Exclusive RANGERS fear DaMarcus Beasley is out for the rest of the season. The 25-year-old American midfielder suffered a sickening knee injury during Tuesday's Champions League clash in Stuttgart. Rangers' mood was black enough after their 3-2 defeat but scans have shown the damage to Beasley's knee to be worse than first thought. He was crocked in a second-half collision with keeper Raphael Schafer and yesterday's checks revealed his ligaments had been badly damaged. Manager Walter Smith was given the news that it looks like he will have to do without Beasley for the remainder of the campaign. Beasley's setback comes just as his form was beginning to improve and his loss will be a serious blow to Rangers' hopes at home and abroad. But there was better news concerning Lee McCulloch, who was taken off in the first half, also holding a knee. His problem was easing yesterday and although Rangers expect him to miss Saturday's home match with Kilmarnock, he should be able to train again at the beginning of next week. McCulloch, though, is refusing to accept his injury could keep him out of action even for one match. He is determined to prove the Ibrox medics wrong by reporting fit for the Killie game.

The tide is indeed turning, which was always going to happen, but i'm just glad that we the Rangers fans have worked hard to sort out our problems and it was only a matter of time before the unwashed get exposed for what they really are.

But is it not a case of getting a great and unexpected start to the CL,then the fans expectations rise ?.In reallity when the draw was made nobody expected too much apart from maybe squeezing third spot,we have sceured european football and could easily have beat Stuttgart and still go to the last game,so IMO we have had a good run and achieved a lot and could get the result we need against Lyon, but if we don't I certainly don't think it's been anything but exciting and rewarding with some great games and results. At the start of the season all we wanted was to qualify for the CL,apart from the money, but also to enjoy a couple of good european nights at Ibrox and i've certainly enjoyed them and it's not finished, bring on Lyon for another great CL night at Ibrox

Rangers are rumoured to be one of several clubs targeting South Korean international Kim Jung-woo. The midfielder, who starred at the Asian Cup in July this year, is in search of greener pastures after spending the last two seasons at Nagoya Grampus Eight. The 25-year-old told Junichi Sports he could be leaving the J-League club at the end of the year and wants to impress in his final home game against Yokohama FC. Exit "This could be the last home game I play in Japan," he said. "I want to finish on a high note." Kim's management company, FS Corporation, revealed that numerous clubs are keeping tabs on the player's situation but declined to name them. "Including the K-League and European teams, we have received offers from five different countries," a company spokesperson told the Japanese media. Apart from Rangers, other clubs believed to be interested in the player are Anderlecht, Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma and Ulsan Hyundai.

Eight Brazil football fans killed Several people fell through a hole which appeared in the upper stands At least eight people have died after part of a stadium in north-eastern Brazil collapsed towards the end of a football match, police say. A number of people fell through a gaping hole in one of the highest areas of the stands at the Fonte Nova stadium in the city of Salvador in Bahia. Fans were celebrating the promotion of their team to the second division. Salvador is a candidate to stage matches at the 2014 World Cup, awarded last month to Brazil. Wild celebrations The accident at the Fonte Nova stadium happened when an elevated section of the concrete stand gave way just 10 minutes before the end of the game between Bahia and Vila Nova - a team from the nearby state of Goias. Those killed fell to their death from at least 40m (130ft) Images from the scene showed a gaping hole and a drop of at least 40m (130ft) to the street below. Several hundred fans were in the area of the accident, jumping up and down in celebration, as Bahia looked likely to secure the 0-0 draw that would guarantee them promotion. Around 60,000 people were reported to be in the stadium and many were unaware of the tragedy until after the game had finished. The match finished 0-0, prompting supporters to invade the pitch in celebration. The governor of Bahia state, Jacques Wagner, ordered the closure of the stadium while the authorities investigate the causes of the accident. Many of the football stadiums in Brazil are old and need repair and the stadium in Salvador is believed to have opened in 1951, although it underwent a refurbishment some 20 years later, our correspondent says. If the city is chosen to stage matches at the 2014 World Cup tournament, there are plans to build a new stadium.

Scotland At The World Cup Draw Stars Get Zilch For Euro Campaign SCOTLAND players did not take a penny for their failed bid to reach Euro 2008. SFA chief executive Gordon Smith has praised Barry Ferguson and Co for not attempting to cash in - now he hopes to broker a similar deal for the World Cup in 2010. Hampden bosses were denied a cash windfall of around £5million when Alex McLeish's side narrowly missed out on a place in Austria and Switzerland next summer. The players struck a deal with the SFA that saw them waive win bonuses and appearance fees in favour of a squad pot of around £1.25m, payable only on qualification. Italy's 2-1 win at Hampden put paid to that but Smith, speaking here in South Africa ahead of tomorrow's World Cup draw, insists the SFA will happily fork out for success in future. He said: "The Scotland players took no money whatsoever from the SFA in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. "They were on a qualifying only bonus and I must commend them for that. The current squad made it pretty clear to me they are content to play for Scotland for nothing. "They amassed 24 points in a very tough group but received no reward for that in terms of individual bonuses. "If Scotland qualify for a major tournament the SFA benefit from millions of pounds in extra revenue and it's only fair the players share in that. "I hope a similar arrangement will be in place come the start of World Cup qualifying. Obviously we'll have to speak to the players first but their commitment to the squad is already very obvious." Smith will try to finalise a deal for a new-look home international tournament while in South Africa. Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Republic of Ireland want a Celtic Cup competition on the international dates in February, March and May and still hope to tempt England into joining them. Nor thern Ireland FA President Jim Boyce said: "There is a possibility of Scotland playing Northern Ireland in February. The Republic of Ireland can't play then because I understand they have a friendly with Brazil. "I want to see a British Championship reformed but England have to make up their minds. For many years I have been campaigning to bring back the championships but it always appeared that England did not want to participate. "If they say no I want a Celtic Cup with Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland." England already have a friendly against Switzerland pencilled in for February 6 - the proposed date for the new tournament to begin

Stuttgart have definately picked up since we played them,so it's far from over,I can see a Scotland v Italy scenario winner takes all against Lyon, however if we win in Germany and Barca hump Lyon we're through

There's more chance of Rangers signing Kaka than that Happening

IMO Stevie Naysmith is a better player and he can't get a game,so although he's a good player I would rather see Naysmith get a chance before him,not to mention the likes of Gow,Burke and even the younger players like Lennon and Fleck

I never said he was Rangers class,I was merely commenting on your posts regarding players

Victor Meldrew hasn't got a look in

IMO it would be a good thing for Scotland as it will help continue the momentum and get us prepared for the WC qualifiers,i'd leave England out though
