for the throat’ of the SFA – unfortunately none of the supporters can give us a flawless way of doing this. We only have one chance to win the right for equality. Should Celtic gather enough video evidence to show that we have been the victim of bias – it can be blamed on human error, and it would be extremely difficult to prove in a court of law. There have been several incidents of corruption throughout world football. Whether it be players involved in match fixing or referees taking bribes. What we are dealing with here is much bigger than that. We believe that we are the victim of prejudice from our own Football Association. We believe that from top to bottom we do not receive a ‘fair crack of the whip’. As Celtic fans, what can we do to help our club highlight the situation? I believe that the only way we can start to get people to sit up and take notice is by starting to boycott away matches. Ideally this would start with St. Johnstone in the Co-operative Insurance Cup this evening. This is not possible as Celtic fans have already bought every ticket for the North Stand, people have already made and paid for travel arrangements and it is too short notice to be effective. Our supporters have also already paid for and in some cases received match tickets for the following matches: St. Johnstone 30/10/2010; Hearts 10/11/2010; St. Mirren 14/11/2010; Hamilton Academical 18/12/2010. The next away match that we play in that ticket distribution has not started yet is Aberdeen on 04/12/2010. The tickets for this match will be distributed directly to Celtic supporters from Celtic FC by way of offer letter. Aberdeen away is one of the highlights of the season for many fans including myself. The Celtic support always finds itself in good voice up at Pittodrie, and we usually get a good game. This is one of the more ‘attractive’ fixtures that we play in throughout the season. I believe that our allocation could sell out two or three times over if more tickets were made available to us. I feel that by boycotting this fixture – it would make a statement to the chairmen of the other SPL clubs that they would be next. Our allocation is between 3,000 to 4,000 tickets. We have not yet been made aware of the price of tickets yet for this fixture. If the tickets are priced at Ã?£24 and no Celtic fans attended the match, Aberdeen would lose in the region of Ã?£72,000 to Ã?£96,000 in ticket sales alone. They would also lose out on a substantial sum generated by selling overpriced food to our supporters within the stadium. Scottish Football finds itself in a dire financial state. Celtic are in a rare position of being financially stable, even though we have lost out on tens of millions of pounds through failure to qualify for the Champions League, with a ‘little bit of help’ from the SFA. Most of the other clubs rely on the huge travelling supports of Celtic and Rangers filling there stadium when we play them at their own grounds to keep afloat. We, the travelling support, must do our bit to highlight this ongoing situation. As most of us are aware, it’s not a recent problem – but I don’t feel that listing incident after incident is going to change anyone’s mind of whether or not they would or would not support a boycott. Having travelled to over 90% of Celtics fixtures over the last decade, I do not want to boycott. I love travelling to watch Celtic. I love cheering on the team. But what other options do we have? I ask you, the heart and soul of Celtic FC, to boycott this fixture. I ask that you pass this message onto any of your friends that travel to away fixtures. I ask you to print it off and distribute it on your supporters busses. I understand that many of our ‘hardcore’ fans are against the idea of boycotting – they want to give them team their all to help them onto victory wherever we play. Having been the same man myself, due to recent incidents, I can now only view this as short sightedness. We cannot continue to be denied the opportunity to receive fair treatment. People must open they’re eyes and realise that money talks. Let’s hit the other SPL clubs where it hurts, in the pocket. Boycott Aberdeen on 04/12/2010. Then we can target another fixture (Kilmarnock on 29/01/2011?), and another until things change. Yours in Celtic,
