STEVIE LENNON has given himself a two-year target to become a top team player with Rangers. Lennon, who will be 20 in January, has just signed a new deal that ties him to the club until 2010. Steven LennonHe feels - and it is widely felt - that he could do a job with another SPL side but he is determined to make the breakthrough at Rangers. Others have moved on - like Steven McLean, Ross McCormack and Bob Davidson - but Lennon is convinced he can make the grade. The reserve striker said: "You can't be too impatient when you are at a massive club like Rangers. "I could probably go out and play for another club in the SPL but it's Rangers I want to be at. "I'm willing to wait for my chance and I'm sure it will come. "I'm delighted to sign a new deal. It keeps me here for another two years and gives me the chance to continue my development and hopefully make the step up from the reserves to the first team.Steven Lennon "I'm happy with the way things are going right now and I just have to wait for my chance. "I have had the chance to play in a few matches, sit on the bench and also train with the first team which is fantastic. "Simply working with guys like Davie Weir, Lee McCulloch and Barry Ferguson is terrific and you learn so much. Their experience rubs off. "As a young boy you have to keep things simple when you're round there but at the same time you want to try to get yourself noticed so you have to try a few things." Lennon is one of a number of young players who look to have the potential to go all the way at Ibrox. Dean Furman, Ross Perry, Rory Loy and Alan Lowing have all signed new deals recently while there are high hopes for Andy Shinnie, Paul Emslie and John Fleck. He was a key player in the under-19 side that won a League and Cup double last season and is now developing further with Ian Durrant and Tommy Wilson in the reserve team. He added: "The manager is always looking to strengthen up front but hopefully he can give me a few chances to come off the bench in the coming months and I can start scoring goals for the first team."

Time for Rangers to break BJK silence It truly beggars belief that a sizable and unfortunate section of the Rangers support have come up with a regular terracing song about a child sex abuse case. Today at Falkirk, where Rangers are due to play, will doubtless be the latest Scottish ground to be polluted with this dirge. Some of you may be aware by now of this excruciating embarrassment for Rangers known as the “Big Jock Knew” campaign (henceforth BJK). The chant, which has been fomented among the usual victims on a fans’ website and by certain Rangers supporters groups leaders, refers to a Celtic Boys Club controversy of more than 30 years ago. The episode shocked Jock Stein, then the Celtic manager, when he was informed about it. Yet this Rangers song, as factually flawed and repellent as it is, tries to infer that Stein either condoned or attempted to cover-up the incident, which is nonsense. I have to admit I never thought I’d ever see the day when Scottish football supporters sang a song about a child sex abuse case, yet Rangers have duly delivered. Even more amazing and shocking is Rangers FC’s ongoing silence on the matter, as this cretinous chant builds up its head of steam among supporters. In the Scottish media we have tried to help Rangers by not quoting the subject in our pages, giving the club the chance for once to be proactive rather than reactive to misconduct among their less-fortunate followers. But those days of our silence on BJK are drawing to a close for one good reason – the longer this deafening silence from Ibrox about it prevails, the more decent people are starting to agitate for Rangers to actually do something about it. Gordon Smith, the SFA chief executive, had the guts and the moral fibre to refer to BJK as “morally repugnant”. Yet what have Rangers got to say about it? Does no one at the club actually possess the bottle to stand up and condemn it? BJK is now a ticking time-bomb for Rangers. It is The Billy Boys all over again and I am frankly amazed that the club hasn’t learnt lessons from their recent past and their prosecution by Uefa. Unless Rangers do something and act strongly, this proud but benighted club is once more going to be stung. Britneys view on it !!!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770 Words of 'God Save The Queen' are not inclusive and may need changing, says Lord Goldsmith Last updated at 11:03am on 3rd December 2007 Controversial: Lord Goldsmith, the former attorney general, has said that some of the words of the national anthem are not inclusive Some of the words of the national anthem are not "inclusive" and might need replacing, the ex-minister leading a citizenship review for Gordon Brown suggested today. Former attorney general Lord Goldsmith said there was a problem with later verses of God Save the Queen and that some people were arguing for a change. "There's some problem with part of it absolutely," he told Sky News. "Part of it is not actually that inclusive but that's if you go onto the later verses. "Some people have suggested we might think about whether there are different words that might be put in place which would be more inclusive." Lord Goldsmith, who quit the Government when Tony Blair left office in June, said strong feelings about national symbols had to be taken into account. Welsh Labour MP Ian Lucas is leading a campaign to include the principality's Red Dragon in the Union Flag to represent its "true place in the Union". Asked if he backed the proposal, Lord Goldsmith said: "Well I think the Union Jack is understood and there's enough there but it's absolutely right, if there's a strong view about all these different symbols of nationality then they are things that we ought to know about." He also spoke about the search for the British "statement of values" being sought by the Prime Minister - although he said some reports it should be as short as five words were optimistic. In a package of constitutional reforms published in July, Mr Brown called for a citizen's summit to draw up a British statement of values, which would be "a living statement of rights and responsibilities for the British people."

Sunday's Ligue 1 games produced a plethora of goals as Lyon hit five at home, Bordeaux edged past Toulouse in a seven-goal thriller and Valenciennes hammered Stade Rennes. Champions Lyon had too much going forward for Strasbourg as they sauntered to a 5-0 win. Swedish schemer Kim Kallstrom opened the scoring in the 12th minute before six minutes later the Brazilian Juninho doubled their lead. The was no respite in the second half for Strasbourg as Karim Benzema added a third, leaving Francois Clerc and Kallstrom, from the penalty spot, to complete the rout.

Uefa also confirmed changes to the format of the competition that will allow three Premier League teams to qualify automatically for the group stage of the tournament. However, the fourth-placed side will face a stiffer test in their qualifying round as they are more likely to play against stronger opponents than under the current format. Twenty two clubs will qualifying automatically, including the Scottish champions, while five more places will go to the 15 leading countries in Europe, decided through qualifying rounds. And the remaining five places will be reserved for the champions of the lowest 40 clubs.

Seems to me that Adam is another young Scottish player who is not getting to much praise, the guy is 21 and already has scored a few important goals for us,he definately deserves a starting place

Teams level on points are separated by: 1) The results of games between the teams in the tie (if tied, by goal difference and then by away goals counting double). 2) Goal difference in all group games. 3) Highest number of goals scored in all games. 4) Highest Uefa ranking over the previous five seasons. Get this content on your MOBILE UEFA Champions League : Group A Table 28 November 2007 21:38 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 FC Porto 5 2 2 1 6 7 -1 8 2 Marseille 5 2 1 2 6 5 1 7 3 Liverpool 5 2 1 2 14 5 9 7 4 Besiktas 5 2 0 3 4 13 -9 6 Put simply, if Liverpool beat Marseille in their final group game then they will definitely go through. If they lose they will definitely go out. Complications arise should Liverpool and Marseille draw. Marseille beat Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the campaign, meaning they would edge the Reds out on the basis of that result, assuming Porto beat or draw with Besiktas in the group's other match. But if Liverpool and Marseille draw and Besiktas pull off a shock by beating Porto, the Reds would go through. In this scenario, Liverpool, Marseille and Porto would all be on eight points. Liverpool would go through with the best goal difference in the head-to-head matches between the three teams. UEFA Champions League : Group B Table 28 November 2007 21:36 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Chelsea 5 3 2 0 9 2 7 11 2 Rosenborg 5 2 1 2 5 7 -2 7 3 Schalke 04 5 1 2 2 2 3 -1 5 4 Valencia 5 1 1 3 2 6 -4 4 Chelsea are definitely through as group winners, regardless of the result of their final match against a Valencia side who cannot progress. A home win against Rosenborg will be enough for Schalke to join the Blues in the last 16, but the Norwegian side would go through with a point away from home. UEFA Champions League : Group C Table 28 November 2007 21:39 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Real Madrid 5 2 2 1 10 8 2 8 2 Olympiakos 5 2 2 1 8 7 1 8 3 Werder Bremen 5 2 0 3 8 10 -2 6 4 Lazio 5 1 2 2 7 8 -1 5 All four teams can still qualify but Real Madrid and Olympiakos will be favourites as they are at home to the bottom two teams in the last matches and a draw would be enough for either to qualify. Bremen will qualify only if they win at Olympiakos. Lazio will be sure of qualification if they win in Madrid but Bremen do not win in Greece. If Bremen do win in Greece, Lazio would have to win by at least two goals in Madrid to go through. UEFA Champions League : Group D Table 28 November 2007 21:39 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 AC Milan 5 3 1 1 11 5 6 10 2 Celtic 5 3 0 2 5 5 0 9 3 Shakhtar Donetsk 5 2 0 3 5 9 -4 6 4 Benfica 5 1 1 3 3 5 -2 4 AC Milan have sealed their place in the last 16 and a draw at home to Celtic in the last game will take them through in first place. A draw would also take Celtic through, but if the Scots lose in Milan, they will miss out on the knockout stages if Shakhtar beat Benfica at home. That would leave Celtic and Shakhtar on nine points, but the Ukrainians would go through on head-to-head having beaten Celtic 2-0 at home and lost only 2-1 at Parkhead. Celtic will top the group if they win in the San Siro. UEFA Champions League : Group E Table 27 November 2007 21:37 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Barcelona 5 3 2 0 9 2 7 11 2 Rangers 5 2 1 2 7 6 1 7 3 Lyon 5 2 1 2 8 10 -2 7 4 VfB Stuttgart 5 1 0 4 6 12 -6 3 Barcelona will go through as group winners, and Rangers will join them in the last 16 if they draw or beat Lyon at home in the final group match. Rangers won 3-0 in Lyon earlier in the competition so a draw at Ibrox would put them through thanks to a better head-to-head record against the French team. UEFA Champions League : Group F Table 27 November 2007 21:40 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Man Utd 5 5 0 0 12 3 9 15 2 Roma 5 3 1 1 10 5 5 10 3 Sporting 5 1 1 3 6 8 -2 4 4 Dynamo Kiev 5 0 0 5 4 16 -12 0 Manchester United have taken first place in the group and Roma have secured the second spot. PSV must beat Inter at home and hope Fenerbahce fail to beat bottom-of-the-table CSKA in Turkey to take the second place. UEFA Champions League : Group H Table 27 November 2007 21:38 P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Sevilla 5 4 0 1 11 7 4 12 2 Arsenal 5 3 1 1 12 3 9 10 3 Slavia Prague 5 1 2 2 5 13 -8 5 4 Steaua Bucharest 5 0 1 4 3 8 -5 1 Arsenal and Sevilla have both qualified for the last 16, with Slavia Prague taking a place in the Uefa Cup. Arsenal will finish top of the group if they beat Steaua Bucharest at home and Sevilla fail to win in Prague in the last group games.
