  5. It does seem very strange timing though, how can Boyds' attitude get any worse than what we already know ?, something not quite right about this, he has done something else if it is true he has had a bust up

  7. Aye,maybe somebody with a bit more inside info,Frankie, can shed some light on it, but I heard he was asked to go out on loan but refused, that of course could be a pile of shite
  8. Where is Miller going to play if we have Naismith & Lafferty ?, although it does look like a good partnership, I doubt very much we will see it against the MOPES
  9. That's what I was thinking
  10. Does the exclusion of Novo mean anything regarding the cup final, what I mean is you would have thought he would have got a run out today if he was going to be included on Sunday no?
  11. By Andrew Dickson STEVEN NAISMITH admits he'd love a striking role against Celtic this weekend after his double for the reserves against Hibernian today. The former Kilmarnock hitman scored twice in the first half at Murray Park as Rangers won 2-1 against their Edinburgh opponents. Steven NaismithNaismith has made the majority of his appearances for the Light Blues first team on the left side of midfield. But while he enjoys that role, he's keen to feature up front too and hopes he has given Walter Smith a timely reminder of what he can do there ahead of Sunday's League Cup final. Naismith said: "Getting two goals is always nice. I grew up playing as a forward and it was good to get a run up there today. "That's my natural position and while I like it when the manager plays me on the left, it was enjoyable to get up front. "Hopefully I was able to show I've still got a knack for getting goals and that the gaffer considers that ahead of the final. "I know how hard it would be to break into the team in that area because Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd have both done really well there. "Chances are limited and when Kyle Lafferty came in at the weekend, he impressed too and made it even harder to get in. "I just have to do everything I can. It's my aim to get an opportunity up front and I would like to play there." Tommy WilsonCoach Tommy Wilson was pleased with a result which keeps Gers' hopes of catching Celtic at the top of the SPL table alive. The second Old Firm second string meeting of the season - to be played at Ibrox - has been confirmed for April 28 at 2pm. And with a number of games to play before then, Wilson is happy his men are doing everything in their power to set up a grandstand finish to the season. He said: "Overall, I was pleased. I thought we were superb in the first half and carried that on to the second, although a wee bit of slackness cost us a goal. "We are still in the title race and it's between us and Celtic now for the league. They're out in front but we are chasing hard on their heels. "If we had turned a few more draws into victories, we'd be there or thereabouts but we're still pushing hard. "Steven is a bright player who is buzzing and full of energy. I know what he is capable of and I'm delighted with the goals he scored."
  12. STEVEN NAISMITH gave Walter Smith something to think about this afternoon by scoring a first-half double as Rangers' Reserves beat Hibs 2-1 at Murray Park. Steven NaismithWith a League Cup final against Celtic only days away Naisy showed the gaffer his desire to be involved with an impressive 90-minute display. The 22-year-old, playing in his preferred role through the middle, was lively from the kick-off and bagged the opening goal on 24 minutes. A John Fleck corner was nodded down by Christian Dailly and his teammate was there to hammer the ball home past Andrew McNeil. The second goal arrived just seconds before the half-time interval. Fleck again delivered a teasing cross from a corner and Naismith stepped away from his marker before heading the ball in to the net. Tommy Wilson admitted after the final whistle that slackness crept in to his side's play after the restart and DaMarcus Beasley was guily of missing a snip when he was one-on-one with McNeil. The American got the ball tangled between his legs before it was cleared to safety. John Fleck A third goal at this stage would have killed off Hibs' chances but and they were to pull a goal back on 70 minutes. Substitute Damon Gray played in Jack Wilson who angled a tidy finish beyond Neil Alexander. In the dying stages the impressive Mo Edu skipped past three men before rifling a low shot across McNeil. Unfortunately it went inches wide of target but it showed the midfielder's undoubted athletiscism and his potential at pushing forward in to the last third. In the end Rangers' deservedly secured three points and the fixture proved an excellent run-out for first-team players such as Beasley, Fleck, Hemdani and Steven Smith. It was Naismith, however, that really threw his name in the hat for Sunday's final and he clearly relished being utilised as a striker again. RANGERS: Alexander; Lowing, Webster (Harvey), Dailly, S. Smith; Lennon, Hemdani (Wylde), Edu, Beasley (Little); Fleck, Naismith Subs Not Used: Gallacher, Kinniburgh

  17. by Lindsay Herron KIRK BROADFOOT'S dreams of facing Celtic in the Co-operative Insurance Cup Final at Hampden on Sunday could be wrecked by a foot injury. The former St Mirren defender has ligament damage and the Murray Park medical team are unsure if it will clear in time, Nacho Novo gets treatmentThe good news for Rangers is that Madjid Bougherra has been passed fit despite taking a calf knock in last Sunday's 5-1 Homecoming Scottish Cup win over Hamilton. And manager Walter Smith has revealed that Nacho Novo has a chance of making the squad as the Spanish striker battles back from an ankle injury suffered at the end of January. Smith said today: "Madjid will be fine. Nacho has a chance for the final and we hope he will be available but we will know more later in the week. "Kirk has ligament damage in his foot and, again, we hope he will be fit but we will have to wait until later in the week." Broadfoot missed the Hamilton game last Sunday and in his absence Stevie Whittaker produced a good performance at right back topped by a terrific solo goal. This might have nailed his place for the Final - even if Broadfoot recovers - although Smith was not giving anything away. He said: "Steven did well on Sunday and he was more like himself. He was doing the type of things we know he is capable of. "When players come in to the team we always want them to try to force us into making decisions and Steven has made a case for the Final. "The same goes for Kyle Lafferty who played well at the weekend."
  18. Everybody can see what the problem is with Scottish football, why we don't use ex players like De Boer,Prso etc to help out with coaching/scouting young guys I'll never know, especially @ Rangers
  19. Mind your video camera if you're going Gaz
  20. It's free with your season ticket I believe
  21. I think he is a fan, maybe not as passionate, although it hardly helps him much associating himself with the big bad racist/bigoted Rangers these days
  22. RANGERS' Reserves are back in action this afternoon when the take on Hibs at Murray Park and several first-team stars will be out to impress ahead of Sunday's League Cup final. Coach Tommy Wilson will be able to field a strong starting eleven for today's SPL clash and Hibs are likely to do the same with Mixu Paatelainen's team not in action last weekend. Neil Alexander, Christian Dailly, Andy Webster, Steven Naismith, Brahim Hemdani, Mo Edu, John Fleck, Steven Naismith and DaMarcus Beasley are all available for selection for Gers. Today's game will kick-off at 1pm.
  23. It's strange that this will be Smiths' first Old Firm final ????, also Chesney ??, I think
  24. “The goal should have stood — it looked horrendous later. In 26 years of refereeing, nothing like that had ever happened to me. It was something I really regretted but these things can happen. A referee can always make mistakes and you just hope and pray they don’t have a significant outcome on the game.” That Ibrox afternoon, McCurry says, taught him once and for all that television technology should be introduced to football. “It took us four minutes to sort it all out — wrongly — at Ibrox, yet within 30 seconds of the incident it had been shown twice on television,” he says. “We can put satellites into space and we can transfer a heart from one person to another, but we won’t use technology in football. It doesn’t make any sense. All you would have needed that day and on others like it was a fourth official looking at a monitor. There and then he could have told me, ‘Mike, that goal was good.’ ” As the pressure piled on McCurry, and his comeuppance at the hands of the SFA grew imminent, other nasty aspects caused him fleeting moments of depression. In particular, Levein’s accusation of dishonesty hurt him deeply. Related Links * Penalty row rumbles on as Jefferies fumes * Why is the Reverend getting so much stick? * ‘It was so bad I felt like just walking off’ “Dundee United were threatening to sue me for Ã?£175,000 because they said they couldn’t get into Europe because of my decisions,” he says. “And you say to yourself, if that is where we are moving, we need a sea-change in refereeing. “The implication was not that I had made a bad decision, but that I was a cheat. And since then there have been a number of refereeing decisions which have been called similarly — not poor decisions, but where refs have been called ‘cheats’. It is awful. It is complete nonsense to say that any decision I or any other ref makes is born of a lack of integrity. “I made a big mistake at Ibrox last season and I may still be paying for it. I’ve not refereed a Rangers or Dundee United game since, and that is the best part of a year now. “Maybe the SFA are trying to be kind to me by keeping me out of the spotlight, but I think there is more to it than that. The profile of games I’m doing is certainly much lower.” On top of all this trauma, McCurry has had to endure two other public humiliations: a fatuous Sunday tabloid “sting” in which he was shown to be leading the singing in church to Tina Turner’s The Best, a popular Rangers anthem, then his alleged affair. Both meant further bouts of very public anguish, which may or may not have added to his new, “unclean” status within the SFA. The so-called “singing controversy” was absurd to anyone who has any knowledge of evangelical church life and McCurry, mercifully, saw the funny side of it. “We use a puppet ministry team from England who do parodies of well-known songs. They basically turn well-known pop songs into what I call ‘God songs’,” he explains. “One of the ones they use is the Tina Turner song. “Any church that has a children’s puppet team will use that song in worship. We have loads of kids in our church and they don’t come here to sing Guide Me Oh Thou Great Jehova, so we tend to use more contemporary music. “The newspaper story didn’t really bother me — it just depends on how informed people are about church life. I think most people knew it was a lot of nonsense. I actually thought it read more like an April Fool’s in the paper, it was so silly.” McCurry admits that his worst moment of all was the subsequent allegation of an affair with a young woman. He flatly denies the charge and says that he and his wife, Linda, have a rock-solid marriage based upon their shared faith. Yet the Scottish tabloids once again had a field day with him. “I’ve never had an opportunity to give my side of that story, and I can’t, due to pastoral confidentiality,” McCurry says. “To do that, I would have to breach the confidences about the private lives of others, which I can’t do as a Christian minister. However wronged I feel I was, I just have to accept that. “What I will say is that, after it all blew up, I stepped down while my church conducted a full and independent inquiry into it, and once all the facts were known, my congregation voted by over 90 per cent that I should stay in my job. “But as a minister sometimes it is difficult to protect yourself. In pastoral situations you can be in private with someone — both men and women — where, in reality, any kind of story can be made up. “There are a lot of vulnerable people around, and if the church can’t be a safe place for them, then Lord help us all. We all have emotional and spiritual needs, and these days I include myself among them!”
